Chapter four

1080 Words
Old Sterling was sitting on the couch next to the very important person room in the hospital. “Are you the protector, the old man was talking about?" Came Diva's voice from the bed. Her wounds were completely cleaned and bandaged and there was an infusion bag hanging beside the bed. Old Sterling laughed, “young girl, being a protector at this age, are you not thinking too high of me?" “Old man told me that there will be a protector for me, and we will meet at the right time." Old Sterling pretended not to hear, the old man had gained a lot of favors from people, and he never used it for himself. “anyway, the old man left a task for me," he paused then took out an envelope from his bag, then said, “here, he told me once you decide which university you want to go, I should give you this." Diva stretched her free hand and took the envelope from him, then, with the support of her infused hand, she slowly opened it trying her best not to disturb the needle that was in fusing nutrients in her body. In the envelope, there was a two million cheque, and a letter of acceptance from the University she had applied for, together with the requirements. She closed it back and put it under the pillow, then laid back. Old Sterling waited for her to ask any question but, none. He just watched as she put the envelope behind the pillow and laid back her head, then closed her eyes, “you do not have any questions for me? " He looked at her, and only after staring at her for a while, did he notice that she looks exactly as the male version in his house. Which led him to the question, should he introduce them to each other? “What question? All I know is that if you had anything else to tell me, there would only be two or three possibilities,” Old Sterling lifted the right leg and crossed it over to the other, then supported his chin with the back of his left hand, “which is?" He asked, his face full of interest in her assumption. “According to the Old Man, the first possibility is, you could have already told me, the second one, he gave you the specific time or age to give me the rest of information and the last one, you either needed to keep it a secret forever or some else who owes him a favor has the rest of the information." Silence. The room was filled with silence, Old Sterling was just watching her, and she was calmly staring at the ceiling as if thinking about life. Then, laughter. He laughed so hard that tears dropped from his left eye, “I guess you know him so well, it is like the whole world owes him a favor.” “Yeah, and he is good at planning ahead,” she concluded. “The doctor said, you can be discharged tomorrow morning," he looked at her to see whether she had any other opinions but when none came, he decided to continue, “your parents came earlier but I chased them out, also I told the doctor to take a picture of all the bruises and write a full description of everything he has examined on your body. " “Thank you.” She wanted to request for that to be done, because she needed evidence. The Rivera family are too proud to let her be, and once she left they would be very insecure because she was the family's time bomb. Those bruises and doctors' report will serve as evidence one day. “So, will you go back to the Rivera or will you go back to my house?" He had thought about it, if she meets him, then it is fate, and if she doesn't, it will still be according to fate. “When I go back to that house, it will be to destroy them," Diva said, her fist were clenched so tight that if she had long nails, white sheets from the hospital would have been dyed red. Two days later, after being discharged, she left the Sterling mansion in the morning and left a note for him. Eight in the morning, she stood in front of a big gate, and on the other side, was a villa. Several days ago, she had seen a work notice and wrote down the number, the good thing is that, she had a good memory, once she left the hospital and cashed the two million cheque, the first thing she did was buy a phone. Now she was at the gate arguing with the security about having an appointment. “Madam, as I said, the interview was yesterday," the security guard repeated the same statement for the twentieth time. “And as I said, they told me to come today, you can call them and tell them my name. Is that so hard?" Diva was also frustrated, what could it take him to just call and report her name? They had been at it for almost an hour until the other security came out. “Miss, you can go in," he opened the small gate for me and said, “just go straight and then turn left, someone will come to pick you there. “ Diva happily passed, but before she could leave, she turned back and took the guard's hand, “thank you very much, I know you started your shift early,” she took out a fifty dollar bill, a habit she learned from the old man, “here, buy yourself some coffee.” She gave the other guard a sneer and walked away, leaving them arguing about young master being angry and no one ever comes to the mansion. Diva did not care, she took an apple from her bag and started eating it casually, walking slowly and complaining about the long road to the villa. I the villa, a young man was in his study room, seated in a wheelchair facing another man opposite him, “you want to tell me, out of all the people who came for the interview, no one was qualified enough? " His voice came out in a low growl. “Young master, they were more interested in working for your name, than your legs."
