Chapter4

Lai pov Days have passed since I arrived at the mansion, during which I have denied myself sustenance. The revelation of being mated to two individuals has overwhelmed me, presenting a stark reality that I must share my life with not one, but two partners. “Oh dear!” I let out a loud yawn, resting my head on the bed as my heart raced with tumultuous thoughts. A sudden realization struck me: the Lycans would eventually expect intimacy with me. This is a notion I find deeply unsettling, one I would prefer to avoid. I exhaled heavily. I hissed repeatedly, perplexed by the entire situation. It is indeed a shocking revelation to consider having two husbands. Just when I believed I was alone in my turmoil, the door swung open. A strikingly beautiful woman with brown curly hair and captivating eyes stood at the threshold, exuding an air of suffocating presence. I raised my eyebrows, searching her gaze with confusion. My lips parted to speak, but I hesitated, deterred by the disdain reflected in her eyes. "Hello, miss." "What does 'hello' mean when you are seated on my man's bed?" she retorted, her posture indicating hostility. "I apologize, I wasn't sitting on any man's bed," I stammered, shock evident on my face. Is she referring to Devon and David? No, surely she must have them. I have no desire to claim them for myself. I smirked, angrily shifting away from the spot on the mattress where I had been resting. "Are you deaf?" she scoffed, striding toward me. Before I could react, she seized my arm and yanked me to the floor. The disadvantages of being an Omega became painfully clear; like a fragile piece of paper caught in the wind, I fell to the ground. My head inadvertently struck the corner of the nightstand. I let out a groan of pain, my hand instinctively resting on the injured area. My eyes closed as I contemplated my next move. Despite the turmoil surrounding us, she held onto me fiercely, yanking my hair. Her fingers tangled in it, and tears welled in my eyes, fueled by the sense of betrayal I felt from the twins. How could they have a woman in their lives without ever mentioning it? I was compelled to follow her as she dragged me along. "Please, let me go! You’re hurting me," I gasped, struggling to catch my breath. "I won’t. Don’t you think you should consider the consequences before intruding into others' lives?" she retorted, her heels echoing against the floor. A sudden rush of determination surged through me, and with a swift movement, I broke free from her grasp, standing resolutely to confront her. She casually tossed her hair back, a sheepish smile playing on her lips. An unfamiliar sensation stirred within me, and my heart raced with anticipation. I gently touched my nose, feeling a warm trickle that stained my shirt. Looking down, I realized with dismay that it was blood. She had caused me to bleed. With trembling hands, I reached out, seized her hair, and delivered a sharp slap across her made-up face. "What on earth!” In a moment of hesitation, she stammered while gently stroking her cheek. Although my actions were not intentional, I felt compelled to respond to the extent of her provocations. If your aim is to make my life difficult, I believe you have already failed in this endeavor. In a flurry, she seized a duvet and threw it at my face, causing me to stumble and fall to the ground, injuring my ankle and dislocating my side in the process. What is wrong with someone as irrational as you? How could you confront another person and have the audacity to instigate a conflict? I struggled to regain my footing, my eyes scanning the floor for something to use. I spotted a small, portable object: an alarm clock. With a subtle nod, I dragged my boot along the ground. While she continued her tirade, I seized the clock and hurled it at her forehead, where it made direct contact. I closed my eyes as it struck. At that moment, the door swung open, revealing David, a lycan. He paused at the threshold, taking in the disarray of the room. "What is happening here?" he inquired, his gaze fixed on her. It was only when I rose from the floor that he seemed to notice me, captivated by her allure. I shrugged my shoulders and brushed past her toward the door. As I approached where lycan David stood, I attempted to push him aside, but he seized my hand and spun me around, our bodies colliding in an intense gaze. "Please, don't go!" he implored, his voice low as his eyes locked onto mine, igniting a spark of resolve within me. I turned my attention to the furious woman behind me, a smile breaking through my expression. In an instant, I pushed David away, his grip on me unyielding. "Stay with me, Lia. I have waited years to find you; please don’t leave me," he pleaded, his voice barely above a whisper, yet filled with an urgent longing. I rested my hand on his shoulder, leaning in closer with a hint of sass. I then shifted to the side of his ear, lingering there for a moment, while his arm encircled me in a secluded corner. Just as I began to lose myself in my thoughts, a sharp jab at my waist jolted me back to reality. "Get out now! I need to speak with Lycan David, and your presence is unwelcome here," my rival declared with a harsh tone, spewing her disdain. I chose to ignore her, and David remained silent. Another forceful strike landed on my waist, this one more severe, as she attempted to pull me away from David. However, he quickly reclaimed his hold on me, and she raised her hand, poised to strike. "Don't you dare!" "She is not a punching bag! She belongs to me!" "Do not harm her, now or ever," he warned, his eyes filled with sarcasm, fury, and venom. I let out a weak chuckle, gazing deeply into his eyes, seeking a connection onc e more. Was I truly his? No, I belonged to more than just him.
