After that incident, my peaceful life was disturbed. I felt watched every moment, although I knew there was no one out there watching me. It was unprecedented when my alpha returned after two weeks. It was midnight, so I tried to pretend to be asleep.
His rough hands touched my shoulder blades with stiffness, and I stayed still as he began to pull down the straps of my pajamas.
"I know you're awake," he whispered against my skin. Despite that, I remained still, allowing him to move me to the middle of the bed. His bare arms signaled what was coming, and a strange urgency to escape his touch made me put my hands on his chest. I heard him growl, and I pressed my lips into a thin line. "I will renew the mark on your neck."
In the darkness, I didn't see his face, but I was sure his teeth were protruding. I wanted to beg him not to do it, reflecting on this intrusive thought. It had never mattered to me before, but for some reason, a fury ignited within me. A quick movement snapped me out of my thoughts, his canine teeth sank into my neck without a hint of mercy. I moaned in pain, and tears welled up in my eyes.
I curled up on the bed and covered myself completely with the woolen sheets, carefully touching my neck and feeling my skin open. Blood trickled slowly, becoming slower and slower, gradually beginning to heal.
My daze didn't dissipate immediately; I didn't understand why my mind blamed me so much, if it hadn't mattered before, why did it now? What was different? I saw him move in the darkness and open the door; there was a blizzard. The moon was completely covered by clouds, and the absence of his figure indicated he had left the cabin. It seemed he had only come to mark me, possibly because my eighteenth birthday would soon be celebrated here.
Between thinking and blanking out, it became daylight. I didn't feel like getting up; I barely managed to do so. I wasn't hungry either; I straightened the bed, shook the sheets, and changed my clothes. When I left the cabin, I discovered the blizzard was still raging; I couldn't walk more than three meters without the wind trying to drag me along. The cold stung my cheeks, and I had to retreat inside. Fortunately or unfortunately, the weather remained like this for three full days.
It was strange that it lasted so long, but there was nothing to be done about it. When I could finally see the sun, I almost cried with happiness, although by the position, I could tell it was evening.
"Finally!" I exclaimed exaggeratedly. The confinement time was really getting to me; if I didn't get out, I would go crazy. My chest felt strange, as if something were missing; I was starting to feel very anxious since the mark on my neck had been renewed. I was definitely going crazy.
An explosion in the distance made me look in that direction; it seemed that something was happening very close to where I was. The sound of snow being stepped on caught my attention even more; in another situation, I would have hidden, but I recognized that smell.
"You should leave here," he suggested, approaching me.
"What's happening in the village?" I asked, ignoring his suggestion.
"Don't you hear all that?" He looked me straight in the eyes; we were about a meter apart. He scanned me, and his gaze stopped at my neck; I saw him wrinkle his nose and look at me with disgust. "And your alpha isn't here to defend you?"
"I don't need anyone to take care of me." I turned, feeling strangely hurt by his recent action. I was definitely confused.
"You can't stay here," he said more harshly; I looked at him over my shoulder. His outfit was torn; I imagined he had recently changed into his human form.
"Why?" I narrowed my eyes but kept looking at him. He clenched his jaw, looking so hot.
"Listen to me, pup." I turned my body violently, approaching him to strike him in the face, but he stopped my hand with his own. "I'm not playing."
"I have nowhere else to go." My eyes emanated fury; something about him irritated me so much.
"It's your damn problem; I fulfilled my duty to warn you." Before I could ask who had asked him to warn me, he ran off in his human form. Apart from the fact that he hadn't changed into his wolf form, I wondered if my alpha had sent him to tell me that.
"Alpha..." I called out in my mind; there was no immediate response.
"Tell me" He responded sharply.
"Is everything okay? I heard explosions." He didn't respond right away. I spent several minutes biting my nails and went inside when the sun finished setting; a large full moon appeared in a clear sky, and I knew I had to take shelter. The waterfall should wash away my scent; however, I couldn't trust it. I used a suppressor on my body and lay down when I began to feel dizzy. Something was wrong with me; maybe if I slept, I would feel better.
I lit a fire with old wood and clenched my stomach; maybe something was wrong with my alpha, and with the mark on my neck so recent, that's why the feeling was so strong.
My body throbbed and sweated; I gasped, writhing in pain, feeling nauseous. I got up and ran out of the cabin to avoid making a mess. The liquid burned my throat when my vomit came out; I felt dizzier than before, and my whole body hurt. I shivered, feeling my sweat starting to freeze. I was on my knees in the snow, looking down, and I saw my shadow clearly. The moon was above me, and I felt it watching me.
Everything was so strange and confusing. I staggered to my feet when I saw a figure approaching me; my vision blurred, and I couldn't react anymore. I lost consciousness completely.
