“If you don’t come over here, I’m going to think you didn’t miss me as much as I missed you.” Dhalian laughed. That sound could move mountains or stop oceans, no magic necessary.
Talullah quietly shut her door and ran the few steps to him, sinking into her best friend’s chest. For a long moment, she just wrapped her arms around him and breathed in the ever-present scent of morning dew and honey. The Katamians had at least one thing right. The senses grounded her in that moment, made her believe it was real. Because if not for the warmth coming off Dhalian’s amber skin and the tightness of his embrace, she would have thought him a dream. An illusion. Her eyes could deceive her. Her ears, even. But her hands never lied. Dreams couldn’t touch.
