CHAPTER 5: Court Marriage

ANNIE'S POV

Main House...

We walked into the main house only to be welcomed by bright smiles from his parents.

"Come, come dear." Mrs. Chaeyoung warmly welcomed, while Mr. Andrew simply gave a nod.

"Finally, he has brought the long awaited bride home." Mrs. Chaeyoung continued while leading us to the sofa.

"It's no wonder why he hid you for so long, because you truly are a beauty." Tae's mom praised while I burst into a cheeky grin.

"And she's cute too, and has curves of perfect proportions." Mrs. Choi continued playfully raising her eyebrows and nudging her husband - Mr. Andrew Choi in the stomach.

I was sure I turned beet red as I felt my face heat up.

With a voice barely above a whisper she gossiped with her husband. "Who knew our son had good taste?"

I was left flustered while Mrs. Choi laughed heartily.

"Hahahaha, there's nothing to be shy about darling, we're family.

I felt a warmth I'd never felt before as fresh tears stung my eyes. I had ... a family.

I'd almost forgotten the warmth of a family ever since my mom was hospitalized and I'd been struggling to pay the bills.

I broke down sobbing as the emotions I'd been trying to cut off resurfaced again.

Mrs. Choi anxiously pushed Tae away scooting closer to lend a shoulder since he couldn't comfort me.

"Sssh darling, don't cry, we're now family."

She reaffirmed pressing a soft kiss to my hair like mother used to.

I cried some more finally releasing pent up frustration when I was suddenly drenched with embarrassment remembering how I cried like a baby.

"Hahahaha, who knew someone would look this cute after crying." She teased while I broke into a smile."

"C'mon son, wife her up immediately. I wanna live to see the cuties you two will create."Mrs. Choi said nudging Tae in the stomach.

"Mmm, mmm, mmm." Tae cleared his throat. "Actually concerning that, that's why we came here today."

Mrs. Choi's eyes visibly brightened as she gave my hand a little squeeze.

It showed how much she really wanted me as her daughter-in-law and it warmed my heart. But one voice at the back of my head urged," It would break her heart if she knew it was fake."

My smile instantly dropped as I wallowed in self pity.

Tae continued,"Sorry for not informing you earlier but we're having our court marriage today..."

Everyone went silent.
