Party

Whelp, it's been three hours and i'm currently sitting on the couch, inside alone. It just got too overwhelming. I just wanted to relax alone. I do this when Marie and I go to parties, i'll just disappear for like an hour or so. There's so many people here too. A good amount of her friends came, some of the people that work at the vets office are here, so I got to meet some of them. They seem nice so hopefully working with them will be fun. Their one cousin is here since he lives near by. I think that's it. I don't know anymore, but the wings are a hit and they're almost gone. I heard the back door open and glanced over to see who was coming in. Can't see, damn.

"Whatcha doing Becca?" I heard

Sitting up Connor walked over and sat next to me on the couch. I just looked at him and shrugged. To which I was given a look.

"What" I said

"Why are you sitting inside alone" He asked

"I needed a break" I said

"To many people?" He asked

"Maybe. Slightly overwhelmed" I sheepishly said

"I understand that. Sometimes you just need to step away. Do you mind if I join you?" He asked

"I guess so" I replied

"You sound so confident in that answer" He laughed

"Well, I don't know. I don't like admitting that I get overwhelmed" I said

"Marie knows" He said

"Well she's the one who drags me out, then wonders where I go off too. So yeah she knows" I said

"You just wander off?" He asked

"Yeah, since your sister is miss social, I would have to go with her to parties and I would just go find a quiet area and play on my phone and ignore everyone. At least here I could come inside and have the whole house to myself." I shrugged

"Oh. Okay" He said

I nodded and pulled my knees up to my chest. Unlocking my phone, I went on i********: and started scrolling through my feed.

"Damn you follow some nice trucks and jeeps" Connor said

"Yeah, I guess I could post a picture" I said

Tapping the new post icon, I hit drafts and looked at the ones I had.

"Are those all the ones you took?" He asked

"Well, most of them. I have more but these are the ones I liked. When Marie finally convinced me to Move to Montana, I went and took pictures at all the spots I wanted to in Kansas" I said

"These are nice. Wait is that you?" He asked

He tapped the picture and it was me posing with my truck. I chuckled and nodded.

"Yeah, my cousin came with me for some and told me to go pose with my truck since this was a nice spot and I was dressed okay ish." I said

"You look nice" He laughed

"Mhmm. Now I need to find good spots here to take some pictures" I nodded

"I take a lot of mine on the farm. But I know of a few spots. If you want to go out one day and take some photos of the trucks. Maybe some of them together. I haven't posted a picture in a while" Connor said

"I'd like that" I smiled

He smiled back and watched as I picked out a picture and made a caption. I'm terrible at them so some of the pictures have captions already. This one I just announced that I now live in Montana. Simple enough. Hitting post, I locked my phone and looked at Connor.

"You don't want to see who liked your post?" Connor asked

"I mean, I don't really care. I post to share not for likes" I shrugged

"Okay, I see you. Instagramer over here" He laughed

"Hey, I have gotten some nice deals with my account" I chuckled

"How often do you get asked to be a sugar baby?" He asked

"A lot" I nodded "Oh and feet pics, good lord. I could be rich and have no loans by now"

Connor laughed while I just rolled my eyes with a groan. Sometimes DM's are a dangerous place but they can be hilarious. I guess I'm well rested and can go back outside. Sigh.

"Well, I guess it's time to go back outside" I sighed

"You sound so excited" Connor smiled

"Uhm, apparently you're Mr. party man too so I don't know why you're sitting here with me" I said

"Because I didn't want you to be alone" He shrugged "I felt bad"

"Why" I laughed

"I don't know" He said

Shrugging I stood up and Connor did the same thing. Putting my shoes back on, we both walked outside and re-joined everyone. Marie shot me a smile and I did the same. Eating the last wing, because I can, I started cleaning those up and their dad came over and helped.

"Thank you" I said

"No problem. They were good. I'm not surprised they all went" He laughed

"I am surprised" I laughed back

He smiled and showed me where the outside cans were. I guess Marie forgot about those because she'll probably make me take out the trash and not tell me where these live. She does that sometimes. Once we finished cleaning up Marie walked over and smiled at me.

"What" I said suspiciously

"Do you want to go exploring?" She asked

"Exploring?" I asked

Looking behind her, there's beer bottles and snickering people. I'm going to go with bad idea. Also who brought alcohol.

