The Orphan

“Nurse! Call the doctor! There are two patients dying here!”

“Where is the doctor?! This kid cannot afford to lose both of her parents!”

“Don’t you have any available doctors right now?! These couples are dying here!”

Emery didn’t know how she should react to her situation now. The man who collided with her parents is now doing a scene in the hospital just so he can get a doctor to take care of her parents. Emery just wanted to hang out with her parents for a while, but this is what happened. They crossed the pedestrian lane but the man who was driving the SUV was drunk so his parents got into an accident. It was a miracle that Emery was not involved in that accident because she immediately ran to the end of the pedestrian lane. When she looked back at her parents, they already got bang against the SUV.

“What happened to them?” the nurse asked the man. “It... It was my fault. So please, do everything to save their lives,” the man answered.

Emery was just stunned by her bloody parents now lying in bed. Their faces were almost unrecognizable because they were covered in blood. The impact of the collision was too strong and too much blood was lost. They were immediately rushed to the emergency room to check on their condition. Only then did young Emery sit on the floor because of weakness and fear. She cried so she got the man's attention.

The man immediately approached her and supported her. “S—Stay away from me! This is all your fault!" young Emery shouted at the man.

The man wiped his face because he didn't know what to do. He regrets that he has taken advantage of other people just because he’s drunk. “I’m sorry. I’m really sorry. I will accept the punishment for what I have done,” the man whispered. It could see in his face the great concern and remorse.

The police officers arrived at the hospital to investigate the accident. They first talked to the man and he admitted everything he had done.

“I am the one that was wrong here. In the pedestrian lane they crossed and I am not paying attention to the road. I am also a little bit tipsy. It’s all my fault. I know it is wrong to drive while intoxicated. I am willing to accept all of the punishment. ”

A policeman who was talking to him nodded. “Let's wait for the result of their operation first. If something worse happens to them, you need to be prepared for those who will sue you. ”

The police approached the young Emery who was still crying. Her eyes were swollen and her whole face was red with tears.

“Please calm down. Your parents will be fine too,” said the policeman. "Have you eaten?" he asked further.

Emery nodded, "I don't feel like eating," she sobbed. A police officer pulled out the burger and handed it to the child. “Here, eat it first. Your parents don't want you to be hungry. You need to be strong for your parents.”

Emery didn't argue anymore and took the burger. She also felt hungry so while she was crying, she started eating what the police had given to her. When it was over, it was also the right time when the doctor who took care of her parents came out. The man who caused the accident and the police officers immediately approached the doctor to talk.

“What happened to them, Doc? Are they alright? ” the man asked. He hoped that the operation would have gone well and the two were alive. He imagines what Emery's situation will be like when something worse happens to them. He could not forgive himself when that happened.

“I am so sorry to say but we already did our best, but we couldn’t save their lives any longer. They have lost too much blood. The man has brain damage while the woman died due to lack of blood. We tried to save both of them but it was too late. ”

Young Emery seemed to understand what the doctor said so she immediately ran closer to the man who had collided with her parents. She beats him as she cries. The man just accepted all of her punches on his thigh. The beating did not hurt but the man seemed to be weakening because of the news. He doesn't know what he will do with his life after he killed two people. They have left an innocent child in this world. He took the happiness of young Emery.

"Sir, we need to take you to the police station now," the police said to the man.

"We will take care of this child for now. Don't you have any other relatives? ” the police asked Emery. She shook her head in response as she cried and looked at the man badly.

“I have no one with me except my mother and father. What will happen to me now? ” she answered while crying with her innocent question.

The man continued to apologize to the child but they could do nothing more. Emery no longer has parents and he is the only one and will live on the surface world. Just because of an accident he lost his parents. This event was not expected. At a young age Emery experienced such pain.
