Kira did everything as she did that day many years ago. She walked in the forest alone. Old Drake spoke in her head. "I wish I knew you liked walking in the forest. I used to love being outside, but Sage always wanted to stay in."

Kira replied, "Yes. I love nature and I want to travel too."

Old Drake laughed inside. "Well, you already traveled back in time, love."

Kira froze at the word love. She was about to say something. Then she heard Sage. "Kira, you need to get ready for Alpha Drake."

Kira said, "I know, Sage."

Sage turned to leave. Kira waited a minute. Old Drake said, "Follow her. Don’t let her get in between us."

Beta Grim walked along the path to Silvermoon pack with Alpha Drake. He listened close. He kept looking around. He tried to remember when it all happened. The moment he heard the arrow. He did not realize Alpha Drake got hit last time. Grim said, "Alpha Drake, I think I should move ahead. Make sure things are okay."

Drake replied, "No, it’s okay, Beta Grim. Kira came the other night. She told me they want peace. I feel great about this bond."

They turned on the path. An arrow shot past plain. It hit a tree hard. They heard two people fighting. Beta Grim knew Kira had found Sage.

Kira followed Sage quiet. She saw Sage get behind a tree. Sage held her bow and arrow. Sage kept looking for Alpha Drake.

Kira thought about her plan to kill him. Old Drake said, "I don’t think she had a plan. She wanted you to suffer. Getting me was a bonus."

Kira heard voices in the world. Not in her head. It was new Alpha Drake and Beta Grim. She saw Sage hold the arrow tight. Kira attacked fast. The arrow missed wide.

Alpha Drake and Beta Grim came up quick. Alpha Drake said, "What the hell is going on?"

Kira pinned Sage against the tree. She held the arrow close to Sage. Kira said to Sage, "Should I tell him or you?"

Alpha Drake asked, "Tell me what."

Kira said, "Sage had this arrow pointed right at you, Alpha Drake. It has poison on it. She wanted to kill you."

Sage said, "No! Kira made me do it. She does not want to be your mate. She and her father want a war."

Kira said, "You are lying. Drake, it is not true."

Kira looked at Drake. She could see he believed Sage. Old Drake said in her head, "Kira, go to me. Look me in the eye. Let the mate bond show trust."

Kira let go of Sage and the arrow. Beta Grim grabbed Sage. He held her there tight.

Kira walked toward Alpha Drake. "Alpha Drake, it’s not true. I do not want a war. I want you." Kira kissed Alpha Drake deep.
