I took the smokes

"Y-yeah sure..." I said hesitantly

she smiled and took me across the parking lot where a man was pumping gas 'must be her boyfriend' I thought to myself.

She had a blue truck with huge wheels. Inside there was a huge middle console that could turn into a seat. I popped A smoke and stood there in the sidelines with my caffeine and trail mix.

"Dad open up the console. I want her beside me" I looked at her... "Noel" she said while holding out her hand "well c'mon gorgeous"

I blushed knowing that man was just her dad, and she wanted ME, out of all people. Like what the actual hell?

Her Dad got in and we drove off.

We arrived at a house that looked as if it were a douplex. A woman was standing behind a storm door on the left side of it. She had short, blonde, curly hair with eyes that differed in color. She had on a black dress with a locket around her neck with silver flats. She had 1 hand on her hip and the other holding a cigar.

The woman walked out...

"Well hello there" she said as she looked down at me with a fake smile. She looked up at Noel "and what might I ask is this little rats nest doing with you and your father?" She asked

Noel looked at me, and took me by the hand "you have no say in what I do anymore b***h"

The woman walked back inside with disgrace and Noel's Dad followed her and gave us both a look of anger and bitterness.

"Just leave them alone, we can go in my place. I never got your name" said Noel

"E-ellie" I said hesitantly. "But you can call me El if you want"

"Okay. It's late. Let's go inside and get you some tea" said Noel

"Y-you have a place for me to retire?" I ask

Noel smiled. " I will sleep on the couch, you can have my bed"

Before I went to bed, I finished my tea and wrote a note to put on my mom's front doorstep tomorrow morning.

'Maybe tomorrow will be a better day' I thought to myself.
