I made it through the night, thanks to Atlas's presence. He had stayed with me until the early hours of dawn, offering a sense of solace amidst the darkness. As morning arrived, the sun cast it's warm glow upon the castle as I diligently attended to my daily chores.
Just as I was lost in my thoughts, Atlas's voice echoed from behind. He approached me, breaking the silence with his voice filled with genuine concern.
"Good morning, Emily," he greeted.
"Atlas! You're awake already?" I exclaimed knowing that Atlas barely had any rest before dawn.
"I could ask you the same thing. You went to bed not almost three hour ago."
I bow my head down, signifying that I had no comments.
Atlas noticed that and continued "I can't help but wonder why someone like you, the Alpha's sister, is doing the house chores when there are servants everywhere."
I hesitated for a moment, trying to find a way to deflect his questions. "The castle is truly magnificent. There are wonders to behold and secrets waiting to be discovered within its walls." I said, grinning as I continued my chore.
"Changing the topic won't work, Emily." Atlas persisted with his questions.
I sighed, realizing I could no longer brush off his inquiries. With a mixture of reluctance and honesty, I finally responded.
"It's a complicated situation. There are dynamics at play that go beyond the surface. But for now, let's focus on the beauty of this castle."
Our conversation was momentarily interrupted as Beatrice and Ethan made their entrance, casting their watchful gazes upon us.
"Good morning, Beatrice. Good morning, Ethan," I greeted, my voice laced with calmness even though their presence sent a chill down my spine.
Beatrice's eyes narrowed as she observed our interaction, her curiosity piqued. "Emily, why don't you take a break, it seems you barely slept last night," She suggested with a smirk on her face.
It was clear that she was only trying to make a good impression on Atlas.
"Thank you, Lady Beatrice." I nodded
Atlas, ever polite, turned his attention to Ethan and Beatrice. "Good morning to you two. How was your night?"
Ethan smiled, his tone friendly. "It was eventful. Though, I'm preparing for the upcoming festivities. And you, Atlas? How was your night here?"
"My night was rather delightful, thanks to the wonderful company of Emily here." Atlas's grin widened, his eyes gleaming with mischief as he glanced in my direction.
Blushing at his words, I found myself unable to meet his gaze directly, I was aware of the complex dynamics surrounding us.
Beatrice swiftly interjected. "Well, Atlas, it's high time you explored every corner of this magnificent castle. Allow me to be your guide."
Ethan joined in, his voice carrying authority. "And as the new Beta, we have important pack matters to discuss, Atlas. But before all that, I think you should go with Beatrice for a tour"
Atlas turned to me, his eyes filled with reassurance and unspoken understanding. "Emily, I guess I'll see you soon."
I nodded with my gaze still fixed on the floor.
Soon, Atlas departed with Beatrice, leaving me to my chores with Ethan. I couldn't shake off the nagging sense of forthcoming trouble. The castle walls seemed to close in around me, as I grappled for air to breath.
"And, now...his gone." Ethan's words echoed immediately Atlas was out of sight. I fixed my gaze on the floor trembling, I knew Ethan wanted to scold me for yesterday, but I never knew that he have far more bigger plans for me.
"I told you to come to my chambers last night, didn't I!" He mumbled, trying not to raise his voice to much.
Ethan indeed summoned me to his chambers during the welcome party last night.
As his voice grew angrier but faint, shivers of fear grip my entire body. I have excuses to give about my absence, but venting it out will only fuel Ethan's anger. However, my silence didn't make things less horrific.
With my gaze fixed on the floor, Ethan grasped my hair and raised my face up. "You w***e! You were f*****g the Beta, wasn't it why you didn't come to my chambers? Huh!" He groaned in my ears with a thick voice.
The reason I didn't make it to Ethan wasn't because I was spending time with Atlas, rather it was because Ethan was drunk and had filled his chambers with curvy ladies, all to be f****d by him in one night.
Before I could say a word to defend myself, Ethan dragged me all the way to his chambers by my hair. I screamed in agony, the pain he inflicted was unbearable.
As we arrived at his chambers, he forcefully pushed my onto the floor. Upon falling down, my forehead hit the table on Ethan's room and it inflicted an injury on me.
"I'm so sorry! Please, it won't happen again!" I pleaded as hot tears glittered in my eyes.
"I may not inflict injuries on you, for now. However, I can make you experience a bitter sweet pain," Ethan vented in fury.
Immediately I heard the word, "bitter sweet pain" , I trembled. That's the most unbearable pain Ethan could inflict on me.
"Now, lie on the bed and spread those legs wide, you little w***e!" Ethan's groan deepens.
Hesitating to do as he said will only make things worst, so I had to quickly obey. I crawl onto his four feet high bed and reluctantly spread my legs. Even in that moment, I was pleading.
"Atlas can't save you from this b*****e. Remember, you brought this upon yourself."
"If only you stayed at home that night, your fate could have been different. You could have been the Beta, not Atlas." He proclaimed.
Just when my bitter sweet punishment was about to begin, footsteps started approaching Ethan's room.
With our heightened senses, we were able to hear the voice of the approacher as well. And behold, it was Atlas. Once again, he had rescued me from Ethan. It wasn't long enough, a knock on the door added to the voice.
Ethan pulled away from me, and headed towards the door. I quickly jumped off Ethan's bed and stood beside him.
He opened the door and there Atlas was, standing with a grin as Beatrice was approaching from few distance away. It seemed that Beatrice might have tried to stop Atlas from coming here.
"Why are you here, Atlas? I didn't expect the tour to be over by now. The castle is too mighty for you to see all in such a short note." Ethan proclaimed.
"Indeed, the castle is mighty. Though, I and Beatrice were just passing, but I decided to know my Alpha's chambers as well." Atlas replied with a grin.
"Huh...!" Atlas exclaimed, surprised to see me in Ethan's chambers. "Emily, you're also here. You're bleeding, what happened to your head?" Atlas questioned, seeing the injury I sustained when Ethan pushed me down the floor earlier.
"Ahem! ahem!"
Ethan cleared his throat, signifying that I dare not say anything about his actions earlier. I knew telling Atlas what really transpired will not seat well with him, it could destroy a bond between Alpha and Bata.
I quickly brushed off Atlas' concern, trying to downplay the situation. "Oh, it's nothing, just a scratch." I replied, my voice quivering slightly as I touched around the injury, hoping to convince Atlas.
Atlas' gaze was still fixed on my injury. "And, how did you get 'just a scratch'." He quoted my words.
At that moment I quickly had the best convincing excuse to tell Atlas. "I... I lost my footing earlier, but I will be fine."
A playful smile tugged at Atlas's lips as he responded, "huh? It seems you have an habit of losing your footing, Emily." He said, connecting how I had lost my footing as well in the garden at the Ironclaw pack.
Before I could reply, Beatrice interjected, her voice was laced with urgently. "Ethan..., You need to come see this. Everyone is frightened."
Our eyes widened in curiosity.
Before Ethan could say anything, we heard screams from behind the Castle. With Ethan Leading the way, we quickly rushing to where the screams were coming from.
On getting outside the castle, what lay before our eyes was mind troubling. Who could have done such a thing?
The thrilling saga had just began with the Deanite wolves surfacing after a very long time.
