Veronica Staple, she call her Vera her only best friend who before lived next door but transferred to a much cheaper neighborhood when at the time around when they were still approaching senior year that her father got fired from the company and they have to move out from their home, she did not go to college and starts working in the coffee shop where Kate would always hanged-out with her and now she have a son and no baby daddy to help her raise her son, Kate vowed to help her at any possible way that she could and treats Vera’s son as her own too, she’s the godmother to a beautiful mocha colored three years old boy. Vera was this perky cheerleader type girl when they were still in school, she was very active in the school’s extra-curricular activities and would actively participated on it, while Kate was this supporting roles ones she’s quite but when did participates she aced everything and would get high praised from their teachers and also would make Vera happy as well, their friendship has no jealousy towards each other’s successes and would supports one another every step of the way, when Kate went to college they make it to a point that they would still communicate on a daily basis as much as they could and updated each other always, Vera at first updated her about boys and the work she had before and eventually updating her about her pregnancy until such time that she would update Kate about her son’s small achievements. Kate would mostly talked to her about school and friends she met and often times when some of them visited her dorm room she would introduced some of them to Vera which she is thrilled too. Their friendship is as solid as a meteor rock and treated each other like sisters by blood, with no secrets and no hidden agendas knowing each and every detail about everything.             “Spill.” Vera took a time off, she saw Kate coming inside the shop with an expression she knew for a long time now, her face with a trace of worry, annoyed and pissed-off at someone face. “What are you talking about?” trying to hide her dismay from the betrayal of their friendship just to keep what’s bothering her from her friend, sometimes she hates that she can’t hide anything from Vera which ends up telling everything to her, but also it comforts her that she have someone she could just easily talks to and would know that she will always be there for her. “You know you can’t fool me Kate.” Her hands clasp towards each other waiting for her friend to spill the tea at her. “Fine.” Rolling her eyes and place the cup of coffee on top of the table. “I punched the C.E.O of Gadducci publishing this morning.” Usually that would make her proud knowing that she had punched an asshole but now she mostly felt ashamed that she did, as if she just hurt someone innocent but then yet she left a detail that would make this situation go into her own favor. “You did what?!” Vera eyes almost pops out and a drop on her coffee by Kate’s confession that makes her voice almost echoed around the place. “He was being inappropriate, and intimidating and very rude.” She quickly sips almost the entire cup at once from the nervousness she’s feeling which made her not understand why. “You are well aware that you could simply reprimand him right? By words?” emphasizing the last two words to her friend so she could understand the point she’s making. Kate’s face paled out and Vera knows there is more and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. “Okay fine, I’m going to tell you.” Kate take two deep breaths, straightens herself up and face her friend and trying to recall everything which obviously is still fresh from her head, how can she forget. She might not forget about it ten years after. “After the interview when I am about to exit his office he stopped me and ask me a question.” She stops and look at her friend who is intently listening to every word she’s saying, then she takes another sip of coffee. Vera is sitting just near the door which makes Kate’s view looks like a guard from the building that every person that would enter the premises visible for her, lurking at the corner of her eyes someone familiar but somewhat different. Earlier he wore a suit and tie and left him with blood stains on that probably expensive suit, on his knees and succumb to that pain she inflicted. But now the same man approaches towards the coffee shop with eyes looking at her, but he wearing a black shirt, pants and a pair of sneakers which makes his muscles prominent and although a small cut on his lips is still visible he confidently carries it with the most gorgeous look she ever seen and takes her breath away. The moment his hands touches the handle of the main door Kate finds herself gawking at him with dry mouth and nervousness all over her body. Vera noticed her friend’s blank expression and follows her gaze towards the man who approaches the counter and confidently order his drink. “Please don’t tell me that’s not him.” Vera eyes darted back at her friend who is obviously still in shock about what she is seeing which makes that the answer to her question. “Kate!” almost shouting at her Kate went back to reality and look at her friend. “Act cool.” That’s all she had to say, she wants to leave right then and there but she knew he saw her, just by the eye contact they made earlier, his intense gaze somewhat connecting to her indicates he got her. Her nervous self-piles up as she see him approaching their table.             He looks at the two woman, one obviously is mesmerized by him which he gets used to every women who is looking at him like that over the years and the other one is obviously nervous but keeps her face neutral which gives him the impression that she is offended by what he said to her earlier, can’t blame her that was inappropriate and he stepped out of the like. “Hello ladies, may I join in?” he said looking both at them. “Sure.” The one with the uniform answers which indicates him that she’s working here. “Hello Miss Coleman. And you are?” looking at the uniformed girl. “Veronica Staple, Vera. I am Kate’s friend.” She replied timidly. “Nice to meet you.” He place his cup on the table. “Vera would you mind, I would like to have a word with Kate here.” he smiles at her and he knows when he smiled at a woman, no one can resist him, he is a charmer but somehow he figured that wouldn’t work with Kate here. “Not at all, my break is almost finish anyway. I’ll see you later Kate. Nice meeting you.” She stand from her chair. “Adam, Adam Gadducci.” “Nice meeting you Adam.” She exits and went towards the back of the bar and leaving Kate gawking and silent and simply winked at her for approving, which makes Kate annoyed. And now she’s sitting her in front of the man she just punched earlier. “Are you following me or something?” she wishes she orders more so she would have an excuse to cover her face. “Don’t flatter yourself Kate, I am simply around the area and it so happened I want coffee.” He looks at her beautiful face and couldn’t stop thinking of the things he wants to do with her. “You have a nice building and yet your company fails to afford a decent coffee?” she’s feisty, the way he just likes. “I understand that you are very upset about what happened earlier and I don’t blame you for hurting me. It was disrespectful and I apologize.” He meant what he said, he is sorry. If there is one thing he acquired from the trait of his father, that is to respect the woman her wants and he deadly wants Kate all to himself, from the moment he saw her. “In all honesty, that was rude and impolite and disrespectful.” She crossed her arms in front of her body and look at him as he looks intensely at her as if he wants to eat her right then and there. “I know, and I want to make it up to you.” He flashes a smile at him. Usually women would smile back, others would be in his lap but Kate returns the favor with a glare of annoyance. “I believe this would be the last time we will ever going to speak Mr. Gadducci, you weirded me out to be honest and I can’t trust you with that.” She’s precise and direct to the point, which makes Adam wants her more, a woman who could stand up against him. Well played Adam.
