Zhanarah sighed, perplexed, and looked around. She doesn't know how to get to the kitchen to quickly wash her hands. Audrey's sobbing has grown louder, and she needs to comfort the child, but first she needs to wash her hands.
"Hello!" Zhanarah heard something and turned to see a woman wearing a white apron. Audrey's booklet had been given to her by the woman.
"Hello there! Where should I...." Zhanarah was speaking when she was interrupted by the woman.
"To wash your hands?" Her sentence was completed for her by the woman. "By the way, my name is Lanny." The woman extended her hand in greeting.
Lanny was already aware that Zhanarah had recently resumed her duties as Audrey's nanny.
"Oh, it's a pleasure to finally meet you. My name is Zhanarah." She gave Lanny a friendly smile and extended her hand for a handshake.
"Go through that doorway to get to the kitchen.""Thanks." Zhanarah dropped her bag and dashed ahead, disturbed by Audrey's continued sobbing.
She entered the kitchen and hurried to the sink to wash her hands. The kitchen is beautiful, but she didn't have time to take a good look around. She hurried back to the living room, wiping her hands on one of the clean napkins.
She drew Audrey, who was still crying, into her arms and rocked her back, hoping she'd stop crying soon. She dislikes seeing children cry, and it makes her want to cry as well.
Zhanarah sat quietly on the couch, Audrey in her arms, patting her back and singing her a lullaby. After a minute of crying and sniffing, the baby finally calmed down.
"Cassandra, who are you? And why did Audrey burst into tears all of a sudden?" Zhanarah pondered in her thoughts.
She was perplexed by the scenario she had witnessed earlier. She was perplexed and shocked because it all happened on her first day of work.
Zhanarah took a look at Audrey and noticed she was nodding off. She c****d her neck and gazed admiringly at the little girl. She was almost tempted to stroke her shiny brown hair, but then she remembered her number one rule.
"DO NOT TOUCH MY HAIR WITHOUT FIRST GETTING MY PERMISSION."
Aaargghhh!! So many rules, but she laughed at herself when she realized she had memorized every single one of them.
Audrey had fallen asleep completely in her arms. She had no idea the intelligent and talkative Audrey could cry so much, and Liam looked irritated as he walked out the door
She hoped that nothing bad had happened.
Liam returned to the living room, still agitated. He's already made Cassandra leave. The lady is a pain in the a*s, she irritates him so much.
But his rage quickly dissipated when he saw what was in front of him. Audrey is being held so gently by Zhanarah's arms that he can confidently state, "After me, she is the next person who held Audrey so perfectly." Cassandra, too, does not hold her in the same way that Zhanarah did.
Zhanarah is completely unaware of Liam's presence; she is still staring at Audrey, who is peacefully sleeping in her arms.
Liam smiled, relieved that he had found a nanny who genuinely cared about his daughter. He'll do whatever it takes to get her family out of the situation they're in right now.
Zhanarah looked up nonchalantly and was surprised to see Liam standing in front of her.
Geez!! This man is definitely creepy. He appeared out of nowhere, making no sound.
Liam cleared his throat because he was at a loss for words.
"So, did you, uhm, wash your hands before touching her? You do realize it's one of her rules, don't you?" He finally inquired.
"I did, indeed. Lanny guided me to the kitchen."
"Good." He doesn't want Audrey to be upset because her nanny touched her hair without first washing its hands.
I'm not sure what compelled her daughter to follow such rules, but it amused him. That means her daughter is simply doing her best to stay healthy. "I'm going to take her to her room now so she can be more comfortable." After a long moment of stealing glances at each other, Zhanarah finally said.
"That's all right. So come with me "Liam stated.
Zhanarah, who had stooped up with Audrey in her arms, staggered backwards under the weight of the child.
Wow! She carries a lot of weight.
Audrey was quickly taken away by Liam.
"I'm truly sorry." Zhanarah expressed her regret.
"What are you sorry for? You've done nothing wrong. It's understandable that you can't carry Audrey; she's quite heavy." He let out a small laugh.
"It's no surprise my hands were starting to ache." She also laughed back but quickly tried to hold back.
"Zhanarah, you're free to laugh. It isn't a sin." Liam said, and Zhanarah blushed as she heard how easily her name came out of his mouth.
"Okay, we'll take her to her room. Your hands must be hurting right now." "Nah! I'm used to it, but it makes me nervous."
