(Kieran's POV)
Adrian didn't answer immediately. He just leaned back in the leather booth, his eyes fixed on me with a scrutinizing weight. He didn't say a word.
The silence made my skin itch. I reached up, adjusting my tie, trying to smooth over the sudden spike of irritation. I needed to correct my earlier outburst.
"Look, Derek Preston is obviously desperate to make a name for himself," I said, keeping my voice low. "We all know a contract with Lowells Corporation is a ticket to the big leagues. Startups do this all the time. They use a loss leader strategy just to rub elbows with the major players."
I took a sip of wine.
"I'd bet my car that Preston Construction is using predatory pricing to disrupt the market," I added.
Adrian shook his head
