Cocoa and Mint

Aiden's POV

“Well, who is this?” I questioned.

“The name is Devon. Your wolf.” He replied

Laughing loudly, I said, “ohh Moon Goddess, I almost forgot about you.” I was so happy and excited that I just forgot about him. I so badly want to dance right now, but I’m so exhausted with shifting that I can’t.

“Well then, what about a run?” He asked, bringing me out of my thoughts.

“Let’s go, then. What are we waiting for?” saying this, we took off a lightning speed, feeling, seeing, and hearing everything clearer than ever before.

After running for some time with my wolf, I returned home climbing to my room through the window. So, that no one might see me coming from outside, but then I sensed some smell lingering in my room. The smell is not of only of one person but different people and they are familiar and fading too, then I remembered that my family must have come to wish me. I’ve completely forgotten about it.

“Where were you all night, Aiden?” came the voice of my dad standing at the doorway.

Slowly turning to him, lowering my head I replied, “gone to the lake, for a walk, dad.”

“You know very well, that any member of the pack is not allowed to go there alone. Then why the hell, you….” Before he was able to finish my mum interrupted him.

“Honey, it’s fine, it’s his birthday today. So, don’t angry at him.” She said to him coming my way.

“I know baby, but what if any rouge would have attacked him? He has not even got his wolf till now to fight back and save himself.”  He replied calmly.

“Yeah, but next time this will not happen, right son?” she said to him, turning towards me, and warning me silently saying it’s should not happen.

“Hugh…umm… yeah, this won’t happen again,” I replied to both looking between them.              

“Okay,” Dad replied. “And Happy birthday son” he wished me with a smile.

“Thank you dad” I hugged going to him.

Then we heard my mum, clearing her throat when we were enjoying our hug. With a chuckle we both smiled at her, “where is my hug?” she asked me making a pout. I Laughed seeing her childish behavior and hugged her, “Happy eighteenth birthday, my son.” She said hugging me.

“Thank you, mum, love you,” I said, getting “love you too” in reply.

“Excited to meet your wolf?” asked my dad, keeping his hands around my shoulder.

“I have told you both something” I replied remembering about my shift.

“Don’t tell me, you already had your first shift.” My mum said looking at me with daggers in her eyes as she caught about what I want to say.

I just nod my head in a reply to her. “WHAT?” she barked.

“Baby, calm down, we can still meet his wolf.” My dad said hugging her. Trying to cool her down.

Mark my word, ‘trying’.

“Why did you go there, if not then we would have also been there with you for your first shift no?” she said then angrily.

“Mumm, I’m sorry. I had not thought that I would be so late and also I thought that I will shift in the day time and not at the starting of the day.” I apologized to her, making a sad face.

“Now, you don’t be sad because of me on your day. It’s okay.” She replied hugging me once more and making me smile.

“Okay, now we will leave you alone, have some sleep. You need to look good today, not a zombie having  dark circles.” Dad said. Taking mum's hand and saying, “goodnight, son” he walked to the door. Turning back, my mum wished me again, “happy birthday, Aid. Good night.”

“Thank you, mum, and good night,” I said, and then they were gone closing the door.

I got to bed two hours before but still, I am not able to sleep, though I am exhausted right now. All this excitement is taking a load on me. Don’t know what has Moon Goddess kept in the box for me but I know there’s something great. Thinking all these, I suddenly heard my stomach growling out of hunger. After all the exhaustion and sleepless night, this was only left.

Getting out of bed, I left my room moving and reached the kitchen. Searching for something to eat, I saw portions of bacon in the fridge. So, I started savoring them, filling my growling stomach. Finishing, I started going back to my room, finally feeling sleep coming to take over. But then in the hallway, I stopped smelling a fragrance of cocoa with the mixture of mint, and my feet started taking steps towards the way from where the smell is coming. The smell is fading away, but I am sure that the owner of this smell, was here just a few minutes ago.

Getting closer to her, I can feel my wolf going crazy in my head. I am having a feeling that the path which my legs are following is of the girl, I know already. And as I came closer to her room, I just asked Moon Goddess only one thing, “Moon Goddess, is this happening? Have you blessed me with her? The girl I’ve adored and cared, since my childhood, is going to be my mate?”

I am just not able to believe this fact, never have thought that she could be my mate. The connection which  I used to feel with her, I think was because of this only. I was such a fool to not understand it before only. Finally, coming in front of her room, and smelling the sweet fragrance stronger, I heard my wolf howling and screaming saying, "MATE, go to mate." and then I became sure that, “SHE IS MY MATE.” I screamed in my mind. I was going to open her door, but then stopped myself from doing that. As the sensitive girl she is, I think if I’ll barge inside she will get scared, so it seems like, "we will have to wait till morning, buddy." I said in my head, mind linking my wolf, and got back to my room, and this time, sure enough about going in a deep sleep. I then slept, having the biggest smile on my lips, with the beautiful dream of my mate.

Avery’s POV

We all went to Aid’s room at midnight, to wish him a birthday as per our plan, but surprisingly, he’s not in his room.  Luna Mariah got tensed knowing her son’s absence and therefore, Alpha asked us all to go back to our rooms and have some sleep and not to take tension about Aids. So, we all went to our respective room along with alpha and luna to theirs.

I got to my room worrying about Aids. Where he must have gone to, in the middle of the night and that too even after knowing the strict orders of the alpha, not to go out alone during nights. I even tried to sleep, to take my mind out the fear of something happening to him, but sleep was not coming to me. I waited for hours, it was like I am deprived of sleep. So, I started to read one of my books thinking, reading might make me sleep, but instead of sleeping, I got involved in reading and I didn’t even notice the time.

After, some hours, I sensed as if someone going through the hallway. So, I got out of my room going towards the stairs, and then there I saw the person due to whom I struggling to sleep was savoring portions of bacon. But, seeing him I got some relief that he was safe and sound. Then, looking at him for some minutes, I moved from there to go to my room and have some sleep. I don’t want to have dark patches on my face during the function.

Climbing on my bed, I got into a deep slumber, smiling, and having dreams of him, maybe for the last time. Don’t know what will happen tomorrow, and if he will find his mate in someone else, then I forget him forever. Not even a dream of him I will allow myself to have. Praying for the best and good for everyone, I slept.