"What are you upset about?" Zhanarah inquired, perplexed and concerned, noticing the man's sadness on his face.
"Audrey gets sick whenever she cries and falls asleep; she starts to burn up and everything." Liam said, pityingly looking at his daughter.
"Oh. I sincerely apologize. Is there anything I can do to avoid it?" Zhanarah inquired, blinking a few times.
She does it whenever she is perplexed, worried, or surprised. It appeared to be her signature expression.
"I'll just call the doctor when she wakes up."
"But, uh, we can simply rub her body with a wet cloth or give her a cold bath." Zhanarah made a suggestion. It's what they and her stepmother do when she gets a fever, and it's what her brother Isaac does as well. It works well for people who have a fever.
Liam simply nodded and began walking to his daughter's room. He placed his daughter on her bed and kissed her on the cheek. He drew her blanket over her and turned to see Zhanarah surveying the entire room. Her expression indicates that she is astounded and awed by it.He isn't surprised by the lady's reaction. He had decorated his daughter's room in the style of a princess bedroom because she is his one and only princess.
"Wow!" exclaimed Zhanarah.
The little girl's room is absolutely stunning. The colors purple and white dominated the entire room. Audrey's shoe collection astounded her; she had so many beautiful shoes. Her wardrobe is enormous. A massive chandelier hangs from the center of the white painted ceiling.
The room is so large that three two-seater couches and a gleaming glass table in the center had to be squeezed in. A large TV was plastered on the wall. Zhanarah could see her own reflection in the sparkling white marble tiles that covered the floor. She even had a mini-fridge in her room.
Zhanarah would have asked Liam if it was Audrey's room if she hadn't seen Audrey's name word boldly written on the wall in white and purple color.
Zhanarah almost burst out laughing when she realized how much money had been spent just to set up this room.
"Okay, Zhanarah." Liam called her name, jolting her back to reality. "H...uh?" She stumbled. "I'm sorry, I was just a little confused, her room is truly amazing." She was completely taken aback.
"It's all right. I apologize for what happened earlier." Liam expressed his regret to her.
"Oh, it's fine." She smiled, wanting to ask who the lady was but feared it would be impolite on her first day of work.
"Cassandra. Audrey's mother." Liam spoke up abruptly when he noticed that the lady appeared perplexed and wanted to ask a question but was holding it back.
"Ohh." Zhanarah blinked, allowing everything to sink in.
"However, we divorced five years ago." He went on to explain. He has no idea. He believes he needs to explain himself.
"I'm sorry about that; it must have been difficult for both of you." She said something, but Liam just shrugged.
It had been five years, and he had already forgotten about her. All that remained inside him was resentment for what she had done to him and her daughter.
"I don't let her in except on visitation days, which are twice a month. But if she shows up without warning, don't be afraid to call me because I'll leave work and kick her out myself." He said this while clenching his fists.
"Uhm... All right?" Zhanarah replied hesitantly.
Audrey shifted in her bed a little, and the blanket fell off her shoulder. Zhanarah and Liam both reached for the blanket at the same time, but Zhanarah reached for it first.
She drew it properly over Audrey, realizing she'd beaten Liam to it. She smiled to herself, but Liam snapped her out of it.
"What's the deal with your smile?" He inquired, perplexed.
"I got there before you." She burst out laughing, but stopped when she realized Liam's reaction had turned serious, and then smiled.
*THUGS! THUGS! THUGS! THUGS!
That's what her heart says when she saw Liam smiled.
Damn! He's very attractive. She had no business doing it. She's just being silly when she's around her brother and stepmother. But now she's done it, completely unaware. "I apologize; I didn't mean to laugh." She immediately apologized.
"It's fine," Liam said with a smile.
He had admired her playful smiles and laughter. It's the first time he's seen her laugh, and for the first time, he thinks she looks more beautiful when she does.
"You are not required to apologize for laughing; you are free to laugh and smile whenever you want. I told you it wasn't a sin."
Zhanarah gave a nod.
"Uhm, I'll just leave now, and you can go meet Lanny so she can enlighten you more about what's going on around here, but don't forget to check on Audrey every fifteen minutes." He said this while smiling at her.
Zhanarah, who was watching him walk away, became uneasy. His smile causes her heart to race.
"Oh my goodness! I'll be damned." She muttered a curse under her breath.
