Light. Two kinds.
Gold from Elias. Black from me.
But we were human now. Where was it coming from?
From us. Together.
Our hands touched. And the light exploded.
Not to hurt. To heal.
It started at our fingers. Ran up our arms. Out through our chests.
The Inquisition dropped their weapons. Some fell to their knees. One started crying.
"What is this?" the leader whispered. His sword went out.
"This," Elias said, voice echoing, "is what happens when you stop choosing sides."
The light wrapped around the hospital. Around the city block.
For 10 minutes, everyone felt it. Peace. Real peace. No fear. No hate.
A woman in the crowd dropped her protest sign. A hunter lowered his weapon.
I could feel Elias in my head. Not words. Just... him. Love. Tiredness. Hope.
Memories flashed. His first sermon. My first kill. The night we met.
Then it was gone.
And we collapsed.
I hit the ground hard. Couldn’t breathe.
Elias was beside me, unconscious.
The last thing I heard before blacking out was Mara: "Get them inside. NOW."
I woke up hours later in the basement. Elias’s head on my chest. People sitting around us in a circle.
"What happened?" I croaked.
Mara smiled. "A miracle, child. You showed them."
