Chapter 9 TALULLAH Scorch marks tattooed the bark of Gillie’s tree house. Renevelda’s fire hadn’t destroyed the Wood Faerie’s home, but magic always left traces. Sometimes the invisible ones carried more weight. Talullah raised her fist to knock on the triangular door. A low growl made her pause. She turned slowly, drawing a breath of earthy air and her hunting blade. A white wolf, the size of a miniature horse, locked its icy gray eyes on Talullah. “Kahu!” Talullah said to Gillie’s companion, letting out a relieved laugh. “You scared me half to death.” Kahu’s tail stiffened.
