15. He was taking revenge

I flinch open my eyelids to Ty yanking away my pillow and beating my ass with the same. "Ahh..!" I groan and roll about on the bed. "Aren't you going to school today? How many times should I call you?" He asks. "What's the time now?" I ask rubbing my eyes and yawning. "8: 15!" he replies. What!? Did I really sleep more than 5 hours? But I don't feel like it. "s**t! I need to shower!" I groan. "What the hell were you doing untill 3 Am?" He growls at me. Apparently I went to sleep when he woke up to pee in the morning and shouted at me seeing lights in my room. "I was working on the game. Didn't realise it was already 3," I mumble, rubbing my eyes. "I'll leave in fifteen minutes. Get ready by then or you'll have to walk to school," he says and walks out of my room. "Oh no!" I crawl out of the bed, kicking away the blankets. Then I rush to the bathroom, grabbing my towel. I take a quick bath and get ready quickly in fifteen minutes. When I rush downstairs, Ty is having his breakfast at the dining table. My breakfast is already served beside him. So I quickly sit down and start munching down the sandwich along with the chocolate milkshake. It's 8:35 when we finally leave home. Ty is the one who drives. Within fifteen minutes, we reach school and the bell rings just when I step into my first class, English. Our handsome young English teacher Mr. Davis arrives soon after and starts the class. But Aaron doesn't show up even after ten minutes. After that, I was sure he wouldn't come. He had a small headache while we were doing combine study yesterday. It worsened after he reached back home but he said he'll be okay by morning. I call Aaron after the first hour and learn he is lying on his bed in his room, playing a game. Apparently, his Mom told him not to go to school today and go to a doctor instead. He happily agreed although he is perfectly okay right now. Lazy boy! However, he said he will come to school afternoon to watch Ty's match. "Is Aaron not well?" Ty asks me while we have lunch. Today we both were alone as the other boys had eaten earlier and were now practicing in the basketball court since they have match in a few hours. Ty for some reason waited to have lunch with me. "From when did you start caring about Aaron?" I ask looking up at him. Actually, yesterday also during combine study, he wasn't very harsh upon Aaron. He didn't beat him with the wooden scale and he even ended our section before 7, realising Aaron isn't feeling well. "Okay, you don't need to say. It's not like I care for him," he says and goes back to having his lunch. "Yeah, I called him. He isn't well. His headache only worsened and he went to the Doctor. They did some scanning and blood test and all," I say in a worried tone whilst looking down at my plate but side-eying his expression. "Scanning?" Ty frowns. "Uhm..they found something complicated," I say. "Complicated?? What?" he furrows his eyebrows. "Don't worry. They just doubt there is a small tumor growing in his brain. Let's hope there won't be anything like that," I say, slowly chewing my food. "What! Tumor!?" he literally panics. "Yeah.." I nod, trying hard to control myself from breaking out into a laughter. I didn't really think he would react like this. So he actually cares for Aaron a lot. "Carrie, say clearly! What's wrong with him? When will the results come?" he asks in extreme concern and worry. Woah! he really believed it? "Tomorrow," I reply. "Aaron is hella worried. But I told him not to worry. I think it's just because he overstressed his eyes. There won't be any tumor or anything." Ty bites down on his lips in nervousness and I have to chew my tongue to prevent myself from bursting out into laughter. "He told me to tell you all the best for your match. He wanted to come. Even yesterday he told me he wants to watch your match. But sadly he won't be able to come. The doctor told him to take rest," I say Ty doesn't reply anything but looks down at his plate and simply swirls his fork inside it. Normally if I tell him Aaron told him all the best, he would just say he doesn't want it. But poor boy, he is really worried now. And I'm damn sure he'll kill me if I tell him that I just pranked him. I guess it's better to text him it was a prank after I reach my next class. "Why aren't you eating? C'mon, eat. Most probably there won't be any tumor or anything. Don't worry," I say. "I'm not worried," he mumbles. "Oh okay, sorry. Maybe you want him to actually have a tumor and die," I mumble. Ty looks up from his plate with widened eyes. I literally stop chewing by the looks he was giving me. "I- I mean..you hate him, right?" "Can you just shut up?" he asks furiously. "Okay," I nod. We don't talk a word