New House

"Well it was a good two months" Maranda said

"It was an interesting 2 months" I laughed

My cousin smiled and I zipped up my bag.

"Okay last container is in the bed and that's shut. Those bags are going in my truck right?" Marie said walking in

"Yup. This is the last one. The rest are packed" I said

Marie nodded and her and my cousin grabbed a bag while I got the last one. Yup. Marie is down here in Kansas. I've been living with my cousin the last two months and Marie got her house built and asked if I would come live with her. After saying no a couple times, I agreed. The working situation here just wasn't panning out. She took the week off and got here Tuesday night. So I showed her around while simultaneously packing up all my stuff again. I said I would just drive my stuff up there but, she wanted to come see Kansas and offered to help so I didn't have to overload my truck since it has to go 13 hours. Yeah i'm not excited.

"Alright that's the last bag. What time are we leaving again?" Marie asked

"Uhm, 4am" I said

"So we should be back at my house, around 5pm Friday night" Marie said "That's including gas and pit stops"

"Yeah sounds about right" I said

"I'll be up when you two leave since I have a case tomorrow" Maranda said

We both nodded and headed back inside. Having dinner, we sat in the living room for a little bit before calling it an early night.

"Here, I have the original sheet set that was on this bed. It has a couple rips, but I never had a chance to buy a new set before she came" My cousin said

"It's fine" Marie laughed

I've been sleeping on the couch and letting Marie have the bed while she's been here. Figured i'd be nice. Helping her get the bed set up, I said goodnight and went to my bed on the couch.

~*ZzZz*~

"Good morning" I said to my cousin

"Morning, is your friend up yet?" Maranda asked

"She's horrible to wake up early. I was just going to get everything ready then wake her up before we leave" I laughed

"Sounds good" She laughed

I'm just staying in the clothes i'm in because, well i'm going to be in the truck all day so I don't care. Getting my snacks, I put them in the truck and made sure I had my trash bags. I like to keep my truck clean. Doing the same for Marie's truck, since I had her keys, I decided now was a good time to wake her up.

"Hey, sleepy. We gotta leave in like 20 minutes" I said shaking my friend

"Ugh, why so early" She groaned

"I don't want to hit a lot of traffic" I laughed

She moaned and groaned but got out of bed. I helped her make it real fast and she used the bathroom. Folding my blankets, I put that with the pillow I was using and my cousin just said to leave it on the couch. Once my friend came out of the bathroom, she got coffee and I ate a granola bar. I'm not really a coffee person, doesn't do much for me. Marie thrives on caffeine.

"Well Maranda. Thank you for housing me for 2 months. Wish me luck when I go back to New York to get the rest of my s**t" I laughed

"Oof good luck. And any time you want to come visit. You can fly down. But you two, yes Marie you are welcome as well. You guys can come hang out and enjoy the Kansas BBQ" My cousin said

We both hugged her and headed out to our trucks. Starting them up. I waved and started the drive up to Montana. The one thing Marie also brought were walkie talkies. This way we can talk to each other while we drive. In case of emergencies but also if we get bored and to coordinate pit stops.

"Hey, how much gas do you have?" Marie asked

"We both filled up last night" I laughed

"Oh yeah. Just wanted to double check. We should be good for a little bit then" Marie said

About 3 hours in Marie of course had to pee so we made out first pit stop. I decided to go just cause I know i'll have to go as soon as we leave. Once we finished there we got back on the road and knocked out a few more hours before making the first gas stop. We're not really going off of her gas tank, we're going off mine since old trucks burn more gas. She's just filling up when I do since that's the smart thing to do. After we left our first gas stop my phone started ringing.

"Why is she calling me" I laughed

Glancing down, that is not Marie name. That is her brothers name.

"Hello" I said putting him on speaker

"Hey, hows the drive" Connor said

"Not bad. Just made our first gas stop" I said

"How far are you?" He asked

"Uhm, about 5 or 6 hours in" I repled

"Gotta love old trucks" He laughed

"Tell me about it" I replied

"What time do you think you guys will get in?" He asked

"Probably around 5 tonight" I replied

"When did you guys leave?" Connor said

"4am. Getting your sister up wasn't fun" I laughed

"Oh I bet. Well drive safe. Let me know when you guys get in" Connor said

"Will do" I replied

Hanging up, my music started playing again and I continued on my way. 3 Bathroom breaks and 5 gas stops later, I recognized the one road we were driving down and my GPS said 15 minutes away.

"Hey i'm gonna go in front and lead the way" Marie said

"Sounds good" I replied

I half pulled over and Marie went around me. Turning off my GPS, I just followed my friend and soon we turned down the drive way road thing that lead to their house. And there's all their farm animals out and about in their pasture.

