CHAPTER EIGHTEEN
Doctor Charles Fisher stripped off his b****y scrubs, along with the surgical cap covering his salt-and-pepper hair, and tossed them into the locker room hamper in the labor and delivery unit of Cedar View Medical Center.
“Heard you had a rough night,” Doctor Gains – the skinny intern who reminded Charles of Bob Denver from Gilligan’s Island – commented as he pulled a bag of chocolate chip cookies from one of the lockers.
The rumor was true; it had been a difficult night. Called in for what he thought would be a routine birth, Charles had instead encountered a life-endangering hurdle.
