After the incident at the diner, she had relaxed a bit more and had started to do some small talk. It was her favorite way of communication. A small talk was touching the surface of topics without getting any depth. As the English could speak about the weather especially the rain for hours, so could the pack of fighters speak for hours over the fighting skills and training. Although, technically this was deeper than a small talk at some points. Whilst speaking, she could understand by their usage of words their attitude towards some things. It revealed more than most people thought.
Her heart started to beat faster as the surroundings were changing more. The nature became wilder and more untouched and she could feel also the happy mood in the car. They were coming closer with every step towards her new pack.
She tried to lower her expectations. The scenario was the same as with her home pack. She would live with a dominant man and had to follow the rules of the pack. Her freedom was compromised until a certain degree. The only thing is that there was no big sister, who would take most of the judgmental talk from the pack. She sighed at that thought. Her dream of Jim the farmer was gone for good it seemed to be. She had dreamt about a simple life with a mate called “Jim”. She had dreamt this dream over and over. It was a peaceful life and he was not an Alpha, Beta, Gemma or whatever kind of other alphabets there were. Being a Luna was the least think that she was expecting. For Shelia it was perfect. She was the perfect Luna with her soft manner, nice clothes and always controlled appearance. The one, who needed to be protected. How did she fit into the picture of the new pack? The Green Hill Pack was never mentioned in a loud manner apparently. It was made up of fierce fighters and they did not act unless it needed to be. She had heard some facts but did not have a deep knowledge since they seemed to have kept a mystery about themselves. Without a doubt strong but never revealing how strong they were. Even by the harmless name of the pack they could have been easily underestimated.
The narrow road through the forest cleared up and the sky was crystal blue. In front of them few pack members of the Green Hill seemed to be anticipating their arrival and a huge mansion was revealed. She was surprised. Jonathon felt proud of the astonished expression she seemed to have shown. He was proud of what he had built. Taking a deep breath, she got out of the car. Many curious eyes turned towards her. “Welcome back Alpha! Welcome Niels!” these were shouted by many. She tried to assess the closer once to her. All were strong built men, fierce looking men and women with their pups were amongst the group. All seemed to be as curious about her as she was about them. Some nodded towards her as a sign of acknowledgement. One of them said with a smirk and twinkle in his eyes “Welcome female guest”. He was tall and strong built and a younger looking one with similar features like Jonathon. A more relaxed version of him. She responded, “Thank you, Jonathon’s brother for welcoming me.” with a smile. She registered his surprise. Jonathon glared friendly at his brother and said, “Joe and all, this is Gloria and she is my mate. Not a guest but one of us”. Everyone was cheering and congratulating, and she could not help but smile at the enthusiastic welcome and their pure happiness for their Alpha. She looked down and saw a female pup hiding behind her mothers’ long skirts and glancing once in awhile at her. The piercing blue eyes caught her attention and she winked at the pup. The female pup shrieked in delight and hid again behind the long skirts of the mother. Cute, she thought. She had not been a big fan of children but had helped in the past in the nursery and had gotten more used to dealing with pups. Few had recognized the interaction since they were shoulder patting Jonathon and hugging him etc. They glanced at her, but she was recognizable not relaxed yet. She looked up at the mansion. It was a pack house and the Green Hill pack seemed to have one of these pack houses she had heard of were the Alpha was living with them and sharing the kitchen with his pack. She turned to the left and saw a stall with beautiful horses in them. A young stall boy was looking after them with unconcealed curiosity. She thought that within minutes the complete pack would know about their new visitor. Jonathon was at the front and seemed to have forgotten about her. They had not interacted much, even touched much and sleeping with him in the same room made her feel tense. Although, he was her mate, he was a complete stranger to her. She basically did not know much more than his status and his name. She had heard from many females how the mate bond created immediately a bond between the two, but she was far too logical to accept it without knowing more about him. She was picky with her friends, why should she not be picky with her mate? He might have been chosen by the MoonGooddess but he would need to prove himself to herself as well.
Before entering she looked one last time outside over her left shoulder. It felt like surrendering her freedom.
