Chapter three

Diva walked out of the dark room supported by the two maids, she was led straight to the visitor's room, and the moment the door was opened, "Jean and Jane, why are you holding her? Diva is a strong girl," came a sweet and melodious female voice. It was the mistress of the house, when it comes to acting lovingly around outsiders, they were top notch.

"Right mum, I can't believe you let Diva sleep for that long while when it comes to us, you wake us as early as five thirty in the morning," Mercy's envious voice came from the side, "sis, you are so lucky."

Mistress Millie walked towards Diva with arms stretched open and a wide smile from year to year,"now, come here dear, I know you have had enough sleep," she turned around and looked at the visitor, "someone is here to see you."

Diva moved back swiftly before the mistress would touch her, "madam, we are not that close."

The mistress stiffened for a few seconds, then covered up with another smile, "come now dear, we have been so tolerant that now you are becoming notorious. But it is okay, we are still good family, and you will be with us for a long time." Her words sounded like she was being very tolerant of her, and that she still accepts her even if she is rude, but to Diva, it sounded like a warning.

Mister Rivera raised his hand, but before he could touch her, she shivered in fear causing Mister Rivera to drop his hands back on his side awkwardly. At first, he thought that after the warning from his wife, Diva would be afraid and act along with them,but it did not occur to him that she would shiver at the thought of his touch.

The guest witnessed everything, he had lived for seventy years on this land, and he could tell real from fake and this family was the latter. He could not help but wonder why the old man brought the girl back to this family, but the good thing is that before he left, he left her with a way out, " young girl..." Before he could complete his sentence, he heard a heavy thump on the floor. Diva had fainted.

"Quick call the family doctor," shouted Mister Rivera.

"No need, I already made an emergency call," replied the guest. He knew that once the family doctor came, he would just hide whatever was going on in this family, the old man sent him to her, and he had promised he would do it.

The family shivered in terror, if they take her to the hospital they would discover all the terrible things they are trying to hide, "Mister Sterling, don't you think it might be too late before the emergency arrive?" Mercy asked.

The guest, Mister Sterling did not bother to even look at her, he remembered all the information about this family, and how their background was too clean and felt like something was wrong. He knew they won't be late because he had called the moment Diva had entered that door, this whole, "we are family" act did not get to him. As a judge, he has worked worked with many people and judged many cases in court, and most of the people who claimed to be innocent, were the most evil.

Everyone one in Azura country knows about Judge Sterling, he was and still is the most ruthless judge in the country, and he is ranked third in the whole world, and his grandson Kalev, is a lawyer, apart from the first case that he lost when he was starting his career, from then on, he has been ruling the court with every case he takes, and now, rumors has it that he wants to follow his grandfather's footsteps.

Right on cue, the butler walked in with two medical people and directed them towards Diva, they placed the stretcher and gently put her on it, then carried her to the ambulance, "any family member who will ride with us?"

"I am her mother, I will accompany her," Millie took the opportunity and was about to jump in, but Old Sterling stopped, and got in, she was shocked for a while and could not gather any words. From the moment Diva had entered the room, Mister Sterling had started showing hostility.

"Mister Sterling, what is the meaning of this?" Mister Rivera asked, "this is a family matter and you have been meddling from the start," he was getting fed up with the old man's behavior. At first, he just wanted to let it go, he knew that even when she was rushed to the hospital, Millie would accompany her, and with a few stretched hands, the doctors would comply, but now...

Old Sterling opened his bag and took out a document, "I have a document here that states, I am his legal second guardian," he glanced at the medics and signaled them to go, "if you have a problem with that, meet me at the court," he dropped the last few words before the door was closed.

The Riveras picked the document that was dropped on the floor and carefully read it. As they read, their eyes grew wide open and their jaws dropped to the floor, "honey, when did we sign this?" At the bottom, there was signature for the both of them. They both tried to remember, but they could not come up with any thing, "is it fake?"

Marcus Rivera gave her a glare, "don't ever say that infront of anyone, with the respect the Sterling family had accumulated from the people, do you think they would be quite if they hear you talking bad about them?" He glanced at the seal for a few minutes, then continued, "moreover, do you think the Sterlings would go to an extent to break the law and fodge a document, especially to an unimportant person?"

That question shut the whole family up, it was true, the Sterling had never broken any law, and they would not do that just because of a useless person, besides, Diva was just a useless girl from the countryside with no powerful people. But on the other hand, how was she acquainted to Diva?
