Amelia couldn't quite put into words what she felt in that moment.
It was as if a glacier had swept through her body, freezing her from head to toe. The bitterness clung to her, suffocating. Her hands trembled slightly as she held her phone, but whether it was from the cold weather or her thin outfit, she couldn't tell.
She wanted to confront Simon, to ask him what had kept him away. But in the end, not a single word made it past her screen.
What would asking accomplish? Would an answer bring her any sort of peace or comfort?
