blood-related

I had to decline politely; there was no way I was going to be living with them. “Tell my aunt I appreciate this but—" “You can tell her in person Zurich, because it's starting from today.” “Well, I'm afraid I'm going to have to say no; I am happy where I am.” “Your aunt wants a normal life for you; she wants you to go to college.” “College, yes, I'm already going to college; I can snap a picture right now and show you. I'm in the college bathroom right now.” I said quickly. “Zurich, you know the family has been fighting for custody even when your mother was here.” He reminded me, and I swallowed hard. That was true; they argued that with her line of work I couldn't develop like a normal teen with her. Of course it never worked; she would always suck one of the judges' d***s and win the case. Now, I knew the family wanted the best for me, and I appreciated that they cared about me; s**t, they cared more than my own mother, but sadly for them it was too late, my brain was already f****d up because now all I wanted was for my stepdaddy to f**k me, that's all, and that's why I couldn't stay away from Gerald. "I'm afraid you have no say in this; I'm your aunt's lawyer, and if you don't come by yourself, if you don't let us pick you up, the authorities will have to get you.” “I don't want to live with my aunt; I don't want to stay away from Gerald.” “Gerald? Your stepdad?” He sounded surprised. I mean, of course he was; I just called my stepdad by his first name, and with everything, I didn't doubt he had suspicions now. "I'm sorry, I can't.” I hung up before he could reply and then ran out of the bathroom and rushed out of there like a mad person; I literally bumped into people and barely apologized as a lot was going on in my head. But while I rushed out, I pulled out my phone and dialed Gerald. “Zoe, can I call you back later?” “My aunt wants to take me away.” “What?” “They have custody; they want me to live with them starting now.” I barely breathed, and tears were already running down my cheeks. “Zoe, calm down.” “You have my custody, you have to fight, you're my legal parent, and you adopted me.” Yup, he did, and this made it more f****d up. “He said the custody application was approved; surely there's something you can do.” “Unfortunately, there's nothing I can do, Zoe. She's your aunt; you are blood-related." “So you're just going to give up on us? Didn't you say keeping me was the right decision? Don't you want to play with me anymore?” "My hands are tied right now, Zoe, and a lot is going on right now; I'm about to get married and—" “I accepted that. I understand you have to marry her to hide our affair; I completely get that.” “Zoe, it's not like that at all. Our relationship is inappropriate, okay? Maybe this is for the best.” “You're not serious.” I felt my heart break into pieces, like I was just broken up with. “I know, I don't want this as well, but it's for the best.” “If you don't want to fight for me, I will, and keep in mind if you reject me, I'm exposing you.” I warned him, and I was so used to ending calls in people's ears that before he could reply, I hung up and stared ahead of me. Right there sat the tall building; from outside, the smell of disinfectant stung. I didn't think twice; I let myself in and was determined to do whatever to get my goal.