"I want to go drive around. Show you around" She said

"It's dark and i've seen the area" I said

"You're no fun" She pouted

I nodded and she went and sat at the table. A couple minutes later Alex walked over to me.

"Hey, they're all being drunk pain in the ass's so i'm going to go drive them around. Do you want to give me your number just in case I just take them all back to my house?" She asked

"Sure" I laughed

We put each others numbers in our phones and I wished her luck. Once she rounded up the girls, I noticed a lot of Marie's co workers had left. The last three said goodbye and now it's just her parents, brother, and Braxton.

"So, would you like help cleaning up?" Braxton asked

"Yes please" I replied

"Boys can you put the hot box in the back of the gator" Their dad asked

They nodded and their mom helped me bring the drinks and stuff in the house. I put them in the fridge and put the small amount of remaining dip in containers. We bought the cheap ones at the store, just in case this didn't go. I got a lot of compliments on the food and was told by my new found co workers that they will be expecting snacks. I mean hey if we have the s**t in the fridge and it's about to go bad why not. I did that when we would use the study halls in our dorm building. Clean out our mini fridge and make something up real fast then go share it with who ever was studying or getting their projects done. We were well liked by a lot of our class mates.

"So, what are your plans for the rest of the night?" Connor asked

"Sleep?" I said

"You do know it's only like.. 8. Right. My sister is just a light weight" He laughed

"That's fine" I laughed back

"Let's go for a drive" Braxton said

"I already told Marie I didn't want to explore" I said

"Oh" He pouted

"We're heading back to the house. The food was great Becca" Their mom said

"Will we be seeing you guys tomorrow?" Their dad said

"That's a good question. But thank you for helping clean up" I asked

"No problem hun" Their mom said

I smiled and they both walked out the door.

"So, what are you two up to?" I asked

"What are you kicking us out?" Connor asked

"No. You guys can join me on the couch if you'd like. There's nothing else to do. I don't know what you Montana boys do on Saturday nights" I asked

"Us Montana boys. Hmm hit the back roads" Braxton said

"I mean he's not wrong. Sometimes there's nothing else to do but drive down a dirt road and find a spot to chill. Sometimes have a fire, other times just bull s**t" Connor said

"Well, y'all have fun" I laughed

"Oh come on Becca. Come with us" Braxton said

"Why. I'm tired" I pouted

"Wouldn't be the first time you slept in the truck" Connor laughed

"Uhm, I fell asleep in your dads truck" I said

"You were nodding off after the rodeo" He replied

"Don't you normally go to that" I said

"You guys were having a party, I wanted to join" He laughed "I'm riding next week"

"Oh, you should come next week" Braxton said

"Depends on if i'm working" I said

"Bummer" Connor said

Rolling my eyes, I walked over to my couch and sat down. Kicking my shoes off, I slid them underneath and put my feet up. They both followed me over to the couch and looked at me.

"What?" I asked

"Are you really just going to sit here?" Braxton asked

"I mean, this is what i'm going to do when Marie goes back to overnights since i'm going to be doing day shift" I said

"Going back? She's been doing over nights" Connor said

"She's going to work day shift the next two weeks until we go to New York to help me get used to their practice. But I think she said we are going to have different days off, besides Sundays I think we'll both have off." I said

"Oh, that was nice of them. Or her" Connor said

"Yeah. Well, gotta practice" I smiled

"Oh come on. Come for a drive" Braxton said

"Are you even the one driving" I laughed

"No" He smiled

"So I would have to be squished between you two yet again" I said

"Is that an issue?" Connor asked

"Nope. Well, unless you guys smell then it might be" I said

"Come on" Braxton said

"I'm not getting up" I said looking at Braxton

"Get her" Braxton said

I looked at him and he walked towards the front door. Then Connor walked over to me and picked me up off the couch.

"Uhm, sir. What are you doing" I said

"We're going for a ride. Got your phone?" He asked

"Yeah. I need a house key though. And the doors locked" I said

"Braxton can you lock the doors and i'm assuming it's that set there" Connor said

I nodded and grabbed them off the wall when he walked next to the key holder. Walking outside, Braxton shut the front door and made sure it was locked. Then I was placed in the truck and yet again we are straddling the shifter. The two boys got in and started driving, then my phone rang, it's Alex.

