Pack members

Having been dragged through the corridor, Gloria remembered only until a certain point the way back to the hall. Since her smelling senses were not the best she could not depend on them completely. However, only getting lost once, she found shortly the stairs, which led to the hall. It was the kind where you could see from the top the whole room. Following the talking of people she saw a group of people lively talking to each other. She suddenly felt shy about joining these strangers and she was not used being in a loud environment at home. Her father preferred the quietness. Even when it was the three of them sometimes the only sound was the cutlery, which filled the silence. She had got used to it over time. People were laughing, speaking, arguing, talking, eating. It was a very lively environment. She felt her confidence flatter. It was a new environment, completely a new pack with other dynamics then her pack, therefore her steps became hesitant. She took a deep breath and had internally made up to join them downstairs but not attracting much attention. She was suddenly grabbed from behind and she screamed. The crowd downstairs became completely silent and all looked up at her. So much for not attracting much attention chuckled her wolf. She turned and saw that the “attacker” was nobody else than Jonathon. She noticed also the tingles from his touch, which she tried to ignore. She had turned bright red whereas he was completely amused by her reaction and was enjoying this all too much. The pack members were laughing at the scenario and although feeling ashamed she laughed as well. Her idea of entering undetected was ridiculous in the first place. She leaned a bit back to Jonathon and both seem to relax instantly. He put his hand on her waist and whispered, “I could get used to that,” and sniffed her smell. It was an intoxicating smell. He brushed her hair aside and looked proudly at his marking. Forgetting about the pack members he brought his mouth closer to the marking. Her breathing had become irregular. This mate bond was stronger than what she thought. Someone was clearing his throat loudly and said in a teasing manner “You two are not alone. Get a room.” A not so low growl was heard from Jonathon not enjoying being teased by his pack members. They became quiet and looked everywhere else then at them. She whispered close to his ear, whilst hear breath was stroking his ear “They are just teasing, and we somehow forgot about them.” She giggled slightly and wanted to continue her way downstairs, however his grip on her had not lessened. She kept still, recognizing that he was thinking. She let him come to a conclusion. He seemed to have decided on something and came next to her and held her hand and they went together down the stairs. There was a huge kitchen and a couple of sofas spread around the living room. Then there was a long table, where apparently the pack members were eating all together. She was eyeing the living room curiously. One of the pack members seemed to be brave enough and asked her “How was the pack house in your old pack?” “The Alpha lived in a secluded house and the pack house was used to have meetings. So, it was less cozy than here,” she replied with an easy smile on her lips. Jonathon had heard her reply and appreciated her positive words. “Jonathon remodeled the living room and chose the furniture,” clear pride was heard from Joe.  In the meanwhile, he had introduced himself. He was one of the mated pack members. His mate was Jessica and she was at their home. She frowned and tried to recall Jessica. She had a mental image in front of her of a pretty woman with curly brown hair and a delicate figure. “You will mostly likely not remember her. You have met her today.” “I do remember her actually.” She smiled slightly at his surprised face. “She has curly brown hair with light green eyes, as far as I remember?” “Yes, exactly,” he said jumping up and being in sheer joy of her having remembered his mate. She looked confused and his happiness, but a warmth felt her. Her gaze went towards the kitchen. Another pack member, Fiona spoke with her and said “You must be hungry, Luna. There is some leftovers from the lunch we had. I can warm them for you.” “You can call me Gloria and if you show the whereabouts in the kitchen, I can prepare it myself,” she smiled warmly at her. Fiona seemed to be sweet with freckles and short blond hair. Fiona showed her where the plates and cutlery were and took the food out of the fridge. She saw that it was plenty of food. She looked towards Jonathon, who was surrounded by his pack members. She was hesitant whether to ask him if he would like to eat something as well and was biting her lip. As if feeling her gaze, he moved towards her, so that she was saved from shouting through the room to ask him if he would like to eat. It was the small things, which mattered. She had a gentle look on her face and felt self-conscious whilst asking him “Would you like to eat something as well? Are you hungry?”. He remained silent and looked stunned at her. She waited a bit but started to wiggle while standing due to the prolonged silence. He had still not answered, therefore she just got 2 plates out of the drawers. She was tall but to get them she had to scratch herself higher and she immediately felt a presence behind her, taking the plates from her hands. He made himself known and said “Sure, I will join you.” She recognized that it was their first meal together and got nervous. With a quick glance she saw that the other pack members were busying themselves and let their Alpha and Luna be by themselves. She was not sure how to start the conversation and a sudden shyness had occurred. At home, her father, although being not fond of her would not tolerate them to eat alone. It had become over time an obligation to ask each other to eat. She had always enjoyed her sisters’ company. Her father was another topic. This habit was the reason why she asked Jonathon to join her as well.  Jonathon had been silent as well; however, she felt the whole time his gaze on her. Once finished she looked up and saw that he looked straight into her eyes. She knew that looking too long into an Alpha’s eyes was seen as a challenge. However, she was not familiar how it was when the Alphas was your mate. She diverted her eyes after a while and asked “I would like to have a look around. Would it be ok for you?” She had purposefully added the question to show that she would take his opinion into consideration. Perhaps with this reverse psychology, he could be more attentive to her needs as well. It was a tiny step towards him, and she was curious to walk around or even shift and explore the new area, she was going to call from now on home. She felt a fast movement and stiffened instantly. He had used his wolf speed and stood beside her and had managed to hug her in a way that his face was way too close to hers and that her arms were trapped on both sides. The need to show her his dominance was starting to annoy her. She had learnt from Jack, how to fight even when your arms were trapped, and it took all her willpower not to hit him where it would hurt him the most. It might not be the best introduction to a new pack for hurting their Alpha in front of them.
