Staring at herself in front of the mirror she can’t believe the conversation she had with her future boss or after the what happened and how they seem to have stared at each other be even consider it the workplace to be an actual workplace, but she have to bear in mind to be professional at all cost and she should maintain. She is being silly thinking about it, she is just assuming everything like a little girl who’s having a crush for the first time, she poked her head just by thinking such childish thing, it was just a kiss nothing more and probably to him it was just nothing and it was only the wine doing its job, she can’t overthink things, the situation is as complicated as it is, just as her father thinks about the business she’s about to have to go through, the possible business the Chief had assumed all along about the people she will be dealing soon and not just soon but soonest possible.

            Kate shakes her head trying to erase that thoughts of hers for she can’t afford to have a day dream at a time like this, she should focus on herself and tonight and just have a good time and besides her friends will be there, and she feels safe as well knowing Roberts and Higgins will be with them.

            Higgins on his way towards his tiny apartment still he can’t take his mind off with the whole Adam situation that he just saw. Kate and Adam, he feels deep inside that the Gadduccis are a dangerous people, he knows that they have illegal transactions that’s been off the Police’s radar. He’s been doing his own investigation against the huge empire but so far he is not going anywhere with the evidences he gathered, many are afraid of the two empire that seem to be running the town, the empire that are rivals even before Higgins was born maybe even before their parents were born, he don’t know. As his hands gripping on the steering wheel he also is thinking about tonight would possibly bring, he have to protect Kate at the same time he will have his investigation going on, somehow he is thankful that his partner Roberts will be there with them as well as Vera, hoping they will not leave Kate’s side at all cost. Parking through an empty parking space as a cop Higgins would’ve been suspicious but living in the neighborhood for a couple of years now since he moved out from his parent’s house and rent a space of his own, he gets accustomed to the environment the quietness it offers, he likes the neighborhood, the people are nice and the hood is clean, some are just being nice because he is a cop probably, some just feels safe when he is around, he has this aura that whenever he is around it just feels safe, mostly around his neighborhood are with families, some are old people whom have frequent visitors from their grandchildren, sure he have some head turners here and there but nothing really caught his attention the way Kate did, but Kate treats him like a brother because they were friends ever since he could remember and he can’t sway the idea that hopefully maybe one day she would change his mind and look at him differently. Walking towards the entrance door to his house he feels like someone is coming, something maybe. He practiced this eerie feeling you have when you know something is lurking or just coming your way, he stopped halfway towards his door and look the other way. Without looking twice on who it was, or she is a blonde girl with dark blue tight fitted dress and a snickers with all smiles coming his way, approaching his direction eagerly greeting him a huge hug, so tight he could her chest pressing into his.

“Hi Edward! How are you?” with a smile so bright that could light a thousand ships.

“Tracy! Wow” he seems awkward seeing her at this hour. “How you’ve been? When did you get here?” Tracy is the Granddaughter of Edward’s neighbor. The old couple living next to him The Sully, they’ve been so nice to him since he moved in, they were gracious of his presence and would invite him over for dinner most of the time, they treated him like their own grandson and he treated him like his grandparents as well. They are like family and that’s what he likes to stay in this place, it maybe old and dated and sure he could afford some suitable place than what he have right now but he can never buy a companion, a family like this one. They have a Granddaughter named Tracy who grew up with them and now almost done with college. Tracy seemed to have a thing with Edward and sure he finds her attractive and all but she seemed like a sister to him.

“Just got back a few hours ago, Gran is cooking dinner for my return and we would love for you to come over” Tracy loves having Edward around, he makes her feel safe. That eyes looking at him full of hope that he would say.

“Trace, I’m sorry, I have work tonight just grabbing a couple of things then I’m going. Gran cooking is really tempting. Probably tomorrow I’ll come and visit.” Slowly that one million dollar watts smile turn into a dark face, he wants to spend time with them, he considers them family but he can’t tonight, duty calls and he have to be in full alert because this isn’t just any assignment or any duty, he have to protect Kate and he also have to lurk with the entire fund raising going on.

“Okay, I’ll see you tomorrow.” Tracy walks towards their house, before she could take a step further from him he grabs her by the hand and hold those hands firmly.

“I’m happy you are back Trace. Great to see you” and just like that, he smile lightens up again and lean to plant a kiss in his cheeks and went her way. He looks at her until she close the front door into their house then he went through his way towards his’. He can’t help but smile from that simple encounter and Tracy becomes even more beautiful than their last encounter or probably he just didn’t notice her beauty up until tonight when he grabbed her hands and looked at her in the eyes as those smile just brightens her face with glee. Tracy is beautiful he thought, closing his door behind him and start heading to his bedroom to look for something to wear.

            Roberts still can’t erase that memory of her where he friend got killed in front of them while preparing for something to wear from the array of dress that she have to buy due to assignments and of course she attends galas but not always. Martha Roberts might be tough looking but she is also a woman and most of his colleagues failed to realize that. Some are also amazed that she can handle herself and fight for herself as well. Scanning through the possible dress she could wear for tonight where she could not attract any attention considering there will be some businessmen in there with gawking eyes everywhere, she needs discrete and modest looking dress for tonight because she too will be sneaking, and just observing with Kate and Vera by her side, just like Higgins she’s not planning to let Kate get out of her sight since Adam Gadducci has his eyes on her, he can’t stop staring at her and in her haunch wherever Kate will be Adam will be nearby and by the look at him she feels he is up to no good and Kate is not safe when she is alone with Adam and she can’t let that happen.
