I opened my eyes to a pair of blood red eyes staring at me. Any normal person would have been freaked out by it, but strangely enough, those eyes made me feel emotions I never thought I was capable of feeling.
"Good morning Princess" that deep voice said. Even when laying down on my bed, I still felt my knees shake. That voice was enough to make me feel what I had never felt before.
"You're here. Just like you promised" I was happy. I loved it when promises made were being kept.
"I promised, didn't 1? Besides get used to it. I plan to be by your side. Through thick and thin" Xander said as he kissed my cheek. Those words killed every doubt in my mind. They sounded so magical at that moment but I never knew that those same magical words were the cause of my biggest regrets.
"Sounds great" I smiled.
"What sounds great, Princess?" He asked confused.
"You and me, together"
"Yes" he smiled, "Together. Today, tomorrow and always"
"Now let's go and meet my future-in- laws. We need to know how far along they are with the wedding preparations"
"Someone can't wait to sink his claws into my skin"
"Oh Princess, you have no idea. I'm going to do so much more than that. You have no idea the thoughts that run in my head whenever I see you "
At that point, his red eyes turned much darker. Any fool would be able to tell what was going on in his mind. I knew I could. Those eyes showed desire. An intense feeling that I wasn't familiar with. Along with sadness, pain and a tinge of...... regret. Just what story does these pair of eyes tell.
"When are we having the wedding?" I asked in order to change the topic and to prevent a certain red eyed demon from losing control.
"Well, it's supposed to take place the day after tomorrow. And honestly, I can't wait to call you mine. You are going to make an excellent queen and an exceptional Luna. I never asked you this but, how was life in your pack? What did dearest daddy- in- law tell you about the Shadow pack".
Truth be told, considering the feud that had been going on and off since their arrival, I wouldn't be surprised if all I had heard so far wasn't as it seems.
"Papa said you people are savages. Greedy people who are dangerous and not worthy to be kept as allies as all you people can see are benefits. Barbarians and are always territorial even on other people's lands"
"That was harsh but the territorial part is kind of true. We are territorial about Our lands and Our women. Just like now, if any man no matter who glances at you with a hidden agenda, I will gladly kill him off. You are my womanso only I have the right to look at you as if I would gobble you up".
Him calling me his woman was so..... ughhh. I haven't blushed this much in my entire life.
"What about the other claims, are those ones true?"
"That Princess is up to you find put. Theu are going to be your people soon and you will be their queen and ruler soon. Then you will know how we act"
The way he looked at me made me feel butterflies in my tummy. They awoke an intense emotion in me. Before I could find out what was happening, something soaked me down there. Aunt Flu came early. And Xander was in the room with me.
"I will head over to the bath now, thank you" I scurried off from his and sprinted off while he was laughing. Even his laugh sounded so enchanting.
"Good morning Alpha, Luna". I greeted mum and dadas I walked into the meeting hall. They nodded at my greeting as I turned to the ten or so elders in the room with them. They were in charge of the subdivisions of the pack.
I sat down with Xander next to me. It may be have been for a fleeting second but I saw a look of disgust on mum's face when she looked at Xander. I didn't want to delve into their matter again so I just kept mute.
"We all know that my daughter Zoe has found her mate who happens to be Alpha Alexander of the Shadow pack and as traditions demand, they are to be wed as soon as possible. Which is why, with certain events taken in mind, they are to be wed tomorrow night. Is there anything else anyone would like to add?"
"It's a good thing she found her mate, Alpha" Elder Gyatso spoke up. If I could recall, Phoebe happened to be dating his son. Which reminds me, I haven't heard from my little troublemaker since the night of the full moon. "If her mate happened to be a member of the pack, then the pack leadership wouldn't have been a problem. But now that it's another Alpha and more so..... a rogue alpha, what are we to do about it?"
I watched as all elders supported him and I turned to Xander. Shockingly, he was calm. As if he was already used to it. He actually looked at them with amusement.
That was till we then heard the statement that broke Xander's calm resolve and shook me to the bones.
"Why are you all worried when she is nothing but a servent girl left at the mercy of the Luna. She's not qualified to be our next queen"