"Oh. There's a new dirt road" I said laughing

Marie turned down this new dirt road and I could see the house in the distance. It's cute, it's white with black and dark brown accents. There's a cute front porch that I will definitely sit on all the time. Pulling up, She parked and I pulled my truck next to hers. It's got a rounded driveway that goes in front of the porch. Hoping out, I looked at Marie who was just smiling at me.

"So?!" She yelled

"It's so cute" I smiled

"C'mon I want to show you the inside" She said

I nodded and we walked up on the porch. Marie pulled out her keys and unlocked the door, then as she grabbed the handle she stopped and pointed.

"So, my dad and I did a lot of the planning for this. And since we both work at the animal hospital we took that into account if we get any pets. So look at this" Marie smiled

She's so giddy right now. Looking over it was a covered shoe holder. I smiled and shook my head.

"I like that, they can dry when I throw my shoes in the bed in the rain" I laughed

"Or snow, cause this is Montana baby get your winter clothes out" She laughed

"Yeah" I laughed

Going inside, there was an area for coats and bags and such then it opened up to the living room. This is an open floor plan and very nice. Taking a few more steps in you could see the kitchen that has a nice sized island and the dining room.

"Oh this is nice" I said

"So that kitchen huh" Marie laughed

"I like it" I laughed

"Would you like to see the rooms?" Marie asked

"Yup" I smiled

"So it's three bed room and two and a half bath. My room and the one room are set up. Yours has things but there nothing on the bed. Like sheets and blankets and stuff" Marie said

"Snazzy" I laughed

Marie smiled and lead me around the house. The one guest room was right by the front door and looked nice. That had the main guest bathroom which was the half bath. Then we went towards the back and there were two doors.

"So this is my room" Marie said "Our rooms are kinda the same but a little different"

Walking in it was a decent size. A little too big for me but it's not my room. She showed me around and she has a walk in closet and master bathroom. Which has a walk in shower and tub. Then we walked out and she opened the door to the other room. It was slightly smaller and I like this size. Walking around, this one also had a walk in closet and it's own master bath. But no tub just a nice walk in shower.

"So, what do you think?" Marie asked

"This is so nice" I smiled

"Do you like it?" She said

"Yes I love it chicky" I smiled

She hugged me and I hugged my friend back, then we started bringing my s**t inside. Putting all of my stuff in my room, I looked at all my junk then at my friend.

"So what's the plan for tonight" I laughed

"Well. I haven't even slept in this house yet so I need to go food shopping. Uhm do you want to go eat dinner at my parents then go to the store?" She asked

"Sure why not" I laughed

She nodded and we both walked outside. Locking the door, we hopped in her truck and drove down the new dirt road to the original dirt road that went to her parents house. I made sure to text my cousin and let her know we made it. Walking inside, I was greeting by their pups who decided they both wanted to jump on me.

"Hi guys" I smiled petting them both.

Walking into the kitchen her parents both smiled when they saw me.

"Becca! Welcome back" Their mom said

"Hi" I smiled

"So, are you moved in yet?" Their dad asked

"Uhm, all my stuff is in my room and that's about it" I laughed

"I need to go food shopping but i'm hungry" Marie laughed

"Of course you need to go food shopping you haven't even slept over there yet. Just set up" Their dad laughed

I shook my head and Marie grabbed plated and stuff and we both sat down. Connor gave me a nod and I did the same. We ate dinner with her parents and they told me how the build went on the house.

"So how was Kansas?" Her mom asked

"Not bad. Work situation wasn't fun but my cousin got to pull the lawyer card so" I laughed

"Oh, I know this story. I hope you know you're going to have to tell it when you start Monday" Marie laughed

"Yeah, But when I moved down there I started at a large animal practice. They did a lot of farm animals. Anyway, I liked it but a lot of the other techs were older and burnt out and just kept arguing with the owner so one day they all just quit" I said

"Oh wow" Their mom said

"That sucks" Connor said

"It did, cause then I had to work a 12 hour shift and the owner tried saying I had to come in 6 days a week and work 12 hour shifts and I was like, yeah no." I said

"Isn't that illegal?" Their dad asked

"Yes. So, my cousin and I also talk about our work days so I told her and she was like yeah no. I had requested off the one day cause her and I were going out and just having a day to ourselves. The owner tried making me come in and I told her no. So later that day, my cousin had me call the owner, recorded on her phone and had me tell her i'm not working 6 12 hour days in a row and got her on a recording saying that if I don't i'm fired and good luck finding a lawyer to take a case if I try and sue. So I quit. My cousin took the case. Well she filed the lawsuit so me or something I don't know I signed things. And moral of the story is we went to court, I won, and they shut down. Then one of the old techs who I was kinda friendish with on a co worker level, messages me and said congrats she wished she did that" I said

