NYLAH’S POV
I walked to the Pack kitchen after celebrating my deceased 24-year-old brother's and my own birthdays.
I turned seventeen today, yet nothing has changed for the better. My parents perceived me as a murderer; I killed my older brother, even though it wasn't my fault.
The Alpha degraded me; I was in charge of most things for my two older siblings, despite the fact that they had servants who could handle it as well as I could. My parents never complained. As I headed to the pack kitchen, I overheard other wolves criticizing me. However, it is well known that I couldn't shift, therefore my parents planned to give me a mate today whom I had no information about.
The charges that I was the murderer of Ospina made me cry every day, imploring him to come back to me and prove that I did not kill him; I loved him deeply. Before I could reach the Pack house, Alves came me and said, "Murder, you are wanted in the mating hall. Your selected mate would be extremely unlucky to have a wolfless soul like you as a mate. Do you think so?" he remarked jeeringly, and all I could do was remain silent.
I want to cry, but I can't, since Ospina always warned me in my nightmares, "You aren't allowed to wear any other dress than what you wear," and he went. I cried silently, wishing Ospina was there to console me. I wished he had never died, and I wished I hadn't desired a gift from Mother. None of this would have occurred. After wiping my tears away, I proceeded barefoot to the mating hall.
…
I observed other wolves using scenting to find mates, but I lack the ability to sniff hazardous substances talkless of scenting my mate. I stood someplace, anxiously waiting for my planned mate, despite the fact that I still did not want to leave home. But I had no option; perhaps he would be the one to lead me out of the riddle that was my life.
He hasn't arrived for hours. My parents later discovered that my selected mate no longer wants to marry me because I was wolfless. He had always claimed to love and appreciate me since I was ten years old, and now he is backtracking on his claims.
The Alpha angrily announced my banishment to the pack members, "From now on, Nylah Wilson will never be a member of the Pack. She is destined to be a rogue her entire life.
She had brought enough misfortune to this Pack," the Alpha stated authoritatively, "Is there anyone who wishes to protest her exile? Should the person make a projection now or never?” my Father inquired as he searched for a potential enemy.
The subsequent calm, which reigned, was filled with suspense and fear as the audience joined my father in his quest for an objection to the my punishment. Nobody dared to say anything, and I realized there was nothing left for me. My Mother has also turned against me.
Following the pronouncement, the guards attempted to haul me out of sight, but an unknown, powerful voice shouted, "Stop!" the voice resonated in the air, and everyone turned to face the antagonist, who, to my surprise, was Alpha Deiph. The Alpha of the most brave Pack reigned with a sense of strength.
My little brows were locked on his, even if he didn't notice; I wondered whether he just intended to add to my wounds, “Since she's going to be expelled, why not making her my slave instead? I do not mind the sum you specified; do you agree?" Alpha Deiph asked my Father, who without hesitation sold me to the cruel Alpha, "Yes. She's been worth nothing for years,”
Tears streamed down my cheeks as I looked at my Father with anguish; I couldn't believe he could sell his caring seven-year-old daughter, whom he once adored. Alpha Deiph shot me a glance. I'm not sure what the most nasty Alpha saw in me to make me his slave, other than to make my life a living nightmare.
…
I sat in my designated room after being unable to locate Alpha Deiph for several hours. Perhaps he wants to reconsider having me as his slave. But in the midst of my thoughts, I heard a tap on the door, and as I moved to open it, it swung open automatically, and a lady strolled in with a tray of dishes.
"Sorry for the delay, the Alpha wants you to eat this," the lady stated after placing a tray on the table opposite me. I wanted to oppose, but she quickly departed. I haven't eaten the dishes in the last five minutes.
The door slid wide; I expected to see the lady, but it was the majestic Alpha Deiph approaching me. I sprang up, hoping to get away from him, but he stopped me right there, “Sit down and stop running,” he warned, his tone authoritative.
I sat back on the bed, and he sat down in the chair in front of me, saying, "Start from the beginning. I want to know why you were banished," he said, peering directly into my eyes for an explanation. I detailed everything that had happened to him since the age of seven.
"I hope I have answered all your questions, Alpha?" I questioned, panicked, my gaze fixed on the floor; he offered me no response, as if he was hesitating with something in his head, "I think you're forgetting to ask her something?" Cristian, my wolf, brazenly asked, "Why are you so interested in her? I had nothing to do with that,”
"You do; I'd like to know her name. Ask her what her name is,” Cristian wanted more, and I noticed Alpha Deiph finally glancing at my face. My nervousness was triggered, but I wasn't expecting his next action; "What's your name?" he asked me. My legs froze for a few minutes, and I looked at him skeptically, "Pardon?"
"I asked you what your name is?" he repeated. His voice was angry and demanding, and I could tell. Don't irritate him; it is what I had learned about him, "Nylah," I said quietly, and I noticed him forcefully shaking his head as he heard my remark.
He stayed silent for a few minutes, still battling something within himself, “'I love her name; our mate has such a lovely name,” Cristian declared cheerfully.
