✰ Chapter 18 ✰

1105 Words
“Come on baby, come on.” I say to myself watching the football game. This team is a pretty tough one. “He’s going to be fine.” My coach tells me. “Yeah I know, I just don’t want him being the fall guy if we lose.” I tell her with a frown on my face. My coach then rubs my back. “He won’t be, s**t, everyone will know that this is one tough team to beat, and between you and me, the Louisville scout was at the last game, watching Charles, and he was damn impressed with Charles.” She whispers to me. “And Charles doesn’t know?” I asked her. He would tell me if something that big happened to him. “Nope, and my husband is planning on telling him after this game.” She explains to me with a wink. “Wow, that’s amazing.” I admit. So even if we lose tonight, Charles will still have some good news. And that makes me beyond happy. “Good job Charles.”  I say to myself while looking right ahead. My attention back on the game. It’s the start of the final quarter, and we only need six more points, then we would beat that other’s team butts. We lost by one point. One freaking point. But we did play a pretty good game. Charles’ daddy and I were waiting for Charles by the entrance gate of the other’s teams football field. I look to see Charles and his team captain and head coach, and assistant coach were all huddled up. Once they got finished, Charles ran over to the two of us. “What did they want son?” His daddy asks him. Charles pulls me close to him in a side hug. “The University of Louisville scout saw my last game, and he was really damn impressed with me daddy.” Charles explains while kissing my on the head. His daddy had the biggest smile on his face. “Let’s just hope and pray, that you get accepted into that school.” He explains while giving Charles a pat on the back. “Yeah, I hope so daddy.” Charles chuckles. “Now come on, your mama is warming up the car, let’s grab some pizza.” His daddy tells us both. He then turns around and started heading out. I looked up at Charles and wrapped one arm around him, as we both followed after him. “I’m so proud of you babe.” I tell him. He looks down at me and smiles. “Thank you, beautiful.” He says with a grin.   ~*~*~*~**~*~*~*~ On our way back home, I was in the backseat with Charles, and he had his head on my lap, and I was playing with his hair and massaging his head. “I really regret being scheduled, to work tomorrow.” I sighed. “Yeah, I have to work tomorrow evening, and we get really busy on Saturdays and Sundays.” Charles tells me with a sigh. “We will make it through babe.” I tell him. “We will indeed.” He says turning his head, so he is looking up at me. “I just hope that we get accepted into Louisville.” I sighed. “We will babe, think positive.” He tells me. “Yeah okay.” I explain. He starts rubbing my arm, while giving me a small smile. “You’re so beautiful, you know that?” He asked me with a grin. “Charles Anderson!” I chastised playfully with a blush. “What? You are beautiful.” He tells me as a matter of fact. “Thanks.” I said with a blushing face still. “No problem, baby.” He grins. Later on, I walk inside my house through my front door, and then I close it and lock it from behind me. I made my way to the kitchen, and then grab a whole bunch of my mama’s leftover pork tenderloin with bacon pieces on it, and put it on a plate, then I grabbed five soup spoons full of mashed potatoes and placed that on my plate right next to the tenderloin. Once I put it in my microwave, I walk into the living room, and turn on the television in there. I took the remote with me and headed back into the kitchen. After placing the remote on the kitchen island, I opened up my refrigerator, and then grabbed a jug of the Publix sweet tea, and then a glass from the cabinet and poured some tea in the glass. “Well, to be honest here, I do not really care at all, what college Macie ends up going to.” I hear my mama tell someone. “I forgot for a second there that she was a senior in high school.” I hear my daddy say in bewilderment. “Oh, she certainly is Trevor, but frankly I don’t care because she isn’t on the school’s dance team.” My mama sighed. “Why the f**k isn’t she? Marissa was on the team for that school.” My daddy says sounding a little agitated. “Cheer was just her thing I guess.” My mama tells him. “Well if Marissa can do dance AND beauty pageants, then it shouldn’t be hard for Macie to even do so.” My daddy explains. “Only a few more months Trevor, and she’ll be gone, I’m thinking about making her bedroom into an office for me.” My mama explains. This made me roll my eyes and get my food out of the microwave. “Gosh I love my parents so much.” I said sarcastically to myself. I then started to stuff my face with a whole bunch of mashed potatoes. This will hopefully help me tonight. “Oh good, you found the leftovers, anyways, your daddy and I are going to a hotel for the weekend, so you can cook for yourself.” My mama tells me while walking inside the living room. “That sounds great mama.” I sighed. Then continued to mix a piece of pork, and mashed potatoes. Then put it in my mouth. “Yeah it is, so bye.” She tells me. And then leaves the living room.
