Ch 5: My Brother's Room

Walking down to the corridor to the Healer's office, I knocked on his door and waited for him to answer. When he finally opened the door, he looked very annoyed but changed his expression when he noticed it was me. "Sorry Princess, I did mean to keep you waiting. What can I do for you?" He asks me "Is everything OK. You looked rather annoyed?" He just sighs "Yes Princess, everything is OK. I just got a rather annoying phone call from my mother about not finding my mate yet." I Just laugh a little. "I know the feeling my mother is on my brother and I's butt about it all the time I believe that they are working with Royal Family of every species to throw a ball next month for everyone to have a chance to meet their mates." He looked surprised that I was telling him this. "Thank you for telling me Princess it will give everyone hope. Now what can I do for you? "I need that kit that you have to test for any type of iron." He runs and grabs it from his desk. "Here you go Princess. Thanking him, I walked out of the Healers office and onto my brother's room.Walking down the hallways to Declan's room, I thought about the condition my big brother was in. He looks terrible. I pray to our goddess that he gets better and there are no long-term effects. He is strong. I know my big brother is strong. He will kick this poison in the butt. Finally getting to our hallway, I saw four guards spread out throughout the hallway. Walking up to Declan's door, I opened it and was smacked in the face by a horrible smell. "Oh good goddess what is that smell!" Searching around his room I finally found that horrendous stench, it was my brother's favorite kind of cheese. I grabbed the testing kit and hurried up and tested the cheese and, surprisingly, it came back negative. So I hurried up and threw it away, looking around his room and realized this was gonna take a hot minute. I mind linked my brother to see if he was awake. "Are you awake big brother?" "Yeah, sis I am, for the moment, whats up?" He replied but sounded sleepy, so he probably just woke up. "Just wondering if you have lost your sense of smell was as well. " I said back to him. "No that I thin about it yes I have why do you ask?" I can hear the weariness in his voice. "Well my darling brother it freaking smells extremely bad in here. Your favorite cheese seems to be spoiled." I giggled at him already knowing what his recaction was gonna be. "Oh no my cheese my poor cheese, I cant believe it went bad, I just ate it last night." I think I just puked in my mouth when he said that. "You are telling me you ate this foul smelling moldy cheese last night? It looks like it went bad three days ago!" I yelled at him "Oh my Sis, calm down, your giving me a headache. I will tell the Healer when he comes back in, but I doubt that's what is making me sick." He sounds exhausted. "It's not what is making you sick, bro, it's just nasty is all. OK, I'm gonna get back to work. You go back to sleep and get better." Using my Air Element, I open my brother's doors to his balcony and recycle the air, blowing the bad smelling air out the doors and bringing in fresh clean air. Finally, done, I got back to work. It took me two hours to pack up some stuff my brother will need for his stay in mom's and dad's wing, find the item or items with iron in it and to clean his room up. I don't even think training was this exhausting. That is why I keep my room clean, so I don't have to do this all the time. Grabbing his bags, I leave his room, locking the door behind me and put a spell on it that stops everyone but me from going into his room. I made my way upstairs to mother and father's room. I figured mom and Lacey would be done by now. Walking in, I can definitely see I was very wrong. I guess dropping the bags off and leaving will not be happening. Sighing, I walked all the way in to talk to my mother. "Hey mom why are you and Lace still here? Where should I put the bags I brought from Declan's room?" Jumped in surprised at hearing my voice, Lace screams " HOLY CRAP DONT SCARE ME LIKE THAT!!" Laughing at her reactions gets me a swat on the head from my mother who is trying to hold back a giggle. "Sorry guys I didn't mean to scare you I just got done in Declans room and came up to give you guys the bags I packed for him." I tell them sitting down on the couch. Mom looks at me. "You look tired dear. What is the matter? How did everything go in his room? Did you find out what it was?" Rubbing my hands over my eyes, I looked at mom. "Well, your son is a slob, that is for sure. Oh! He lost his sense of smell, which he didn't realize till I asked him, but anyway. I walked into his room and was hit by a nasty smell. It was so bad my eyes watered. I found out it was that nasty cheese that he likes went bad. So I had to open up his balcony doors and recycle the air before I could even get started. I tested the cheese before throwing it away. It was negative before you ask.I thought, because he ate it so much, it would have been that but it wasn't. After packing, cleaning and searching for what poisoned Declan, I was tired as heck but I finally found it." After a few minutes of silence, mother finally asked "Where was the Iron concentrated at?" Yawning before telling her because I was that tired, I closed my eyes and answered. "Well, I found it in his shake powder that he loves to drink and mixed in with his body wash." Lacey mouth drops and giggles a little.Opening my eyes I glare at her then I notice she is giggling at my mothers face expression. My mother's mouth was just opening and closing like she could figure out the right words to say. Finally she just says what is on her mind. "Thats a little cleshay isn't it? I mean seriously, that it is totally predictable. I know humans have those shows and movies that show different ways people are killed and that is a total rip off of every human poisoning movie I have ever seen!" I look at my cousin who looks at me, then we both looked at my mother in shock then all three just bust out laughing. "Yeah I guess it kind of is isn't it. Well, anyway, I will leave you two to it. I put Declan's bags on the bed in his bedroom. I have to report this to dad and Uncle Shay, then I am taking a nap. Who knew cleaning my brother's room would be as tiring as combat training? Love you guys. I will see you both at dinner."
