Christian was having a cool night shower when his phone rang, he was surprised when he came out of the shower to see Linda's number ( which he got from the information his mom gave him)

He called her back immediately and she picked up

Linda? I'm sorry I was in the bathroom when your call came in, hope no problems?

Silence from the other line

Linda? Are you there? He asked

Chris, Linda called

Yess? Christian answered unsure

Will you be my husband?

Ook, maybe his ear is paining him or he was hallucinating because Chris couldn't believe he heard right'

Huhh?

Will you be my husband for Christmas? Linda asked again

Linda, are you Ok? Did my mom put you up to this?

No, I'm fine and you're mom knows nothing about this, please I would like to meet up with you tomorrow, that's if possible

No problems, you can text me the address and time, I will meet you there, Christian assured

15 minutes later, Linda still couldn't believe she did that, 'how could I have done this? She asked herself palming her face

Chris on the other hand couldn't believe what he just heard, he thought about calling his parents and telling them, but shook his head at that and said , let's wait for tomorrow .

Early next morning, Chris who hasn't been able to sleep the other night drove straight to Linda's house

But I haven't sent you our meeting address and time, Linda said surprised to see Chris at her door that early

I couldn't sleep yesterday night because I was worried about you and, Chris paused

And? Linda urged

And I am also curious about what you asked me yesterday night, were you actually serious about it? I hope you weren't drunk or something

No Chris, I wasn't drunk and I'm serious about it, come inside first, let me tell you the deal

Deal? Chris asked puzzled

Yeah, deal, Linda answered leading him inside

When they were both comfortably seated and relaxed

Linda proceeded to tell him about her predicament and the deal she wanted to make with him. Chris was left dumbfounded at the end .

So you mean, you want me to pretend to be your husband at your parents place? Chris asked finally finding his voice

Yes please, just for two weeks, Linda answered

Chris stood up and started pacing to and fro, ' and after the two weeks, what next? I mean won't your parents ask where's your husband if they no longer see me?

Don't worry about that part Chris , I will take care of it

Does my mom know about this? Did you plan this with her? Chris asked

Noo, no-one knows apart from the both of us,

Are you planning to tell her, since you're now both besties

No, No, I don't plan on telling her or anybody else too

Chris kept quiet for a minute which seemed like eternity to Linda

Linda, this is ridiculous, Chris said finally, laughed sarcastically and started to leave

Chris please, I know I can't pay you because you obviously don't need my money, but please after this, I will do anything you want from me, Linda pleaded

Linda, what do you think of me? Chris bursted out in anger,

No, what exactly? Do you think I can live a deceitful life? You got worried all night only for me to come here and hear this? I never expected this from you, I know I don't know you yet, but I don't even know why I feel so disappointed,'' Chris walked away .

15 minutes later, Linda was still feeling ashamed of herself and weeping silently when she heard, " You said you would do anything I want from you?

She looked up to see Chris standing by her door

Chris bent closer to her, held her hand and said calmly' is this really necessary? Do you really have to lie to your family? You can just tell them the truth,

You won't understand Chris, this is the third time I'm making this promise to them. I'm very sure they would be very hurt if I fail them again this year, Linda said, still sobbing.

I don't understand, why would you make a promise on something you have no power over, Chris asked clearly confused

They kinda forced me, I had to say it to escape their tongue lashing, Linda explained

Chris hugged her to himself and consoled her.

When she finally stopped crying, he said, I am going to do it, but I have a condition
