Even though he sounded annoyed, the unmistakable affection for her was still there. His action gladdened her heart because she had been fearful that he would no longer care about her.
“C’mon now dear,” she smiled weakly. “Doctor Jesse takes good care of me. When I heard you were coming, I asked them to leave because I wanted to spend time with you,”.
She stretched her hand towards him, an indication that he should come closer.
Since Cassidy started touching him, Chad feels nauseated when any other woman tries to get close. So, he quietly avoided her hand and moved to sit on the chair beside her bed.
Jada’s heart ached as her outstretched empty hand. Her eyes widened as she tried to hold back tears that were threatening to spill out.
