Off to the Rodeo

I nodded and followed the two boys. Going out to Connor's truck I forgot that he also has a bench seat, because I also have a bench seat.

"So, you are in the middle little miss" Braxton said

"Little miss? I'm pretty sure we're the same age" I laughed

"I'm 25" He smirked

"Whatever" I huffed

"I'm about to be 24" Connor said

"Well so am I" I yelled

"Get in" Connor replied

Getting in the truck, I put one leg on either side of the shifter and the two boys got in as well. Sitting back, I crossed my arms and huffed.

"So, when's your birthday?" Connor asked

"October 7th" I said

"Oh. Mine's in June so ha, you're the youngest" Connor said

"I hate both of you" I said "How far away is the rodeo?"

"An hour" Braxton said

I groaned and they both laughed. We started driving and I got to control the music, as in, I plugged my phone into the radio and forced them the listen to my music. They didn't mind though since I listen to country western all the time. After what felt like forever, we turned onto a dirt road and I saw an arena. Oh, this must be it. Connor parked his truck and we all hopped out. I had to be careful not the hit the shifter. Walking towards the front, I got tripped when they went right instead of straight towards the ticket booth.

"C'mon. We get to sit in VIP" Braxton laughed

"Oh?" I said

"He rides in this rodeo so when he comes to watch, he can bring up to two people and get in for free" Braxton replied

"Ohh, okay okay" I nodded

We both caught up to Connor and someone came walking towards us.

"Hey bro. You aren't running tonight?" The guy said

"Nah, took the week off and my sister came home with her roommate" Connor said

"How's that been?" He asked

"Oh she's a real pain in the ass" Connor laughed then looked back at me "Kidding"

"Oh you better be" I said

"Are you the roommate?" The kid laughed

"Yeah" I said

"I thought he mighta got a new girl. I'm Dalton" The guy said

"Becca" I replied

He held his hand out and I walked up and shook it. I need to find myself a cow boy god damn. He's wearing a wedding ring so he's taken sadly. Sigh. They chatted for a little bit then Dalton had to go get ready.

"Oh Connor, I see you got rid of that girl" A short old lady said

"Well she cheated on me so, now she's with Marie's ex" Connor laughed

"So, is she your girlfriend or his girl friend" The lady asked

"Neither" I said

"This is Marie's college roommate. She came up for spring break and has never been to the rodeo" Connor laughed

"Oh, where are you from?" The lady asked

"New York" I replied

"A lot different from Montana huh" She laughed

I nodded. We got our hands stamps and I followed the boys to go sit down, and i'm in between them.

"So, are you excited?" Braxton asked

"Yeah. It's cool so far" I nodded

"And you already met a cowboy" Connor laughed

"I need to find myself a cowboy" I laughed

"Does New York even have cowboys?" Braxton asked

"New York doesn't have s**t" I laughed

"You know, I like how they both immediately thought you were Connor's girlfriend. What about me" Braxton laughed

"You poor thing" I laughed

"Well what's your type?" Connor asked

"Why?" I laughed

"Curious" He replied

"I don't know. Match my attitude. I like mid length hair on guys, facial hair. Yeah." I nodded

"Interesting" Braxton said

"Why is that interesting" I laughed

"I don't know" He smiled

They did a ride out with everyone who brought a horse and did the national anthem as well. They started with bull riding and I'm probably ignoring the two boys that i'm here with. I hear them talking but i'm just focused on whatever is going on. Next was saddle bronc riding then bareback bronc riding. And now we have an intermission. The rodeo clown came out and started telling jokes and then they started doing games.

"C'mon" Connor said standing up

Braxton and I looked at each other but got up and followed the boy. Heading out of the seating area, we went back to where all the bull riders stand.

"Yo Connor" A couple of them said

They started talking with Connor as Braxton and I just stood there.

"You know, i'm kinda hungry, wanna go get food?" I said looking at Braxton

"Yeah" He laughed

We both walked away and Connor didn't even notice. Going over to the food stand I guess we caught a lull in the line. The two of us quickly jogged over and got behind the three people in front of us, and now people are lining up behind us, nice.

