“Uhibbuk, Khaled,” I said. (I love you, Khaled.) Khaled stared intensely into my eyes as I sat on the floor. I placed my hands on his ankles, leaned forward and kissed the skin on the top of his feet. The phone rang and the Prince answered, nodding and listening to his employee. “Shukran,” the Prince said and hung up. (Thank you.) Khaled got out of bed and put on his robe. I got into bed and covered my nakedness with a sheet. He met one of his guards at the door. When Khaled returned, he placed an opened box upon the bed. His voice sounded cold. “You will clean yourself in the shower and then put this on Aisha. It is what you will wear on the plane trip. Your niqab.” I opened the box.