"Oh wow. And how long had you been there?" Their mom asked

"A month" I smiled

"Damn" Connor laughed

"What did you do after?" Their dad asked

"Uhm went and worked for an urgent care who, for some reason, put me in a management position and yeah" I nodded

"Kansas seems fun" Connor said

"I mean besides that yeah, Kansas was fun" I laughed

We all finished dinner and I chatted with their parents for a couple minutes while Marie had to go blow up the bathroom. Always. Once she was done, we got back in the truck and made the 20 minute drive to the closest grocery store. Grabbing a cart each, yes each of us grabbed a cart, we started walking around. It's one of those store's that has food and everything else. I think I need two pillow cases. There were four pillows on the bed and I know I have 2 already. That's all the set I bought came with. Well I don't even know what size that is. It looks like a queen but who knows.

"Hey Marie. What size is my bed?" I asked

"Queen" She said

"Okay cool. The bedding I have already will fit. I just need two pillow cases. I think black should work" I said

She nodded and we started with non food. Grabbing a couple things each, we made our way to the grocery section and started grabbing food. We decided that we're each just going to pay for our carts then figure something out for next time. I have two days to un pack and relax so hopefully I should be good come Monday.

"Okay what do you do for lunch?" I asked

"Whatever I can find. Or order out" Marie laughed

"Do you want to meal prep?" I asked

"Meal prep?" She asked

"I'll make lunches for both of us for the week" I said

"Oh yes please. What ever you pick will probably be good. We both eat anything" Marie said

I nodded and she focused on dinner while I focused on lunches. We also got snacks and breakfast stuff. We love snacks. Even though this is a whole house with a whole kitchen, we still got some of the things we would make in college with what we had.

"Okay, I don't think we have any more room, uh, let's go" I laughed

"Yeah" Marie chuckled

Going up to check out, Marie went first then I went next while she went out to the truck. It's actually nice out here. I'm in a tee shirt and leggings and I'm comfortable. Paying the chunk of change, I walked out to the truck and added to the bags. Then I hopped in and we made the drive back to the house. As we pulled in the driveway it looked like Connor pulled in behind us. Marie made the turn off for her house and Connor followed us.

"Oh I wonder if my brother is gonna be nice and help carry in bags" She laughed

"Maybe" I replied

Pulling up to the house, Connor parked next to my truck and we all hopped out. And he has Braxton with him.

"Hey!" Braxton yelled

"Hey" I smiled

He came over and hugged me and now I have to pee.

"Are you two here to help us carry in our bags?" Marie smiled

"Yeah" Connor shrugged

"Great, Marie unlock the door I gotta pee" I laughed

Everyone else laughed as well and I ran into the half bath. Once I finished in there, I helped bring in the bags and we started putting things away. I got to my pillow cases and brought those to my room. As I started walking out the door, I saw a hook on the closet door. It's a sliding barn door and I love it.

"What is that" I said to myself walking over

"That's a hat hook" I heard

Jumping, Connor was standing in the door way.

"Oh, huh" I said

"I put that there. I put one on Marie's too. She has her hat hanging already. What do you think of the door?" he asked

"Oh I love it. I love the farm house style it's amazing" I smiled

"You still have your hat?" He asked

"Yeah, it's in one of the bins in it's box. I didn't want it to get damaged in transport" I said

Connor smiled with a nod and walked away. Looking at the hook one more time, I went back to the kitchen and continued to help put stuff away.

"So what are you girls up to tonight?" Braxton asked

"Going to f*****g bed" Marie said

"I'm un packing then going to bed" I laughed

"Lame" Connor said

"Hey, you drive 13 hours" I said

"Twice" Marie yelled

"Yeah yeah" Connor said

"Make him go to New York with you" Marie said

"I thought you wanted to see the city" I laughed

"Oh yeah. Never mind" She said

"Wait, I wanna go" Connor said

"No" Marie laughed

"Why" Connor asked

"I want to go" She shrugged

I just nodded and finished with the bags. Cool. That took a hot minute.

"Well we are going to a party tonight. Don't miss us" Connor said

"Bye boys" I smiled

They both waved and headed out. Marie and I looked at each other and she decided to go to bed. She also gave me a key. I tested it on the door and it works, cool. Going into my room, I started tearing into my suite cases. I have a dresser, walk in closet and bed side table. In the walk in closet is an area solely for shoes and boots. Which is a great thing. Once I got all my clothes in I found my bedding, made the bed and called it a night.
