Escape: Heaven’s Temple

THE LORD HEARS YOUR PRAYERS

“Emery? Emery? Why did you lock your door?” Sister Chloe kept on knocking on the door of Emery’s room. She immediately hid the small box to her bag and also the papers. She arranged herself then opened the door of her room. The nun just kept knocking on the door.

“I’m sorry, I think I accidentally locked the door. I didn’t do it on purpose, Sister. I just fell asleep so it took me a while to open the door,” Emery said.

“Oh, I’m sorry too disturb your sleep. But Sister Anasha is calling you to the dining area. We need to eat now so you have energy.”

Emery didn't said a thing anymore and just went to the dining area. All the nuns there are ready. Even the meals were plentiful. It was like a fiesta was taking place there because of the amount of food. "Why did you cook so many foods?" Emery asked them. She took her seat and so did those with her.

“It’s all for you, Emery. We don’t like it when your body is neglected. You need to be more energetic. Sister Anasha also thought of transferring you to another school.”

Her face became serious again because of what she heard. She didn’t like that news. “Why do I have to transfer to another academy? I'm fine now at Hellviore High. Especially with Kate already with me. I am following your orders and I have no one to talk to but Kate.”

“We know that you follow all our orders. But many evil spirits are already there at Hellviore High. Especially when a classmate was killed. The death of that student was mysterious so it is no longer safe in that area. You need to be moved to a safer place,” Sister Anasha replied to her.

“I don't know why you are so strict with me. Even if I don’t do or will do anything bad. I know what I have to do. You don't have to move me any further. I’m fine with Hellviore High and that was also the closest school from here to Heaven’s Temple, isn’t it?” Emery replied again. She does not consent to the wishes of the nuns.

Sister Anasha approached her and held Emery on her shoulder. “You have to understand that we only want your safety and nothing else. We are also doing it for your good, Emery.”

Emery quickly got up and ran to the statue of the Lord they called that churchS The nuns immediately followed her and saw that Emery was already kneeling there. Emery recited the strange prayers that had been taught to her since she was a child. Even now, she still doesn’t understand that. The nuns did not stop her and just watched her worship their Lord.

After Emery had said all the prayers that were for worship, she looked up at the statue of the Lord. “Please help me, our Lord. Sister Anasha wants me to get transfer to the other school but I don’t want to. I want to stay studying at Hellviore High. Please, our Lord,” prayed by Emery.

The nuns heard her prayer and then Emery got up and returned to the dining area. She had already mentioned the prayers and did not wait for the nuns. Then she started eating so she could finish quickly. When she had finished her food, she immediately went back to her room and lay down on her bed. She felt annoyed again because she was so choked with Sister Anasha's management of her life. Until she fell asleep in her mind.

Sister Anasha went to the far end of the hallway because she was being called. “I heard that you called for me, our Lord,” Sister Anasha said. An old man in strange clothes turned his back on him again. “I heard the prayer of Emery. That was the first time that she prayed to me. Go and grant her what she wants. Every time that Emery will pray to me, give and do what she wants. Do you understand?” the old man said to the nun.

The nun looked shocked when she heard what the old man said. She leaned over a little to pay her respects, "I will obey all of your orders."

Sister Anasha came out quickly. She didn't expect them to follow everything Emery wanted. Sister Anasha fears that over time Emery will be able to figure out what kind of place it is.

The next day, Emery doesn’t have any class because it’s weekend. So she woke up at noon. When she came out of her room, she had already bathed and tidied herself up. She went to the dining area and noticed that the nuns were not there. She wondered where they were. She looked inside the church and saw some people there worshiping. But the nuns were not there either. She looked outside Heaven’s Temple and saw that the nuns were still not there.

Where are they? So maybe that’s why no one woke me up early because they left here in Heaven’s Temple.

Emery didn't feel hungry, so she decided to go to the hallway where she couldn't enter the rooms. She remembered what was written in Steph's letter. Room number three. There she also heard that Sister Anasha was talking to someone when Angel died.

Before she entered that room, she went back to the church. She quickly knelt down and also began to pray in front of the statue of the Lord.

"I hope I can find the answer to Angel's death," she whispered. She did not know why she even thought of praying even though she did not believe in that Lord.

She stood up and went back to the hallway. She made sure that no one else was looking at her. It is also the right time that the nuns were not there.

She took a deep breath before finally entering that room. It was dark inside and she could hardly see anything. The door closed automatically to her surprise. But she did not feel scared. She also did not try to open the door.

She trained her eyes in the dark. As she gradually got used to it, she could see the whole place. She remembered that she had a flashlight in her pocket. Emery took it and then lit up the whole place.

"Ah!"

She shouted out in shock when she saw so many eyes around. All around her were only one eye. She rolled her eyes across the whole place until she aimed the light at a man with his back to her.

"Who are you?" Emery asked him. She strengthens herself. She didn't want her to feel scared.

"I see that you failed to follow one of the rules here in Heaven's Temple," the old man said to her. She got goosebumps after hearing the voice of the old man. It’s weird and scary. She felt that she was not talking to a human being.

“I am here to know what happened to my friend before after entering this room. One of my friend saw that Angel went here inside before she died. What have you done to her? She never saw that Angel leave this room,” Emery asked.

Instead of answering her, the old man just laughed at it. A horrible laugh. Only then did she realize that it was the voice that Sister Anasha had spoken to when they were looking for Angel.

"You came here inside without knowing if you can still get out of here," the old man said seriously to her.

“I am not scared on whoever you are. What did you do to my friend? I am sure that you did something to her,” Emery said again. She could not say that she had heard the conversation he had with Sister Anasha.

“I am amazed that you were not scared of me after hearing my voice. It seemed like this isn’t the first time that you heard my voice. That’s why you aren’t afraid anymore.”

Emery smirked at him, “Why would I be scared of you? Our Lord is always watching me. He is true and no one can hurt me,” she answered. The old man was shook because of what she said. But Emery said that with a mixed of sarcasm. she did not believe in the Lord.

"Is Angel your friend?"

Emery became alert because of what he said. “What do you know about her? Is it true that she came in here?” she asked.

“She’s now with your Lord. The Lord took her. She went here and told the Lord that she doesn’t want to live in this world anymore. She said she could no longer handle what was happening in her life. That’s why, the Lord took her to a good place. Where she will never suffer and be hurt again.”

“But Angel died. How come the Lord took her? Took her to what? To the paradise?” Emery asked continuously. She want to find the right answer on her friend’s death.

“Exactly. The paradise that no one knows except to her. Did I answer your questions? If you don't believe me, you won't be able to get out of this room.”

“Then I also want to talk to the Lord or be with him. Can I do that?”

The old man laughed. She just kept his back to Emery and he had a shows her appearance. She was sitting on a pillow.

“You’re brave enough to tell me that. But this is not yet your time to talk and be with him. Just wait until it’s your turn.”

"Well, I know who is the Lord here."

The old man was startled again. He felt that Emery was confident in what she had to say. "And who is the Lord? Tell me on where can I find him. So that I would also be able to talk to him.”

But the sarcasm on Emery’s friend didn’t leave to her face. “Do you want to meet him right now? Then go and meet him.”

“What do you mean by that?”

“Go and kill yourself now. So that, you will be able to see the Lord and also talk to him. Show me your face if you weren’t suspicious.”

But the old man doesn’t want to. She asked Emery again about what she meant by that. But Emery doesn’t want to answer him.

“Who do you think is the Lord of Heaven’s Temple? I know that you don’t believe him.”

“He’s now in front of me. I know that the Lord is you.”