after that. Ty doesn't seem too worried. He is cool and he finished his whole plate. But still, I feel nervous. I don't know what he is going to do to me after he knows it was a pure prank. I meet someone on my trip to my next hour, chemistry. The person blocks me in the hallway with his pale veiny arms. Yeah, it's none else than that jerk. "What happened to your video game partner today?" He asks. Oh! So he found out we are making video game together? And he noticed Aaron is absent? "Why do you want to know about him now? Do you have a secret crush on him or something?" I frown at him. He clicks his tongue in annoyance and walks away, making me wonder again what his issue is. Anyway, I resume my walk and soon reach the chemistry class where I get immersed in a talk with the guys sitting beside my desk about today's basketball match. They are pretty confident that our school team will win this match. Just after Mr. Henry enters our classroom, I take my phone and text Ty that it was a prank and Aaron is perfectly alright. I then place my phone in my pocket and tries to concentrate in the class. However, soon my attention deviates as I notice Brent staring at me from across the classroom. He quickly looks away on getting caught. But a few minutes later, I once again catch him staring and I raise an eyebrow at him. He shrugs his shoulders this time before looking away. I wonder he got a crush on me or something. Someone calls my name from behind me as I walk towards the computer lab for my next hour, computer science. I turn around to see an unfamiliar girl. "Hi, how do you know my name?" I smile at her. "I know you are Tyler's cousin. You heard about what happened to him?" She asks. "What? What happened to Ty?" I ask confused and anxious. "We had biology together last hour. He rushed out of the class while Mr. Keating was showing a presentation on cancer. I heard he was throwing up in the toilet and he is now taken to the nurse. He has match today, right?" She asks. "Oh s**t!" my hands involuntarily goes to my head. Then I turn around and run in direction of the nurse’s room. I know that Ty has the habit of throwing up when he is really anxious. I fish out my phone and see Ty hasn't seen my messages yet. This happened because of me. f**k! What did I do? He has a match in two hours. But I really didn't think it would affect him this much and he will start throwing up. And why this Mr. Keating had to show the presentation on cancer, today itself? When I reach the nurse's cabin, Brent, Rhett, Ben and a lot of other basketballers are standing outside, worried. "How is Ty?" I ask Rhett in worry, totally regretting what I did. "Don't know what suddenly happened to him. He threw up a lot. He is really weak now," he replies. I barge into the room, pushing away some of the basketballers to see Ty sitting on a chair, leaning against the wall. Asher is standing beside him, his hands crossed over his chest and his expression blank. "Ty, what happened?" I ask rushing to him. "He threw up. Don't know whether he'll be able to play," Asher replies. "Ty, are you worried about Aaron ?" I ask lowly. He doesn't say anything. Looking at his face, I can see he cried. His eyes are so red. "Come, I need to talk to you," I say and grab his hands, pulling him up from the chair. "Hey! What are you doing? He isn't well," Asher snarls at me, grabbing my other hand. "I know what to do," I say yanking away Asher's hands before dragging Ty out of the nurse’s room while the nurse, Asher and a lot of other basketballers yell at me to leave Ty. I ignore them and drag him away from all of them. "Carrie, where are you taking me?" Ty asks me, his tone weak. "Let's go to the canteen and get you something to eat. You need energy for the match," I say. "I'll throw up." "No you won't," I say and continue dragging him to the canteen. Finally, we reach the canteen and I make him sit down on one of the chairs before sitting down opposite him. "I'm sorry Ty. It was a prank," I say directly. Ty instantly furrows his eyebrows. "What was a prank?" "Aaron is perfectly alright. He's just lazy to come to school today. He doesn't have symptoms of tumor and they didn't do scanning or anything. I just made it up. And he'll come to watch your match," I reply, feeling myself grow nervous. Ty fists his hand into a ball and glares at me hard. But he doesn't say anything. "I'm sorry. You can hit me as much as you want when we reach home," I say biting down on my lips. "Why did you lie to me?" He finally asks. "I'm really sorry. But I didn't even think you will believe it. And I messaged you it was a prank. You didn't see my message. Ty, I honestly didn't think you'll get worried sick over him," I say. "Stop! I'm not worried