Chapter Sixteen

747 Words
Tony's POV  Four more days and I can hold my mate in my arms. I sighed and ran my hands through my hair. What have I learned here? What is missing from all this? I recalled the conversation I had with Henry a few days ago. He's right. I need to ask my Alpha what is going on. I've been patient enough for the last ten days and I want answers now. I've seen all of this pack's territory and have met every single person who lives here. They don't have as large a pack as ours and I even remember most of their names.  I went down to his temporary office, that they had set up for him and knocked as patiently as I could.  "Come in Tony." He said as if he was expecting me.  "Alpha, I need to know what I am doing here. Or what you are doing here. I honestly am so confused about what you brought me here for?" I pleaded for answers.  "I know. Please sit." He gestured to the chair in front of his desk and I sat down. "Did you enjoy your time here?" He asked as he stood up from his chair.  "Yes. It's a beautiful place and very nice people. However what does that have to do with anything?" I asked, trying not to sound annoyed.  Damon stood by the window now looking outside. " I'm glad to hear. It is indeed a good pack and land. Unfortunately very weak if an attack were to happen."  "Alpha." I said hoping he would not keep the suspense up longer.  Sighing he said "Unfortunately, I cannot tell you exactly why we are here just yet. We just have to cover all our bases first. But... I am aware you're aching to be with your mate and I am sorry that I've taken you from her for so long after just finding each other. That was never part of the plan."  "I understand. We have been talking on the phone as much as we can but I am going mad without her." I exhaled sharply while running my hands over my face.  "I'm letting you go home." He said.  "You're what??" I asked in disbelief.  "You may leave today and connect with your mate." My Alpha repeated. "I will have to stay a bit longer though."  A smile formed on my face. I stood up and asked " You mean I can just leave, right now?"  "Yes. Take one of the cars. You should be there within an hour."  "Thank you!" I ran towards the door.  "And Tony!..." Damon called. I stopped in my tracks and turned around to face him once more.  "Yeah?" "Don't exert yourself too much." He said grinning at me.  "Is that an order, Alpha?" I asked him.  "Not officially, no."  "Then you bet I will do just that!" I laughed leaving his office. I ran towards the guest room that I had been staying in and threw my clothes into the bag. Within five minutes I was in the car driving towards the Blackpaw territory.  I tried calling Jessie over the Bluetooth to tell her I was on my way but the thick canopy of trees around us didn't give me any chance of a signal. I'll just have to find her once I get there then. The car ride was going smoothly. I haven't been this excited in a long time and it helped pass the time as I focused on the road ahead. I made my way towards the gates and informed the guards not to tell anyone I was here yet. At this point it might as well be a surprise. Heading towards the pack house I decided to park in the underground lot and sneak in.  How will I find her room though? I called Connor and asked him for Jessie's room information. Since he's mated to her best friend surely he must know. Again I asked him to keep my return quiet.  I got out of the car, closing the door quietly. Swung my bag over my shoulders and made my way to the first floor on the fire exit staircase. I checked if the coast was clear and ran down the hallway towards her room. I had no idea if she was there or not but the closer I got, I could smell her luscious scent entering my nose trills. Heart pounding in my chest, I knocked lightly.
