Chapter six

For the next one month, Diva had been taking care of the young master Trent and later checking for an email on when to go for the university interview. She was supposed to receive the interview several days ago but until now, there has been no news yet. She wanted to call them and but she had been caught up the whole day, and when she decided to send an email later today,but late in the evening, she was blocked by his father and mother.

“You useless girl, do you think that you can get to the university without our consent?” Said the mother.

“Ever since you left the mansion you grew wings, do you think we will pay for your university fees? We cannot waste our money on useless people,” came her father's ridiculous voice.

“I was thinking of the reason I did not get my email, so it is you people!?" Diva held her chin as if in wonder, she did not show them any fear or naivety like the way she did before.

“Yes, it was us, we will use that letter to transfer Monica to that university, take it as a form of you thanking us for raising you," Missus Millie said, her head raised high as if she was talking about a great achievement. She was not afraid because, there were not too many people on this road, by quarter to eight, people are mostly in their houses due to cases of abduction.

“Should I be grateful for the bruises I have had ever since I joined that family of yours? Missus Rivera, do not get ahead of yourself," Diva sneered.

Mister Rivera raised his hands ready to slap her, but he had her cold voice, “I dare you to raise your hands against me, and I swear to anyone listening, I will make you pay!"

He shivered, was that the Diva he knew? No, the Diva he knew was weak and timid, she could shrink even before he raised his hands at her, he shook his head as if imagining things then laughed mockingly, “an ant threatening a tiger. Diva laughed out very hard and even held her abdomen, on one side she seemed to be laughing, but if you looked carefully through the dim lights of the night lamp, there were glistening tears at the corner of her eyes. She wanted to laugh out all those six years she has suffered in that house, but the laughter came out with tears. Those were the most painful years of her life, she would have rather chose to stay back at that forgotten place even though the old man had left, but the old man told her to be patient. At first she was happy that she was coming to meet people and family, because when she was at the place, she was studying online. The thought of meeting her biological family, made her jump up in joy, and that joy was too much that she forgot to look at the old man's saddened expression.

Those six years, were hell to her, all the torture she experienced, she will never forget them. It was not that she could not fight for herself, she was just trying to follow the old man's instructions and also connect with the family. There was a time she tried to retaliate, and she saw hell that day. They even said that if she continued to retaliate, she will never go back to school and because she thought that they were the ones funding her school fees, she had to lay low.

Diva tightly clenched her fist in anger, and stated word by word, “Mister and Mistress Rivera, let me tell you one thing, I will pay you back for everything you have done for me," she took two steps closer to Madam Millie and leaned towards her ears, then repeated, “every single debt you owe me over the past six years." After saying that, she walked past them as if they were nothing.

Madam Rivera was so stunned at the coldness the was emanating from Diva's voice that she had forgotten to react for a while, and when she regained her senses, Diva was already walking away, “you b..."

Diva turned and cut her words halfway, “oh, and one last thing, if you dare use my letter to transfer Monica to the University, I will go to Old Sterling and report you, he also knows I was waiting to go to that University. Moreover, you have been taking the credit for funding my fees and deep down you know you were not the ones doing it, " she shook her head as if in disappointment, then said, “so shameless," then walked away, leaving the two people blowing fumes from every hole in their body.

Diva, was leaving Old Sterling's house once she starts attending the campus. She already bought an affordable two bedroom apartment worth one point seven million and the rest she was using to renovate and buy furnitures. The moment she arrived, she took out her laptop, which was one of the things she bought with the money and started writing another letter to Azure University, the most famous university nation wide.

The next day, she arrived at the Villa thirty minutes before time and started to help with the house chores, “Miss Summers, I cannot thank you enough for the help you have been giving me this month.” From the time Diva started to work there, she had been arriving early and helping Jane, the house maid, to do house chores. Madam Jane has always been thanking her every time.

“Madam Jane, I have been doing this when I am at the house for the past six year, this little work means nothing to me,” she was not lying, she just started resting after she went to the Old Sterling house, and since he does not want her to do house chores, she ended up helping Madam Jane, maybe because doing house chores became a habit to her.

Suddenly, they heard the lift open and a grumpy man on a wheelchair was being pushed out by butler James. James helped the grumpy man with male staff, like using the washrooms and changing clothes, the office work was done by Matt and Diana, who was still in a coma in the hospital, and pushing him around and being sent to get other things for him, was her main job.

“Boss, can we go out today?” The moment Diva finished asking the question, the whole house became gloomy and quite. Everyone was holding their breathe as if they would be swallowed by air once they breathed out.