"Hello?" I said

"Hey, so, Marie is currently passed out in my bath tub. Not the first time. Also not the only one. So I will return her in the morning I heard you get up early. But we all know she doesn't so. Probably brunch time." Alex laughed

"Of course" I laughed "Yeah, I don't have any plans because well, just moved here. I mean she should be sober enough to find her way around by then I think the only other place I would be is her parents." I said

"i'll shoot you a text before we head over. I hope you have a good night and the food tonight was amazing." Alex said

"You too and thank you" I replied

Hanging up, I put my phone on my lap and was getting glances.

"Yes?" I said

"So, where is my sister?" Connor laughed

"Asleep in Alex's tub" I laughed

"Of course" Connor laughed

"Why don't you go hard like that" Braxton said

"Do you want to take care of two drunk girls?" I asked

"No" Connor said

"I mean" Braxton laughed

"I also don't drink like that" I laughed "I never really did"

"Never been a big drinker huh?" Connor said

"Nope." I nodded

"How come?" Braxton asked

"My family likes to get s**t faced a lot and I just don't care for it. So I just deal with Marie and drink.. casually I guess you could say. I mean we have a liquor cabinet but you know" I shrugged

"Is that why you didn't get s**t faced at the bar that one time?" Braxton laughed

"I guess" I nodded "So where are we going?"

"For a drive" Connor said

"To?" I asked

"You'll see" He smiled

I glared at the boy and sat back with my arms crossed. The two boys chuckled and soon we turned into the woods. Great, these two are actually murders and i'm going to die tonight. Wow Marie thanks for telling me your brother is a killer. And thank you to her parents for leaving me with these two serial killers. Good bye cruel world. We drove down some very dark trails and came out to an opening. I'm going to get shot aren't I. This is why they wanted me to come. New house, they don't want to clean up blood stains.

"And we're here" Connor said as we pulled up to a lake

"Is there where I die?" I asked

"What?" The two boys asked

"I don't know, you force me to go for a drive and bring me into the woods at night." I said

"No, you're not going to die. Just look at the damn lake" Connor said

I looked out the windshield and out at the moon lit lake. Oh, it's actually very pretty.

"Oh" I said

"Oh" The two boys laughed

Connor backed up his truck and made a U-turn before back backing his truck up to the water. Once he did that, he shut the truck off and they both hopped out. Braxton held out his hand and I slid out his side. Once I was out, Connor lifted the bench seat and pulled out a blanket. I followed the two boys around to the back of the truck and Braxton put the tail gate down, then Connor laid the blanket down. Then both sat up on the tail gate and left a spot between them. Hopping up, I looked out over the water and smiled to myself. It is pretty.

"So, are you excited to start working?" Braxton asked

"I guess so. I have no idea what it's like around here" I said

"Marie has some stories, but you're also working at one of the major vet hospitals around here so, not going to be slow" Connor said

"So exciting" I sighed

"What are you going to do when you go to New York?" Braxton asked again

"Get my things?" I said

"Well besides that" He laughed

"I think.. I think we're going straight to the city so y'all can be tourists. Then i'm going to message my spy and when he gives me the all clear we're going to drive to my little town and go to my house and pack up my s**t. Then I will have to go say hi to Evan and thank him for being my spy and hope his younger brother is not around" I smiled

"Why, you don't want to see your ex's?" Connor laughed

"Absolutely not" I laughed

"Hey you could always show me off" Connor said with a wink

"And have your family make jokes forever?" I said

"They would" Braxton laughed

"Wait are we really going to the city?" Connor asked

"Yeah, Marie and your mom really wanted to so you're dad agreed and if you do come well, you have no choice" I said

"Did you guys get a place to stay?" He asked

"Yeah, we already got a hotel room... Which only has two beds. Hmm." I said

"I'll sleep on the floor" He laughed "Better then a truck bed or floor of the trailer"

"I feel bad now" I pouted

"It's fine" Connor said

"He has slept on the floor of his horse trailer. I only know cause I slept in the truck" Braxton said

"I can sleep anywhere" Connor said

"So can your sister" I said "I can't"

"Neither can I" Braxton said "This kid just falls asleep anywhere"

"But you fell asleep in the truck" Connor said

"I was exhausted okay" I laughed

The two boys also laughed and we all sat and stared out at the lake. It's very peaceful.
