Nobody slept much after that. Callan kept his distance for the rest of the night, sitting at the far edge of the fire, offering nothing more, no matter how many times Amara tried to press him. Damian wouldn’t let her go near him alone, and by the time the fire had burned down to embers, Amara was too exhausted to fight either of them on it.
