Ch 4: Investigate

My father goes on to tell Uncle Shay and commander Devon what he wants done. Meanwhile, Lacey comes over to talk to my mother about what she is gonna do in the extra room for Declan. I cant concentrate on any of their conversations at the moment. I am too busy in my head thinking about why I have such a feeling of dread. I end up walking by my father and uncle when he says, "Devon, I want four men guarding Declan and Ainsley's wing at all times. Also, I know this might be a bit much to ask of you guys, but you're the only ones I trust." "what is it you need us to do Brother?" "I need you guys to go through Declans' room and try and find any traces of liquid iron." "Is that what the healer thinks he was poisoned with?" I interrupt him "Yes that what he thinks Declan was poisoned with." Looking at my dad "Dad I could go through Declans room no one will bat and eye at me being in his room. We don't know who to trust or what is even going on. So let me go through Declans' and gather evidence and have Uncle Shay and Commander Devon investigate the people who have access to our private wings and food." That should keep everyone busy and out of my way. When I am done in Declan's room, I am gonna follow Hank the Snake around and see if he has anything to do with this. Dad looks at me in shock. "That is a good idea hun." Both my uncle and the commander smile at me, nodding their approval. Walking away, I thought about the best way to go about following Hank. Maybe I should wait till nighttime so I can follow him on his way home. I can see where he goes and who he comes into contact with. I will be out anyway because the bandits and the rouges are raiding villages and stealing Fae women. I was trained to defend my brother and kingdom.So, without my parents knowing, I went out at night saving the women and killing the men responsible. The only person who knows this is my brother. To our family and the rest of the nobility, I am just the Princess to the outside world. I am the Masked Midnight Assassin. The one who helps the villages when they need it. The one who saves the people that the castle doesn't hear about. I am also the only one who isn't afraid to kill a high official for the crimes they commit.Those I handle a little differently. You see, if there isn't evidence, then the council will just cover it up and that I won't let happen. The council hides a lot of stuff from my father, but not for much longer, because I have gathered the last bit of evidence to get rid of the current council. I am patient. I watch them. I learn their behavior and I gather the evidence once I have what I need. I put them on display and leave pictures of their crimes on the house of every council member so they know their time is ending. I keep secret files of every crime they commit in my safe room in the castle. No one should be above the law and I know what you think, but for me it's different because I have witnessed when a high official gets off free for their crimes. They do it again and again and the family that they ruin deserves justice and that is what I do. So by watching Hank, I will do the same. I will be patient. I will watch and if what he is doing is a crime against the crown, then Hank will go to sleep permanently. Walking back over to my mother and brother to see everything was going. "How are you feeling big brother? Did the Healer come over and tell you what for sure was wrong and when we can bust you out of here?" I am feeling better than I was when I got here, that is for sure." My brother says to me, then falls back to sleep. My mother answers the rest of my questions. "The Healer did come over while you were talking with everyone and with your Father. It is for sure iron poisoning, so they are in the process of flushing his system, which is why he is sleeping. It will probably take the rest of the afternoon." My father walks over as my mother is explaining to me. "So as soon as your father lets me go I will go and get the extra room in our wing cleared out with the help of the staff." She turns to glare at my father and he just gulps. It is so fun watching these two. My dad is a powerful, scary man when he is around others , but when it comes to his family, he is a puppy and loves us all to death. My mother, though, is the love of his life, but when he makes her mad he books it knowing her. She probably threatened to with hold s*x from him hahaha. "Honey, you can go up to the room, but I would prefer you take a couple of guards with you." My father tells my mother. "Is Lacey going with you to help you as well as your ladies? my father asks her. "Yes dear she is coming with me. I don't mind taking guards with us, but who is gonna stand guard for Declan, my love?" My mother looks at him. "Oscar is coming down to sit with Declan and Benji will be guarding the door honey." Oh boy Oscar. He is my brother's best friend and Lacey is secretly in love with him. If there is one person besides my family that I trust with my brother, it would definitely be Oscar. Oscar was born into nobility but his father was not nice at all. He beat him on a daily basis. When Declan found out, he told our dad and dad had his father brought in for questioning. To find out his father abused his mate daily, and Oscar got in the middle and took his mother's punishment. Now let me tell you, abuse of a mate and children is against the law and is dealt by breaking the mate bond, being stripped of all titles and jailed or killed. So my brother basically saved his family's life. Oscar's mother would not have lasted another month of the abuse. After his father was killed, Oscar threw himself into training both in Martial Arts Wepons and his studies to take over his father's duties. My mother just nods her head and says Good Choice. I looked over at my father and said, "Dad, while everyone goes about their projects or duties, I am going to pack up some clothes for Declan to be brought to his new room. I will also take this time to search his room and test everything for Iron." "How are you gonna test for Liquid or even, powder, Iron LeLe?" my father asked "The Healer I believe has something I can use. I am going to talk to him then get started in Declan's Room.
