The Auction 2

Henry and Alexander finally made their way into the room where the auction was set to take place. As Alexander stepped into the bustling auction room, he found himself surrounded by a sea of elegantly dressed individuals, engaged in animated conversations while savoring their beverages, all eagerly anticipating the start of the auction. Henry ushered Alexander up to the second floor, where the VIP room was discreetly located. From this elevated vantage point, the entirety of the event lay before them, partitioned into several distinct sections. "Ladies and gentlemen, kindly keep a hush as the auction is about to commence," announced the auctioneer, an enchanting and assertive woman. "Now, for our first item…" With a flourish, the auctioneer unveiled the contents of the jade slips offered by Emgrand Group of Companies, eliciting curiosity and intrigue among the attendees. "This is a jade slip generously bestowed upon us by the Emgrand Group of Companies, granting the highest bidder exclusive access to a partnership slot in their 2 billion-dollar 6-star hotel project. We initiated the bidding at 20 million dollars, with no option for immediate purchase. Bidding shall begin now." "I bid 25 million dollars," declared a fervent participant, igniting the competition for Alexander's jade slip. "I shall raise the stakes to 50 million dollars," chimed in another. The auction room buzzed with competitive bids, and before long, the price of the jade slip soared into the hundreds of millions. "Five hundred million dollars!" Finally, a daring individual pushed the bid to an astonishing height, making a resounding statement. Despite the prestigious partnership opportunity with Emgrand Group, 500 million dollars was an exorbitant sum for a single item, especially considering it was only the first item on the auction roster. "Seven hundred million dollars," another enthusiastic bidder declared, further escalating the rivalry. Alexander observed this spirited bidding war with a knowing smile, fully aware of the substantial gains he was reaping from this fervent competition. "Seven hundred million dollars. Are there any further bids?" inquired the female auctioneer. A hushed silence descended upon the audience, as no one dared to surpass the current bid. "In the absence of additional bids, I hereby announce Mr. Number 20 as the victorious bidder of this jade slip," she declared, extending congratulations to the triumphant participant. Meanwhile, some attendees wore expressions of disappointment, unable to secure the coveted jade slip for themselves. "Now, we shall progress to the next item," the auctioneer continued, unveiling another jade slip. Those who had been disheartened by their previous losses now perked up, eager to participate once more. The bidding for the second jade slip began, eventually concluding with all five of Alexander's jade slips sold. Emgrand Group of Companies had reaped a substantial profit, tallying around 5 billion dollars—an unexpectedly staggering figure. Alexander had scarcely imagined that jade slips could fetch such exorbitant prices. The fortunate individuals who had secured the jade slips now clung to them as if holding the most prized possessions. Meanwhile, those who had been unsuccessful displayed expressions of frustration and longing. "Now, ladies and gentlemen, we move on to our next items," the emcee announced, presenting a selection of antiques, paintings, jewelry, and more. As the auction proceeded, each item fetched astonishing prices, often exceeding the expectations of the attendees. Alexander, however, found himself somewhat disheartened, as these items appeared to be ordinary and did not hold the allure of the extraordinary treasures he had hoped to discover. "Now, ladies and gentlemen, we have reached the c****x of today's auction, and this time there will be 3 final items we will auction to all those present. Please bring forth the first of these items," the emcee declared. The item was unveiled—a unique object concealed beneath a cloth. Alexander's curiosity was piqued as he sensed the presence of a spiritual artifact, although he couldn't discern its tier. With a dramatic flourish, the emcee unveiled the item, revealing a white pendant necklace adorned with intricate patterns. Its aura seemed to defy the natural laws of the world. Alexander had read in Leylin Farlier's journal about spiritual artifacts beyond Tier 10—Earth Tier, Heaven Tier, Legend Tier, and the pinnacle, Heavenly Tier. The Heavenly Tier, capable of defying the laws of the world, remained an enigma, and its crafting process was shrouded in mystery. Even during the era of the Gods, experts in spiritual artifacts could only create up to Legend Tier artifacts, with tremendous effort over hundreds of millions of years. For the present era, Earth Tier artifacts were considered exceedingly rare, and the discovery of one often led to fierce conflicts among cultivators. As for the Heavenly Tier, it was a tier of spiritual artifacts held by only four True Gods and five Demon Emperors. The Sage Deity, while powerful, lacked a Heavenly Tier artifact. These artifacts conceal the wearer's strength entirely, even when unleashing one's full power—unparalleled camouflage. "This is a remarkable discovery," Alexander thought to himself. He recalled that Heavenly Tier artifacts could store power and unleash it as an attack. The longer the energy was stored, the more formidable the resulting attack would be. However, opponents with sufficient awareness could evade the assault. "Ladies and gentlemen, this pendant necklace was unearthed from a forest cave, and its true purpose remains unknown. The initial bid for this unique item will begin at 5 million dollars, with bidding commencing now." The limited information available about the item left the auctioneer somewhat perplexed. Nevertheless, she was confident it would become the highlight of the auction, drawing fierce competition. Yet, to her astonishment, no bids were immediately forthcoming. The necklace's mysterious nature and lack of information rendered the attendees hesitant to wager their bids. The auctioneer's surprise grew as time ticked by without any bids, a situation she had never encountered before during a premium auction. "Two million, one hundred thousand dollars," a voice suddenly rang out from the VIP room above. The VIP room typically housed individuals with substantial wealth, avoiding the hassle of competing with those on the main floor.
