Chapter 1

640 Words
Cassandra’s POV   Believe it or not but I got reincarnated as a side character in my favorite novel. I am now Cassandra Kleope Grimaldi, the only daughter of Count Grimaldi of Norden Empire, who was engaged with Count Simon Tuzki, an ill-mannered lad with who will kill me ten months after our oh-so-called fated wedding.     This is definitely troublesome. What now?   I was in the middle of my deep thoughts when someone knocked on my door—I guess it was Claire, my personal maid.  In the novel, together with Cassandra, Claire will also meet her demise in the hands of my oh-so-future husband.   “Come in, Claire.”   “A pleasant morning to you, Miss Cassandra. Your father is calling you for breakfast, allow me to help you prepare.” Claire politely said as she prepare my outfit for today.  Thinking that this loyal and kind maid would innocently die just for me, I would never accept that.   I stood up with full of energy and swiftly went to Claire and tightly held her hands, “I will save us, Claire. Don’t worry! This is my lifetime mission.”   Claire was stunned and looked puzzled as she looked at me, oh I forgot I was a noble. Silly me   “W-What, M-miss?—A-ah, yes! I will save you, in the name of Norden Empire.”   Right after preparing, I went to the dining hall to join my father, Count Carlos Grimaldi, in breakfast. In the novel, it was stated that Grimaldis and Tuzkis are old acquainted friends and had a promise that the each one of both families’ 4th generation must be wed in order to maintain the good relationship between the two powerful noble bloods. My father, who was hesitant due to his love for his children, could not do anything anymore due to Count Simon Tuzki, who is the only 4th generation heir of Tuzkis, all of his younger brother and sister died in accident years ago. What a sad background story.   Arriving at the dining hall, I saw my supposedly loving father who is sitting alone at a long and expensive dining table, “Father..”   “Sit down, my only daughter. Let’s fill our stomach.” With a smile, Count Carlos looked at me lovingly and melancholy. My mother, who was the only woman that my father loved died due to a long-term illness, which was called leukemia on my previous life. Since then, my father never remarried nor looked on other women. He poured his time on our family and business affairs. Indeed, my father was melancholy.   “Yes, Father.”   I sat next to him and started eating.   Reading the novel before, I had no interest in the Grimaldis and Tuzkis because they are just side characters that would be help the main characters to be together but now… I need to do something. If I die, what would happen to father? Can he take it? Seeing two of the only women he loved?   “Cassandra..”   Father called me as he looked at me intently.   “Yes, Father. What is it?”   “Are you done with all the preparation for the wedding? Tell me if you need something.”   Hesitation was visible in my father’s face. Oh, right. The wedding will take place next month.   I’ve made up my mind. I must stop this wedding at all cost. Dying once is enough. I’m not stupid enough to waste my life again. In all lifetime, trouble will definitely follow me, huh? Well, this is better than having coffee and tea in the rainbow.   I showed my most loving smile and looked into Count Grimaldi’s eyes, “I needn’t anything, Father. Don’t worry. All preparations are in good progress.” “Preparation to break free from the Tuzkis.”  I whispered to myself.