"Should we be nice and get him something?" I asked

"Yeah, he likes hot dogs" Braxton said

"Okay okay. You can go first if you want" I said

"No, i'm buying" He said

"You sure?" I asked

"Yes. What do you want?" Braxton laughed

"Uhm. Hamburger, and yes I mean ham cause I don't want cheese" I laughed

"Got it" He laughed

Braxton ordered our food and he got a hot dog, as well as Connor. Well Connor doesn't have a choice he's getting a hot dog. Braxton put ketchup on one hot dog and mustard on the other and wrapped them back up. I got handed my burger and we walked back to where we left the boy, he was still chatting away with his buddies.

"You think I can give him the chills?" I asked

"Can you?" Braxton asked

"By going like this" I said and ran my hand down his back

"Oh, do it" He laughed

Walking up to the boy I gave the random guys a nod and ran my hand down Connors back. He jumped, hard.

"What the hell was that" He said and looked at me

"Sup" I smiled

He gave me a look then smirked and wrapped his arms around me. I don't know what this is suppose to do but I don't mind it. I leaned back against the boy and Braxton held out a wrapper.

"Got you a hot dog. I forget which has mustard and which has ketchup" He laughed

"Thanks, i'll just use her as a table." Connor said

"You get that in my hair and i'll end you" I said

"What did you get?" Connor asked

"Burger" I laughed

I ate my burger with one hand, since the other one is being held against me by Connor. They all chatted and I made it in the trash can with my tin foil ball. Connor missed so now i'm free.

"So, how are you liking the rodeo so far?" Dalton asked

"It's cool. Really interesting." I replied

"Well, if Connor here was competing tonight I would say you'd get to see me whoop his ass. But, he's not. Next time though" Dalton laughed

They announced Barrel racing and we headed back to our seats. I was back in between the two boys and we watched all the barrel racers. The lights also seemed really bright.

"You good over there?" Braxton said

"Bright lights" I said

"Shoulda worn a hat" Connor said

"Well you know what, I didn't bring a hat, or sun glasses and your ass has both. Rude" I replied

"Sucks" He said

"So not nice" I pouted

A couple seconds later I left something on my head and now it's in front of my eyes.

"Hey" I said

"Enjoy, I gotta pee" Connor said getting up

"You know, if you weren't too busy chit chatting you could of gone during the break" I said

He shot me a smile and walked away. Looking around, they were still running barrels and Braxton looked at me and did a half laugh.

"What?" I asked

"Connor doesn't let anyone wear his hat" Braxton said

"He probably let his ex wear it" I said

"Nope. That made her mad too cause she wanted to wear it. I've never even worn it" He said

"Hmm. Interesting" I said

Braxton nodded and I pulled my phone out. Pulling snapchat up, I flipped it to the front facing camera and looked at myself. I look good. Sending a couple selfies to Marie, Braxton joined in on a few and Connor came walking back, so I stopped. After they finished barrels it was roping and team roping. Then they ended the night with the second half of the bull riders. It's about 10:30, and we probably won't be home till almost midnight, i'm not excited.

"I hope you boys know, I will probably fall asleep on the ride back" I said

"I'm not surprised" Connor said

"Well it's a bench seat so you have a choice of a shoulder pillow" Braxton said

I laughed and we stood up from our seats. And of course instead of walking towards the truck we went back to the group of guys.

"So, you riding next weekend?" One guy said

"Maybe. I go back to school and work this week so we'll see how Chevy runs." Connor said

"Are you going to be here?" Another asked looking at me

"No she's just scoping out cowboys" Connor said

I smacked him in the chest, hard. Whoops.

"No. I go back to school Monday" I said

Connor took his hat back and I ran a hand through my hair. We love hat hair.

"Where do you go to school?" Dalton asked

"With Marie" I replied

They looked at each other then looked at Connor and smirked. Males are weird.

"When do you go back?" One kid asked

"Monday morning we leave" I replied

"So you're free tomorrow?" He asked

"No sir, I have to pack my s**t and say bye to my horse buddy" I laughed

"Horse buddy?" Dalton asked

"You know that quarter horse we have. Blackjack, the all black one that's a pain in the ass" Connor said

"Yeah" All the boys said

"He loves her. Listens to her and everything" Connor laughed and put his arm around my shoulder

"She makes him run too" Braxton laughed

"You shoulda ran him tonight" Dalton said

I shook my head and the boys all chatted a bit before saying bye. I waved to them all then turned around and walked with Braxton back to the truck. Connor was busy finishing up his conversations.

"So, how'd you like the rodeo" Braxton asked

"It was fun, those guys seem cool. Fun watching" I smiled

"You seemed like you were enjoying yourself" He smiled back

Connor came walking over and we all got in the truck, not like the door was locked but I didn't want to just sit in there and wait forever for this kid. Here I am straddling the shifter yet again, I am so ready for bed.

