Joan’s P.O.V When i first woke up that morning, i didn’t know the world was about to change. I’d been having strange dreams for days, dreams filled with fire and wolves and a voice i couldn’t quite place whispering, “It’s time.”At first, i thought it was nerves. Maybe even guilt. After all, our story hadn’t started with truth. But now, as i rested my hands on my belly, flat as it was, something deep within me felt different. Real. Raven had kissed me on the forehead before leaving to train at dawn, his usual warmth lingering like sunlight even after he was gone. He didn’t say anything about how scared he had become, but i saw the worry in his eyes. The hope too. That fragile, flickering hope he tried so hard to protect. I didn’t expect the Elders to come. Not that day. Not so soon. W
