Though many readers will tragically have their own experiences of major bushfires, an event known as Black Saturday (and Black February) inspired the backstory of Dead Again as a way to honour those who fought, survived and died in the fires, and the lessons learned. That said, the town of Bullock, all characters and incidents are fictitious.
