Chp. 6 1 Week

1026 Words
* Drake POV * 1 week * "It has been 1 WEEK!" I chuck a chair across my room, watching it shatter into pieces before falling to the floor. "Why are you breaking stuff now. She can't be dead. No, she isn't dead. We would have found her body." Naomi bickers to herself on the couch. "Why are you guys so insistent on breaking things today?" I froze on my way to the desk in the corner. "Who else are you talking about?" I turn around to face her. "The pack doesn't know the extent of the rouges, we told them the route changes and patrols are extra precautions." "Yes, yes. They all believe you with that. I know we have to keep it quiet, but I hate lying to them." She scrunches her nose voicing her opinions out loud. "Who, Naomi. Focus, who else is upset?" I snap in her direction. Yes, fill your mind with other people's problems too. Ambrose said with a sneeze, he has been exhausted lately. Every other patrol we are out searching for the rouges. She giggled realizing she never answered the original question. "Barrett is in a huffle this morning." "URGH, what in the world of girl terms is that Naomi?" I fight the urge to growl. "He's upset dummy, very upset. I saw the new Omega, Newt I believe, carrying broken furniture out of his room." She finished with an eye roll. "He didn't leave his room yesterday, so I doubt today would be different. Even you haven't locked up yourself yet. Men." She scoffed dramatically. "And they say women are complicated." He hasn't left his room. I thought to myself. Maybe she did notice something I didn't. Walking out of the room without an explanation, I quickly go to Barrett's room down the hall. Are you sure you want to poke at the bear tonight? Ambrose grumbled. Knocking on the door I hear a small click before the door opened revealing Barrett's wrecked room. Barrett was wearing only black slacks, his brown hair a nest on his head. "I know why I am upset, you?" I poked his shoulder as I walked by him into the room. We are practically brothers, my parents died when I was 8 years old. The Alpha and Luna of the pack at the time took me and Naomi in. We were then on raised together, 21 years of a close bond no one can replace. "The rouges. A scout was supposed to report this morning but never showed." He scrubbed his face and shut the door once again. "We did get some Intel on the groups of rouges out there." "Anything useful?" I walk to his sitting area and chose the more stable side of the couch to sit on. "Patrols haven't found anything yet, I've been everywhere twice myself." "The group of trainers and contractors aren't one. They are 3 separate rouge packs. One of these pack happens to be located far from here dealing with some other pack." He sits down on the floor leaning on the wall. All other seats are broken unless he sat on the bed, but no one ever seen him touch it. "Are they not all the same?" "The one that's in the known, is the Interrogation group. Someone was tipped that this pack is the most persuasive of the three, and is seen as the lead pack." If they are not near here, then it must not be a big enough job for them to be involved. Ambrose pointed out. "The second pack is known for trafficking. Some 'orders' for girls may include breaking in spirit, or even 'purity' checks." Barrett's eyes darken ever so slightly. "They better not have taken Layla." I stated sitting straighter feeling the urge to punch someone. "I hope it is them." Barrett looked down cursing under his breathe. "The last one is the assassins, on rare occasions they may interrogate but Layla is human. So our best chance is with the traffickers, they build up new clientele and girls over multiple months before the big auction ends and they relocate." "Act like a buyer, your a unmated Alpha. No one would question if you were looking for a chosen mate." I suggested. "Not the way to go, even if the Elders support the plan, the other Alphas may have an issue if I get involved with traffickers. We need a better approach." Drake where are you? Naomi's voice called in my head through mindlink. I'm in Barrett's room. Discussing new information. Well, there is a scout to see him. But he believes the information will be for all of us anyway. Once we met up with the scout and was told all that was collected we had to come up with a plan. As the scout left the room for Barrett, Naomi and I, Naomi was the first to talk. "How do we get her back? Not only is she in the hands of the head auctioning d**k but they are working with the assassins on a job?" Naomi paced the office. "Then they are stationary!" Barrett walks towards his desk pulling out a map. "While the territory is large, they need to be able to set up for two camps plus the abducted." "We can go over the areas that can shelter so many people within decent distance." I suggested. Once Barrett nodded I made a plan to go on as many of those patrols as possible. "I do hope this doesn't take too much of the packs resources." Naomi looked towards Barrett. "She is a tough shell at times, but she reminds me of Mom. I don't want to lose that kind of person in my life." We stood in silence for a few minutes before going over more in detail where we thought the patrols should go. I ended up returning to my room late at night, I needed to sleep for a couple hours before I do the new patrol run. The last thing I heard before I was asleep was Ambrose's voice in my head. She isn't dead, there is still a presence.
