Dark clicked off the phone. “That’s it. Just closed on the land in Maine. Check is being dropped in the mail today. Insurance check arrived yesterday. Almost done wrapping that up.”
Destiny peered over at him. “Is that a relief or a concern?”
He shot her a lopsided grin. “Relief. With the insurance money from the lightning strike and selling the lot, I’ll have enough to replace my equipment and start work soon on those couple of home remodeling projects I accepted yesterday.”
“Guess that means you’re staying here with me?” She crossed the room to stop at his side.
“I do believe you promised I could stay here with you.”
“Uh, huh,” she verified with a hint of teasing in her tone.
“Nothing can drive me away,” he whispered, then brushed his lips over hers. “Ow!”
