Chapter 12 (TWELVE)

When Zhanarah entered the kitchen, Lanny asked, "Do you want anything?" "Oh nothing. Audrey fell asleep, and Mr. Liam told me to come here and talk to you about what's going on here." Zhanarah gave her a friendly smile. She felt at ease with the maid. She's pleasant and easy to get along with. Lanny isn't like the maids she's seen in movies, who act like madams and are extremely strict. She believes the two of them will get along "Oh, no problem. You are welcome to contact me at any time and asked anything you want to know." Lanny smiled at her and motioned for her to take a seat across from her. They were both sitting at the kitchen's breakfast bar. "And you are?" Lanny inquired. "Ohh, my bad. I apologize. I still haven't properly introduced myself to you. Zhanarah Miller is my name." "It's okay, I already know who you are. Remember how we introduced ourselves in the kitchen earlier?" That's when she remembered they'd already introduced themselves. She made fun of herself. "Oh, my goodness! It was my fault." "It's fine, haha. You are not required to." Lanny, too, laughed. "Anyway, it's great to have someone here with whom I can talk." "Yes, me as well. Is it okay if I show you around later so you can meet the other maids and workers?" Lanny inquired politely. "Of course, I'd be interested in the idea." She smiled at Lanny, pleased with the lady's friendliness. "You're very welcome. Don't worry, I'm confident you'll enjoy your stay here. Mr. Davis is a very nice person who treats all of the maids and workers like family." "Yes, I see. Her daughter is also nice, despite the fact that she has a lot of rules hahaha!" She said this while laughing. Lanny laughed as well."Audrey has a tendency to be eccentric at times. But once she meets you and talks with you, she will definitely like you. Trust me when I say she'll be the one breaking the rules she made." "Are you sure?" Zhanarah inquired, surprised. She never imagined the little girl would break her rules in such a way. "Yes." "You must have spent a long time working for Mr. Davis." Zhanarah inquired, perplexed. She appears to have worked here for a long time based on the way she talks about the father and daughter. "Um, sort of. I've been here for almost 9 years. I was 13 years old at the time, and I ran away from home because my father was abusing me. I tried to flee, but he always caught me. Thank goodness for Mr. Davis' assistance. That is why I owe him the rest of my life." She stated. She almost burst into tears as she described her previous situation. Zhanarah felt sorry for the lady. Who would have guessed she had been through so much? She never imagined their father would do such a thing to them if he was still alive. "When he found out about my condition, he begged his parents to assist me in getting away from my father. Mr. Davis has always been benevolent, and he enjoys assisting those in need. Because he is the only child, his parents have given him everything he desires." Zhanarah nodded in agreement with what the lady was saying. As a result, he is an only child. That explains a lot about why he adores his daughter. "Would you mind telling me where his parents are?" She inquired, her eyes wide with interest. She had to ask her so she has an idea on how to approach him regarding Audrey. "They're in Spain," says the narrator. She nodded once more... "So, when I started working here, I did the cooking and occasionally hung out with Audrey. They said they'd pay me, but I never accepted the offer. What they did to assist me means more than anything else. But I don't need the money." "Ohh," Zhanarah examines her wristwatch. She's been gone from Audrey's room for nearly fifteen minutes. She should take a look at her. "Audrey needs to be checked on. Please excuse me, Lanny." Lanny simply nodded. She stood up and exited the kitchen quickly. Lanny smiled; she likes the lady, and this is the first time she's told anyone about her past. She has no idea. She is at ease and at ease with her. Unlike Audrey's previous nannies, they were always preoccupied with something other than sitting and talking with her. Most of them are more focused on Mr. Davis, which is why she dislikes them. Their job is to focus on Audrey rather than Mr. Davis. Unlike Zhanarah, anyone can tell she genuinely cares about Audrey. Lanny had watched her from the kitchen while Audrey was still in her arms, and she had seen how poorly Zhanarah cares for the child. "She's still sleeping," says the narrator. As she walked back into the kitchen, Zhanarah said. "Ohh." Zhanarah took the stage opposite Lanny. She found the lady interesting, and they are at ease with each other. Then Zhanarah had an epiphany. She wanted to ask the question but is hesitating. "Uhm, I have a question." "Is it all right?" Zhanarah inquired, a little hesitantly. "Sure, sure. Ask whatever you want." Lanny gave a friendly smile. "Does Mr. Davis pay his employees half a millios per week?" "WHAT?! HALF A MILLION ? "A WEEK?" When Lanny yelled in complete shock, Zhanarah was taken aback. Oh my goodness! She was on the verge of having a heart attack.
