The sun had just crowned the distant mountains east of Dig #421 when the Clan set out for Blue Rock Canyon. Walking at the rear of the long procession snaking its way up the steep incline, Ipos said to Ramuell, “They’re already carrying four children. How much time will that add to the trek?”
“I don’t know. The adults range fifteen, twenty kilometres afield and often return carrying considerable forage and killed game animals. Their stamina and strength are pretty impressive,” Ramuell replied.
“So, how long is this hike to Blue Rock?”
“I’ve only done it once, and it took us about seven hours. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re able to maintain that pace even with the kids riding piggyback.” Ramuell snorted, “Heck, they may be waiting for us at the top of each ridge.”