about Aaron or anything. I don't care if he has tumor or cancer or whatever. I just got nervous about the match," he says whilst glaring at me furiously. Oh c'mon everyone knows he is lying. He got worried over Aaron. "But Caroline! You shouldn't have told me such a horrible lie. Wait until we reach home. Let me show you. You shouldn't lie to me again," he slams his fist on the table and I almost flinch in surprise. "Okay, let's think about it later. Now, tell me what do you want to eat?" I ask. "I want to eat Caroline fry if that's possible," he scoffs. "Sorry, that's not possible I guess," I giggle to lighten the mood. "Bring me anything. f**k!" he curses. I nod and get up from the chair without talking anything further. I go to the counter and order a sandwich and a chocolate milkshake. There was nothing left except the sandwich. Everything else had finished. I get the items and walk back to Ty. I place the food in front of him and sit down opposite him. He instantly starts sipping on the milkshake and munching on the sandwich. I bite back a small smile. Now it's clear, he was just worried about Aaron. Or else how can he eat without fearing he'd throw up again? However, I don't speak a word. I don't want to get him mad right now. After a minute, Asher comes pushing open the canteen doors whilst frowning at us. He stops in front of our table, staring hard at Ty, his expression a mixture of surprise and amusement. "You don't feel like throwing up now?" he asks him. "No, I'm alright," Ty replies and goes back to sipping on his milkshake. Asher looks at me and scrunches his eyebrows. "What did you do?" "You don't need to know what I did," I say. "Jeez! You know, you are such an impudent cheeky little thing. Why can't you just simply answer my question?" he brushes his blonde locks backward and shakes his head. Hello excuse me, what did he just call me? Impudent cheeky little thing?? I scowl at him as he drags a chair near to Ty and slumps down on it. He then sighs looking at me before averting his attention to Ty. The next moment, he reaches his hands to Ty's face and wipes his flushed cheeks. "How are you feeling now?" He asks softly. "I am fine to play," Ty mumbles, moving his face away. "It's okay if you can't play today. We have lot of matches coming," Asher says before stretching his hands to fix Ty's hair which was a bit disheveled and was falling over his eyebrows. But Ty stops him by grabbing his hands. "Stop it! I'm still angry at you. You haven't explained why you blackmailed her yet. It wasn't funny." Yeah, ask him Ty. Of course, it wasn't funny at all. Asher leaves a sigh before he finally responds, "Cause she did something funny to me." "I did what?" I frown at him. "You did something last year," he says blankly. "Last year, she wasn't even here," Ty points out. "Yeah, she wasn't here. She was at Goodwill high, Perellard." "Wait! You went there for some competition? You know her from before?" Ty asks, his eyebrows furrowing further. I was also frowning at Asher now. "Yeah, for the interschool literary quiz. She was the one handling the system, in a blue frock and white sandals," he says and averts his gaze to me. It's then I realise the whole thing. I soon feel my heart pound rapidly against my chest. Shit! The guy who won the second prize! That was him? "Now remember, Caroline?" he chuckles. "No, what are you talking about? I don't know," I shake my head. "Oh you still don't remember tampering my system in order to let your friend win? What did you do to my buzzer and moitor, Caroline?" He asks. "What!? She tampered your system?" Ty scofs and looks at me surprised. "Hey! I didn't do anything to your system. If something happened, it wasn't my fault!" "Then why did you smile when my buzzer stopped working?" "I didn't smile. Listen, I'm not involved in it. My job was just to provide you with the questions. I only did that!" I said and stood up from the chair. "Ty, look, I didn't do anything. Maybe something went wrong with his system. But I don't have a hand in it. Tell that your best friend. I'm going now. I've class," with that I turn around and briskly walk out of the canteen, heading in direction of the computer lab. So, Asher Carter wasn't simply messing around. He was taking his revenge with me. In truth, I did mess up with his system a little in the last round of the quiz. That was because the quiz master, our literature teacher told me to do that. Our dude was struggling to beat him and Mr Robert wanted me to help him win. I had no other option. I didn't think it would become such a trouble. I wonder how the blondie found out and how he still remembers me. When I first met him here, it didn't even slightly occur to me, I have seen him before.