"You still awake over there?" Braxton laughed

"Yeah" I mumbled

"Are you still dropping me off?" Braxton asked

"Yeah, unless you were staying again" Connor replied

"Nah, my folks want me to come with them tomorrow so home I go. I think I have my keys" He laughed "If not there's a spare hidden on my truck"

"I do that" I laughed

"Hide a spare house key?" Connor said

"Yup. It's a dorm room key cause I haven't been home in forever. But ya know" I shrugged

"I thought you can't make copies of those?" Braxton said

"They gave us one spare, it's hidden on my truck because someone's sister likes to forget hers" I laughed

"Yeah, she's like that" Connor laughed

We continued driving and I felt a hand on my leg. Glancing down Connor put his hand on my knee, instead of keeping it on the shifter like he did the whole drive there. Now i'm dozing in and out because I would like to lay in that comfy bed at the house. Feeling the truck stop, I opened my eyes and we were at a house. Oh it's a nice house. Braxton hopped out and I quickly slid over.

"Wow, I didn't even get the door shut" Braxton laughed

"Sorry" I smiled

"Well, if I don't see you before you leave it was nice meeting you" Braxton said

"It was nice meeting you too" I said back

Looking at the boy, I slid out and gave him a hug. He hugged me back and I could feel him chuckling

"What?" I asked

"Nothing. Hopefully i'll see you again" He smiled

I nodded and got back in the truck. Shutting the door, the boys waved to each other and we drove off. Leaning my head against the door, we drove a bit more and came back to their house. I felt a hand on my arm and got shaken a bit.

"Hey, Becca. We're back" Connor said

Sitting up, I nodded and hopped out of the truck. Walking up the porch steps, Connor jogged in front of me and opened the door. We both went up the stairs and I went into the room. Getting changed into my pajamas, I realized I had to pee and walked into the hallway. I guess Connor has to go too.

"You using the bathroom?" He asked

"Yeah" I yawned

"Well, not if I get there first" He smirked

I looked at him then ran to the door. He looked at bit shocked but followed. Getting grabbed, I laughed and looked back at the kid. He was smirking at me while laughing and put me back on the ground.

"C'mon you're gonna make me pee" I whined

"That's fine" Connor replied

"No it's not. I gotta go" I pouted

"Fine. I guess i'll wait" He said

Letting me go, I ran into the bathroom and quickly shut and locked the door, I do not trust this boy. Honestly Marie walks right in at school if I don't lock the door. Doing my business, I flushed the toilet then washed my hands. Unlocking the door, I walked out and Connor was leaning against the wall.

"Did you really lock the door?" He laughed

"Well Marie likes to just walk in so yes" I replied

"Does she really?" He laughed

"Yes, so I do the same to her out of spite, or if she's taking too long" I smiled

Connor shook his head and walked into the bathroom. Going back to my room, I looked around and searched for my phone. And Marie is face timing me.

"Hello" I said

"Hey" She replied

"You're so awake" I laughed

"I'm surprised you're up. I was thinking you'd be asleep by now" She said

"We just got home. Had to drop off Braxton" I said with a yawn

"Oh okay. Makes sense. Did Connor talk to his buddies forever?" Marie asked

"Yup. Braxton and I kept each other company" I laughed

"Did you have fun though?" She said

"Yeah, I had a good time" I smiled

"Hey, goodnight" Connor said peeking in

"Goodnight" I replied looking up

He gave me a nod with a smiled and pointed to the door. I nodded and he shut it. Then I looked back down at Marie who was smiling

"What" I asked

"You two get a long well" She said

"Your brothers nice. Why can't guys at school be like that, god damn" I sighed

"So, how'd you get him to give you his hat. Because he does not let anyone wear that hat. I think only our dad has" Marie laughed

"He just put it on my head. The got up and went to the bathroom. You know Braxton also said that" I replied

"Did you ask?" Marie said

"Not really. I just said it was bright and he had a hat and sunglasses. Then next thing I know there's a hat on my head" I laughed

"Hmm. Okay okay. Oh we have an emergency coming in. I'll see you in the morning then i'm going to bed" She replied

"Goodnight well. Have a good night" I laughed

"Goodnight chicky" Marie laughed

We hung up and I put my phone on the night stand. Oh man I can't wait to sleep.
