* TRIGGER WARNING ⚠️ This Chapter May Be Disturbing To Some Readers * * Layla POV * Disoriented, always in a daze. Each time I started to focus on my surroundings I was met with a new form of pain. I never answered their questions. Random people were brought up, Edgar and some Pine person. Drake is a target to these people. They asked for my Alphas name, the packs location. At some point they asked about covens or something like that. I am not 100% sure. Every session that they questioned me would end with a needle in my neck. It stung my veins for a time, but my body has grown used to it and it does not put me to sleep anymore. I stay silent to think of work and the woods, a distraction from the pain. Never being able to focus on one particular memory was unbearable. I could feel my body healing as I hung by my wrists. Gashes across my back and legs. Not one part of my body was free from this torment. With a few broken ribs I wheeze to breathe. My lips cracked needing water, my stomach feeling empty didn't bother me anymore. The men put an IV in my arm days ago, it was easier than 'hand feeding'. "She can't keep quiet much longer." One of the men said by the door. "Sir, she started screaming again." I know they think I'm asleep, but I don't have the energy to even open my eyes to try and sneak a look at who they were. "We don't have time for that, lock her in. We are leaving tonight, everything is moved up by two." Footsteps start to fade before a pause. "If she survives the night here for us to evade the Alpha, I will personally see to retrieve her." He continued down the hall, his steps fading to silence. "Doubt she knows much to begin with but sure, let's just force it out of her anyway." The guy shuts the door talking to himself. I listen to him shuffle around the room and clutter some objects together. Layla? Can you hold on a bit longer? A voice asked me, I haven't heard her voice in so long. She appeared years ago, usually guiding me with random things but never responded to me otherwise. Who are you? I don't think this will work, I'm going to die crazy. I am a friend, everything will be explained later. What a cliché thing to say, but am I really going to argue with an inner voice? Your body is going to heal quickly, there is going to be a chance to escape and you are going to take it. Even if that means waiting for the Alpha to find this place. My leg is broken and I think my lung is collapsed, I can't get out of this place. I try to hide my emotions on the outside, feeling myself break at the thought of dying here. There was silence for a minute or two, I guess I am crazy. Suddenly I feel the shackles holding my wrists unclasp and my body fall limp into someone's arms. I cry out and open my eyes seeing the dark blue eyes. "You're awake?" He asked shocked. I open my mouth but instead of words I cough, it was a violent coughing, when I pulled away there was some blood on my chin and floor. Wiping away the blood he lifts me and lays me down on a matt. When he moved to readjust my legs I flinched away, everything he has done to me came back to mind. I remember my skin p*****g away from the flames he held to it. I can still feel the bone deep cuts he cauterized shut. Pulling the IV out slowly being careful not to touch my arm, he stands. "Heal and leave." He turns away and walks to the door. I just stare at him, trying to understand how days of pain he inflicted didn't bother him. Why is he telling me to leave when he is going to lock the door? "The Witches, serpent spells." He said before stepping out. "He will kill you if he finds you here." Laying in the room, my body didn't sting anymore, the main injuries seemed to have closed for the most part. I sit up moving my legs feeling the broken femur but I can put a little weight on the leg now. You should be good to leave quietly, we have been healing for 3 hours. I doubt the rogues have long before they leave. The voice pops up again. Excuse me? Rogues? I think. Yes, werewolves that have no pack. They tend to have that smell that made you gag, and they will kill you if you don't leave. I stand up making sure not to lean on my right leg too much. Limping to the door I try the handle, it's unlocked. He may try to trap you, don't trust him. Lean against the wall to support your leg. I made my way down the hall and felt a cool breeze against my face. A few times I had to wait and listen when I heard voices down the passage ways. The walls and floor were stone or straight up dirt and a few boulders helped in dodging being seen. The rogues were occupied with moving boxes and talking about getting the trucks ready for 'transport'. My feet were bare, the rocks jabbed at my souls making them raw. Luckily no one spotted me making my way along the hallway walls. When I found the opening my lungs took in the fresh air, my muscles shaking from the lack of movement for weeks. I look and see that we had been in a cave this whole time, some boulders around the entrance covering the tunnels presence. There was rain coming down on the trees, the night air cooling the rain down to a slush, and through the dark I can see torches from the men taking inventory on the box's around them. Avoid them, they are rogues as well. Climbing up to the left I make my way around the men. My leg would send a shock through my system with every step. The only way out was around them, the mountains around us only allowed one way in and out.
