Chapter Four

1456 Words
A regular day of a mafia boss is not as draining as everybody thought it would be, a shot of expensive brandy on the other hand and if he pleased a cigar on the other but since Theodore Gadducci is in his prime age and all those vices when he’s young kind of taken a toll in his body now a days. And the visit to the doctor becomes more regular for him now, that’s why when Adam just graduating he already prepped him to run the entire business plus those unheard off transactions, he didn’t tell him everything just yet but he will soon. He needs to retire eventually but now that his competitors are just lurking on the sidelines he can’t fully entrust Adam to everything, that’s why he is okay with him starting his own business and somehow making a name in his own field. The large acre piece of land seems like nothing to him now a days but he is a proud person when he roams in his premises together with his companions, his body guards and those people whom he entrusts with his illegal transactions, those whom Adam as a young boy saw escorting someone and never returned. Their numbers seemed to increase over the years, his loyal comrades though some have been put to eternal sleep due to disloyalty some joined his pack and earned his trust in a most brutal way. Like killing someone for the sake of earning his loyalty, decreasing his prospects of competition. Theodore Gadducci is a dangerous man, lethal when others describes him. When his wife died there’s a piece in him that died with her, for him she’s an irreplaceable person even though a year after her death he had a few flings here and there, bunch of women going in and out in their vacation home or in their house and he didn’t mind if Adam will see them once in a while but every morning before doing his chores for the day he would see to it that he could talk to his son about the business and everything then when Adam left for work he would spend at least an hour in the hill where his wife is buried that could be seen from their bedroom window, the first place where the sun shines in the morning. Sometimes he would just sit there and reminisce all the happy times they spent together, other times he would ask all his entourage to just distance themselves when he is talking to his wife grave, just telling her about his day sometimes telling her about problems but mostly telling her how much he misses her, she was his jewel a jewel that money can’t buy and that’s the reason why his son Adam did not loathe him even though he once told him to stop his illegal doings because his mother died because of that. They had a few fights months after his wife died, but he came into understanding and he took care of it. A year after that shooting at the restaurant he found the gunmen, he let them confess but unfortunately their mouths were shut until their last breath down at the bottom of a boiling tank, while their body were burned flesh after flesh the mastermind remains a mystery at times he will think of someone particular but never did gather enough evidence to support his theory and this man is as dangerous as himself, his number one competitor. As time went by business is increasing and Adam is slowly processing everything, it’s as if he is ready to take control of it all but not quite there yet, Theodore thought he still needs more time and somehow Adam agrees with him, plus he still enjoying himself and his publishing company. While Theodore Gadducci just got back from the hill inside at the bottom of the stairs he saw a struggling Adam going up, with blood in his lips holding his guts as if he just being punched. “What happened?” he ran immediately towards his son with worried expression on his face. “Just complications at work.” He said wiping the blood from his lips. “What? Your books suddenly went on a riot?” trying to throw a little sarcasm out from the situation. “Just a certain applicant.” He responded. Adam took a sit to one of the couch from downstairs and lean backwards to relax himself. “You are well aware if you want to take down that person you certainly can you know.” Speaking as if it is that simple to take down one’s life. “It’s not necessary Dad, she’s not worth firing a bullet at.” Violence really runs in their blood, and he’s attitude towards that part is starting to show. “She? Now I did not raise you to inherit all of this so you could be beaten by a girl, Adam.” His mockery seemed to entertain him as he release a loud laugh echoing throughout the entire house. “We could easily teach that woman a lesson you know.” When Theodore would say teach a lesson especially to a woman it usually comprised with screaming and tying and mauling and ravishing with his body guards and enjoying her body, which the idea Adam hates. He know his father loved and respect his mother so dearly but to others he has no mercy. “Don’t Dad, don’t even think about it.” That statement shocked Theodore but then this is the first time he heard his son being punched by a woman before. All he knows that most woman he associated with adores him and his money. “I am interested to know more about this woman, son.” He sits down next to his aching son. With a busted lips and aching stomach. “She’s not that interesting Dad, just leave her alone.” He said under his breath. “That interests me son, maybe you could invite her over for dinner and let me get to know her?” Theodore is also known for his lavish parties, expensive champagnes, caterings and always invites the most important personalities around the city, business partners and tycoons and most of the time there is always a hidden agenda going on downstairs and for some reason Adam didn’t join any of those happenings downstairs, he kept himself busy with his invited friends and a few women parading around. “Not going to happen Dad.” He knew his father so well not to accept his invitation. “Why not? Something tells me this woman is different from the others. What’s with her? What’s her name? Is she from an influential family?” a name of a person is very important for him, because that means business opportunity for Theodore and not just business, possible investors to his under the table transactions as well. “Somehow important, but not the kind you’re interested in.” from the moment Adam saw her family name he already had an idea who she was, but to be sure of his theory the moment Kate walked out of his office he quickly run through a background check on her and just as he suspected she’s the daughter of the Chief of Police in the city a part of this world his family must be careful dealing with which explains her strong arms as she punched him in the gut. Just graduated and her mother died when she’s still a baby, she was raised by her father and her Aunt and surprisingly that’s it, no other connection or so. But strikingly gorgeous looks reminded him of someone but their no connection between the two and it would be very impossible. He called someone to further investigate on her, about her mother on where they came from and everything there is to know about her past, present and probably future and he can’t wait to hear all about her, after all she left a scar on him and he is ready to return the favor. “Try me.” Theodore warns. “Coleman, and that’s all you need to know and I’m sure that’s all you need, that’s a lot of information for a one word hint Dad.” He knows by just that he could easily track her down, even in a few seconds. “And Dad, don’t bother tracking her down, I will be the one to return the favor to her and nobody touches her or they will answer to me.” Theodore sensed his son’s serious expression and respects it, but still it won’t hurt just to have a peek of this strong armed woman. “Sure son. But the invitation to a dinner party is still open if you ever change your mind.” As he stood and walks towards his office. “I’ll keep that in mind.” He can’t wait to maul her in his bedroom and own her just for himself.
