Escape: Heaven’s Temple

REPENTING

“I heard about what happened at Hellviore High earlier, Emery. Your classmates are bullying you because of what happened to Steph?”

When Emery's class was over, Sister Chloe picked her up at the academy. Emery got in the car so Sister Chloe asked her.

The news spread so fast with which she found out about it immediately. I'm sure they had orders someone at the academy to watch over me. So they immediately knew what was happening to me.

“They were not bullying me. They were just asking me about why I always fought with Steph before and if ever I was involved in her death. That’s all,” Emery explained to the nun.

“But they were accusing you that Sister Anasha might bewitched Steph that’s why she died. They were saying ill things to you. I also heard that you are not friends with Kate anymore. Is that also true?”

She also knew about that? Why is almost every act and happening about me was told to the nuns? More detailed things are told to them so they know everything.

“I don’t know what happened to Kate and she acted like that earlier. Maybe someone told her not to be friends with me anymore, that’s why she acted suddenly like that.”

After Emery told that, she looked at Sister Chloe. Emery thought that the nuns might have told Kate not to be her friend anymore. Especially since Sister Anasha wants to transfer Emery out of school. That’s the only reason she can think of. Secondly, Kate might be afraid to get involved in the troubles happening to Emery.

“Or maybe, Kate was just too scared to get bullied to. You should also understand ber situation. That’s why we want you to transfer school because it’s not good at Hellviore High. You will only be ruined if you study there longer.”

“Even if that happens to me, I will not leave. They would only think of me more when I suddenly moved school. I am not guilty. I didn’t do anything wrong to anyone else in the academy. I can prove it to them if they still don't believe me. Another is that I can handle myself. I’m not a kid anymore,” Emery reasoned out.

"Sister Anasha will talk to you later when we arrived at Heaven's Temple."

“Why didn't she come after me today? Is she still busy?” Emery asked curiously.

“Yes, she’s still busy. But she told me that she will talk to you as soon as we arrive there. You will go to her office.”

Emery did not speak and just waited for them to arrive at Heaven’s Temple. When they arrived and by the time Emery got out of the car, someone quickly pulled her over. The grip on her hand was so tight that she was shocked.

“O-ouch! Sister Anasha!” Emery shouted in shocked. Some nuns were also surprised by what Sister Anasha did. She was now dragging Emery inside.

“You should repent to what you have done!” Sister Anasha shouted angrily at her.

“Sister Anasha, please calm down. I think you’re hurting emery right now,” Sister Chloe said. But Sister Anasha didn’t listen to her.

Sister Anasha threw Emery on the floor. They are now in front of the statue of their Lord. Emery fell to her knees and almost choked on the pain of falling to the floor. She did not expect the nun to throw her out. Sister Anasha quickly motioned to a nun. She handed a latigo. The eyes of some nuns widened as well as Emery's.

"Sister Anasha, what do you think you will do to her?" Sister Chloe asked her. She looked confused about what is going to happen. She did not expect Sister Anasha to be able to hurt Emery.

“Step back, all of you! Or the Lord will punish you too,” Sister Anasha said while looking to the nuns. They felt scared so they backed away and moved slightly away from Emery's place. They are now in the middle of the church.

"Sister Anasha— Ah!"

Emery screamed in pain when the latigo hit her back. Tears welled up in her eyes because of the pain she was feeling. Even some of the nuns cried out because of the force of Emery's beating.

"This is what will happen to you if you decided to disobey the rules of the Lord!" Sister Anasha shouted. She slapped Emery's back again. Emery couldn't stand it and she messed up on the floor. She no longer knew what she was going to do. She wanted to leave. She wanted to run away from that place. But she had nowhere to go. It was the first time someone had hurt her and she the first time she suffered the pain.

Sister Anasha pulled her up again and forced her to turn around and then hurt her in the back again. It released a little blood, which surprised the nuns even more. In Sister Chloe's mind she felt sorry for young Emery.

“Aren’t we forbidden to mention anything about Heaven’s Temple?! But why did you mention one of our prayers in the academy?! When because of you I was mistaken for a witch! My name is being tarnished even though it shouldn't be! If you had just agreed to transfer you to the academy, this would never have happened to you!” Sister Anasha shouted again.

She was about to s***k Emery again when someone spoke around them. “That’s enough. You have already punished yer severely. Let her repent on her own now,” the voice of a creepy old man said.

They could no longer see who spoke. Emery is still crying because of the pain she is feeling. Her back is bleeding now. Sister Anasha took a deep breath to calm herself.

“Go and kneel down right now in front of our Lord. Pray ten times to him. It’s the way that you will repent your sins,” Sister Anasha commanded.

"B-But I can't—"

“Repent in front of him now! Or else I will punish you again!” shouted by Sister Anasha again. Emery felt scared. So even though her body was no longer able to get up, she still tried. She feels so much pain. She knelt down and faced the statue of the Lord.

She weeps as she recites the ten prayers. When she finished, her body finally fell to the floor. With her crying so much and the pain she felt in her body, she completely lost consciousness.

Sister Chloe and the other nuns quickly took care of Emery. They picked her up and then carried Emery to her room. Sister Chloe also got a first aid kit and then treated Emery's wound. She was the only one in the room. Her eyes was already teary as she saw what had happened to poor Emery.

If you just followed everyone, you wouldn't be hurt like this.

In the nun's mind, she sees herself in Emery. But she also had no choice but to just look and watch Emery hurt. Sister Anasha will be followed by all inside Heaven’s Temple. She is considered the right hand of their Lord.

"Are you done?" Sister Anasha entered Emery's room. She looked that Emery was still being treated. She was unconscious and turned away while lying down.

“I am also finishing treating her. Fortunately, she lost consciousness so she could not feel the pain of her wounds,” Sister Chloe replied to her.

“Finish it already. I will wake Emery up later. The punishment meted out to her was not enough. She needs to suffer so that she will not repeat the sin she has committed.”

Sister Chloe could not believe what Sister Anasha had told her. She stood up and faced Sister Anasha while looking confuse.

“I'm sorry, Sister Anasha. But isn't it too much for you to do that to Emery just in case? You hurt her badly earlier. So I think that’s enough and there’s no need to torture her again. Emery is still young,” Sister Chloe said.

“Are you questioning me now on how I am handling Emery? Maybe you have forgotten that I am your law in Heaven’s Temple?”

“Yes, I know that. But I am just concerned with the kid—“

"Then if you don't want her to get punished, why won't you take her place instead?"

Sister Chloe was slightly surprised by what Sister Anasha said. "After all, you are used to that," she added.
