CHAPTER NINE

With Seith working as my assistant now, work became much easier. He helped with selecting secretaries, organizing files, and handling contracts. Honestly, with his impressive qualifications, it felt like there was nothing he couldn’t do. “What’s next on the schedule, Seith?” I asked while scrolling through my phone. Grace had just invited me to a tea party. “There’s nothing else this morning,” he answered calmly. “But from two to five this afternoon, you have your Alpha training.” “Oh right, I completely forgot about that.” I sighed and slipped my phone into my bag. “Thanks, Seith. Then you can head home early today.” “I’m afraid I can’t.” I finally looked up at him. “Why?” “The chairman assigned me to train you. I’ll be working alongside the trainer who trained him.” My brows furrowed. “Why would my father assign you as my trainer?” He didn’t answer. Instead, he simply shrugged and continued arranging the files in his hands. There he goes again with his mysterious behavior. A few hours later, I arrived at the tea party Grace had invited me to. The café was peaceful and elegant, filled with the sweet scent of pastries and freshly brewed tea. Grace sat by the window, already waiting for me with a bright smile on her face. “You’re late,” she teased lightly as I took my seat across from her. “Blame work,” I replied dramatically, making her laugh. The waiter soon brought our tea and snacks, and for a while we chatted about random things. But somehow, the conversation circled back to Seith. “Can you imagine?” I groaned while stirring my tea. “Dad actually assigned Seith to train me.” “Well, lucky you,” Grace replied casually before sipping from her cup. I frowned at her. “What’s that supposed to mean?” “Well…” she placed her cup down carefully. “Seith is actually a very skilled trainer. He trained his siblings and even a few well-known Alphas.” I blinked in surprise. “After his father passed away, his family couldn’t afford professional trainers,” she continued. “So Seith took responsibility for training his siblings himself. That experience sharpened his skills, and later he worked as a trainer for about a year while studying for his degree.” “When was this?” “During university. It was also his way of earning money.” She smiled softly. “He even trained famous young Alphas like Derik Macqvert and Lisa Daemon.” Grace had never lied to me before. I thought about Seith’s physique, his broad shoulders, and the quiet strength he carried so naturally. Maybe this wasn’t such a bad idea after all. And maybe… this training would finally give me a chance to get closer to him. “Madam, it’s time to leave.” Seith’s deep voice interrupted my thoughts. I looked up to find him standing beside our table. Checking my watch, I realized it was already half past one. “Do you have another meeting, Jade?” Grace asked, sounding disappointed. “Nope. My Alpha training starts today.” Grace looked at Seith with a playful smile. “You should go easy on my little princess.” To my surprise, Seith smiled softly at her and gave a small nod. I nearly stared at him. So he could smile. Because whenever he was around me, all I ever got was that cold, unreadable expression. I waved goodbye to Grace before leaving with Seith. The training was brutal from the very beginning. The first thing Seith focused on was my stamina, and to my embarrassment, I was terrible at it. Growing up pampered like a princess had done nothing to prepare me for this kind of exhaustion. Well… not entirely. Back when I was Louise, life had been very different. Still, Seith showed no mercy. He was easily the harshest trainer I had ever encountered. We trained for nearly three straight hours without proper breaks. By the end of each session, my legs trembled, my lungs burned, and every muscle in my body screamed in pain. Meanwhile, Seith barely looked tired. Just thinking about the next training session made me want to give up already.
